A month back we posted a leaked document of Sony’s magnetic charging dock which features Dock DK36 which we speculated as that it may be for Xperia Z2 and here it comes officially, Sony has launched a new magnetic charging dock DK36 for Xperia Z2 exclusively. Just like Xperia Z2 is priced differently in many regions of Europe same trend is being spotted for price of magnetic charging dock DK36.

Xperia Z2 magnetic charging dock DK36 is priced at £24.99 in UK, €39 in Spain, Netherlands and France, €24 in Italy, €29 in Germany, 269 kr in Sweden and 119 Polish złoty in Poland. It is right now under coming soon tag but will be available very soon for either purchase or pre-order.

14.2.A.1.144 firmware certified for Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1 Compact

As when 14.2.A.1.142 firmware was certified for Xperia Z1, Xperia Z Ultra and Xperia Z1 Compact, we mentioned that 14.2.A.1.144 firmware will be soon certified and it seems a carrier specific firmware and here it comes, just now 14.2.A.1.144 firmware has been certified for Xperia Z1 C6903 and Xperia Z1 Compact D5503 on PTCRB, nothing spotted for Xperia Z Ultra yet.

Yesterday we saw 14.2.A.1.146 firmware hitting Chinese Xperia Z1 Compact M51w and a day before that 14.2.A.1.142 firmware hit Xperia Z1 Compact D5503 but no update spotted for Xperia Z1 and Xperia z Ultra yet. Though it seems again a carrier specific update but you never know it comes 😉

This time Sony has insanely over priced Xperia Z2 which is almost $1000 if we calculate, as we all know in starting Sony always price their flagship device a bit costly. We are looking to see Xperia Z1 to come to Asia soon and guessing what it would cost in India as at present in India you can get Xperia Z1 at a price of 500$-550$ in various shops so pricing of Xperia Z2 will be competitive in India. Xperia Z2 price in India is still unknown but we expect it hit the same price tag at which Xperia Z1 was launched i.e. around Rs 40K to Rs 45K.

Xperia M2 features 4.8″ qHD Display, S400 SoC, 8 MP rear Cam announced at MWC 2014

We have already seen today Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablet being unveiled by Sony at MWC 2014 and besides the two flagship devices Sony has also announced a mid range device Xperia M2, pretty much a successor of Xperia L. Xperia M2 features 4.8″ qHD Display, Snapdragon 400 SoC 1.2 GHz quad core processor ( MSM8926 / MSM8226 ) with Adreno 305 GPU. Xperia M2 weighs 148 grams and 8.6mm thick and has a build design pretty much similar to Xperia Z.

Xperia M2 packs 8 MP rear cam, HD video recording, 1 GB RAM, 8 GB internal storage and external SD card support up to 32 GB. It is LTE enabled and has 2300 mAh battery. Sony smart camera apps which was seen on flagship models will be present on Xperia M2 too. It will be shipped with Android 4.3 out of the box.

Chinese Xperia Z1 Compact M51w got 14.2.A.1.146 firmware update

Xperia Z1 Compact D5503 got its first android 4.3 14.2.A.1.142 firmware update yesterday which seems only a minor bug fixing update though no specific changelog is spotted so far from any user. Same 14.2.A.1.142 firmware is also expected to hit Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z Ultra but chances are very low as we are expecting direct android 4.4.2 KitKat 14.3.A.x.xxx firmware to roll on these two devices.

Just now Chinese Xperia Z1 Compact M51w which is yet not available for sale, saw Android 4.3 14.2.A.1.146 firmware update. As when it will be available for sale, users will be getting this update hopefully or which ever update is available then.

Live Pic of Sony D6503 Sirius Leaked with rubber borders or Black Aluminium Frame ?

Just a few hours before Sony’s press conference at MWC 2014, a live pic of Sony D6503 Sirius has been leaked and interestingly it either features black rubber border like Xperia Z or black aluminium frame; which is a bitter different from what we saw in earlier leaked pics of prototype of Sony D6503 Sirius.

Below leaked pic comes from Digi-Wo user who have leaked pics of so many Xperia smartphones before their launch. Can it be that Sony changed the design of Sony D6503 Sirius for the final appearance and it is now different from the prototype. Stereo speakers can be clearly seen in the pic, Sony and Xperia logo as usual at same place.

Volume rocker buttons, power key and external cam button is also spotted exactly at same place where we saw in prototype device.

Sony D5103 Full Specifications Leaked – 5.2″ 720p screen,1 GB RAM

Remember Sony D5103 which we saw earlier at GFX Benchmark database featuring Snapdragon 400 SoC, Adreno 305 and running Android 4.4.1 KitKat, well some more Sony D5103 Specifications have been leaked from the same benchmark database. From specifications it seems Sony D5103 is Xperia G which we saw in leaked pics some days ago, though no confirmation is there on this naming.

Freshly leaked Sony D5103 Specifications says it features 5.2″ 720p HD screen with 1 GB RAM, 8 GB internal storage, 8 MP rear cam, 1.3 MP front cam. If you remember in leaked pics of Xperia G we saw a bit smaller frame than Xperia Z1 so screen size still seems doubtful.

Below you can see the Sony D5103 specifications spotted on GFX Benchmark Database again for the second time with “system” tag getting changed to “info”.

Xperia L unofficial CyanogenMod 11 Android 4.4.2 KitKat ROM available

Android 4.4.2 KitKat has not arrived on any Xperia handset yet officially but it is expected Sony will unveil the new Xperia KitKat UI at MWC 2014 press conference where it may launch Xperia Z2 Tablet and Sony D6503 hopefully as Xperia Z2. We have seen official CyanogenMod 11 for Xperia Z1, Z Ultra and Z Ultra GPE already and some unofficial builds also for other Xperia smartphones. Just now from XDA dev # root, Xperia L unofficial CyanogenMod 11 Android 4.4.2 KitKat ROM is available for installing.

Xperia L unofficial CyanogenMod 11 Android 4.4.2 KitKat ROM is in alpha stage now and not much stable for full functioning, as per developer GPS, Bluetooth are not working and internal storage shows only 2 GB capacity. If you are still interested in trying it on your Xperia L, check below link.

As per user iRimas who holds this prototype version, side bezels are thin and screen looks better than Xperia Z1. Xperia Z2 Tablet has already been leaked in pics ( press renders ), we hope to see both devices at MWC 2014 from Sony.

Exactly after Sony sent emails for “Something extraordinary is coming” campaign for MWC 2014, 24 Feb Conference and tweeting the same with #XperiaDetails hashtag; just now Sony posted a video teaser of “Something extraordinary is coming” at MWC 2014. What is seen in video is a red cloth flying in an artistic way, though nothing can be judged from the video about next generation device yet. It may happen red color in video indicates towards Android 4.4.2 KitKat firmware getting unveiled with new Xperia UI.

Xperia Z1 Compact first 14.2.A.1.142 firmware update rolling

A few days ago we saw 14.2.A.1.142 firmware getting certified for Xperia Z1 Compact D5503 along with Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z Ultra on PTCRB and it has just started rolling on Xperia Z1 Compact now officially. Out of the box Xperia Z1 Compact came with android 4.3 14.2.A.1.114 firmware and then 14.2.A.1.136 firmware was certified which has not been rolled till now but some users are now reporting directly getting 14.2.A.1.142 firmware update. 14.2.A.1.142 firmware open sources files were uploaded yesterday by Sony.

14.2.A.1.142 firmware keeps Xperia Z1 Compact on android 4.3 and is available via PC Companion and SUS, no OTA for 14.2.A.1.142 firmware seen yet. Connect your Xperia Z1 Compact to PC Companion and look for firmware update notification, if you got on proceed as per on screen instructions. 14.2.A.1.142 firmware is still seeding so it may take time to reach your region. 14.2.A.1.142 firmware confirmed in Taiwan and Italy region as per user mag1017. At present it is not clear whether this carrier specific update or for regular variants but as soon as we get info, we will update post.

Xperia T2 Ultra Dual is launched at the same price of Xperia T2 Ultra and listing of both phones on Sony Mobile India product page is awaited.

Sony teases by saying “Something extraordinary is coming” in email about next Xperia Flagship at MWC 2014

We all know that on 24 Feb Sony’s press conference is due at MWC 2104 event and it is expected Sony will unveil the next generation of “Best of Sony” in form of Sony D6503 Sirius aka Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablet. Just now we noticed an email from Sony Mobile which is being sent out with wording “Something extraordinary is coming”…Hear it from us first. In the email it says “Very soon you’ll be able to experience why the latest from Sony Mobile is extraordinary in every way“.

Sony Mobile is inviting people to pre-register so they get to know about it as soon as it is out. As the wordings from Sony came just a few days before MWC 2014, it is probably about the new generation Sony Xperia Smartphone and Tablet or it can be something else too.

How to enable pen mode on Xperia Z1 – Pen,Pencil working as Stylus

Xperia Z Ultra supports sensitive pen mode which enables user to write with pen or pencil and use them as stylus, well this feature is superb if you have tried but somehow Xperia Z1 didn’t see any such feature enabled. XDA user RyokoN confirms this pen mode feature can now be enabled on Xperia Z1 also and somehow was disabled by Sony on Xperia Z1.

Original mod comes from AOKP, which RyokoN implied on Xperia Z1 and it works as stated by many users. To enable pen mode on Xperia Z1, your handset must be rooted, well lets see how to use this feature.

Enable pen mode on Xperia Z1

[ UPDATE ] Below mentioned Pen Mode also works on Xperia SP. Do apply screen protector before writing with pen. Try at your own risk on Xperia SP.

Download the below mentioned pen mode enabling and disabling toggle app.

Turn the app on to use pen mode on Xperia Z1 and toggle it off when not using it as the app increases the touch sensitivity of screen so you might not feel comfortable keeping it on all time.

To have additional improved touch experience, change the below mentioned values.

Navigate to system > usr > idc > clearpad_pen.idc. You will find the below code written…

Change the above mentioned code to below and reboot…

Xperia M 15.4.A.0.21 firmware, Xperia M Dual 15.5.A.0.16 firmware certified – Is it Android 4.3 ?

Xperia M which at present features android 4.1.2 version and Xperia M Dual features android 4.2.2 version, just now for both phones a major firmware is certified on PTCRB which seems as an upgrade to android version. Xperia M 15.4.A.0.21 firmware and Xperia M Dual 15.5.A.0.16 firmware is spotted on PTCRB besides some other firmwares which were certified a day before.

15.4.A.0.21 firmware is certified for Xperia M C1904 and C1905 which also saw 15.1.C.2.9 firmware and 15.1.C.2.8 firmware getting certified for it a day earlier. 15.5.A.0.16 firmware is certified for Xperia M Dual C2004 and C2005 which also saw 15.2.A.2.14 firmware getting certified a day earlier.

At present Xperia M is on 15.1.C.2.8 firmware which means a jump from 15.1.C.x.x to 15.4.A.x.xx firmware is huge update. Check below the 15.4.A.0.21 firmware certification for Xperia M on PTCRB page.

Xperia M Dual is on 15.2.A.2.5 firmware which means it will be moved from 15.2.A.x.x to 15.5.a.x.xx, which again indicates a major update. Check below the 15.5.A.0.16 firmware certification for Xperia M Dual on PTCRB page.

Rumors which these firmware certifications for Xperia M and Xperia M Dual has started that they might bring Android 4.3 update for them, though Sony didn’t mention about them in their android 4.3 update plan but a few days back we saw Vodafone Australia confirming that android 4.3 for Xperia M is in testing and it may come if everything goes right.

How to enable FM Radio without headset in Xperia smartphones

To enable FR radio in a smartphone you need to plugin the earphones in your device as they work as antenna for receiving signals. It is kind of odd thing but a necessity to make FM radio work. XDA developer DaRk-L0rD has come up with a mod which allows you to enable FM Radio without headset in Xperia smartphones. Your handset must be rooted for this mod to work on.

A full tutorial is given by the developer on how to enable FM Radio without headset in Xperia smartphone so you can easily do it by yourself but if you are a noob and don’t know about compiling and decompiling stuffs then you can directly install the modded Radio3.apk file to enable FM Radio without headset.

Enable FM Radio without headset – Working tutorial

You need to have the original FM Radio apk of your Xperia Smartphone. If you don’t have it, we have attched at last the FM Radio apk from our Xperia Z1.

#1 Follow below tutorial if you have knowledge of Compiling and Decompliling android apks, If not follow step #2.

Take out your FM Radio apk file.
Decompiling the above apk file. To decompile an apk, use this Decompiler tool. Download the source.zip file and extract it in a folder.
You fill see following files in the folder.

Navigate to folder smali > com > sonyericsson > fmradio > service.

Open the “PhfHandler.smali” file with Notepad.

Find “.if-eqz v0, :cond_0” code inside “PhfHandler.smali” file.

It will be like :-

Save the file.
Now compile this Modded Radio3.apk file. If you don’t how to do that, check this thread for more info.
Move this Modded Radio3.apk file to system/app. Set correct permissions rw-r-r. Do back up your current Radio3.apk file before replacing modded one.
Reboot, done 🙂

#2 If above tutorial is too complicated for you then directly download the below Modded Radio3.apk file and use it.

Download Modded FM Radio3.apk file to enable FM Radio without headset.

Download ModdedRadio3.apk

Push above app to system/app and set permissions rw-r-r, reboot.

Download Original Radio3.apk from Xperia Z1 in case you want to revert back to original file.

Xperia E1 Dual D2104 first 20.0.B.0.68 firmware certified on PTCRB

Sony launched Xperia E1 / Xperia E1 Dual along with Xperia T2 Ultra / Xperia T2 Ultra Dual in mid Jan 2014 just after CES 2014 event and Xperia E1 / Xperia E1 Dual is yet to be seen getting launched world wide. Yesterday we saw Sony launching Xperia Z1 Compact at a price tag of INR 36990 i.e $594, €431, £356 and just now Xperia T2 Ultra at an expensive price tag of INR 32000 i.e. $515, €375, £309.

Xperia E1 Dual D2104 comes with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean out of box and just now first 20.0.B.0.68 firmware is certified on PTCRB for it, no firmware certification is seen for Xperia E1 Dual. 20.0.B.0.68 firmware can be the first firmware which comes pre-installed on Xperia E1 Dual hopefully.

Sony has launched Xperia Z1 Compact at a price tag of INR 36990 i.e $594, €431, £356 in India yesterday in all 4 color variants which we saw at CES 2014 and just now we spotted Sony has launched Xperia T2 Ultra in India and is now available at an expensive price tag of INR 32000 i.e. $515, €375, £309 and currently only available via online retailer Saholic.

Xperia T2 Ultra features 6″ 720p HD screen, S400 SoC 1.4 GHz Quad core processor, 8 GB internal storage, 1 GB RAM and 13 MP rear cam / 1.1 MP front cam with 3000 mAh battery. Though Xperia T2 Ultra is a midrange device from Sony as except rear cam MP, no other specification amused us still Xperia T2 Ultra is priced so high.

Pre-Order Xperia T2 Ultra Dual in India at price INR 32000

As usual you get 6 month Xperia Accidental Damage cover warranty from Sony if you buy Xperia T2 Ultra.

We saw that at some online retailer we were able to grab Xperia Z1 Compact in India at INR 31000/$499 which is very cheap for this high end device and then why would one want to buy Xperia T2 Ultra. Xperia T2 Ultra Dual is not seen listed yet anywhere in India. Xperia T2 Ultra is yet to be listed on other major stores like Flipkart, Amazon India, Infibeam, Snapdeal.

If you are looking to purchase Xperia T2 Ultra then we advise you to wait for MWC 2014 event, Sony probably will launch more than 2 devices ( Xperia Z2 aka Sony Sirius D6503 and Xperia Z2 Tablet ) and you may get one in better price when it comes to India market officially.

Install Sony Xperia Downloadable Android 4.3 Themes on Xperia C

Sony introduced new Xperia downloadable themes in android 4.3 update for Xperia Z family and Xperia SP, T, TX and V which includes new Xperia theme engine so users can download new Xperia themes from Play Store and develop their own. Unfortunately these Xperia Downloadable Android 4.3 Themes can not be installed on android 4.2.2 running handsets if they are not using some mod to run them.

Now it is possible to install Xperia Downloadable Android 4.3 Themes on Xperia C. Remember your Xperia C must be rooted on latest available firmware to install these themes. Check below method on how to install the Xperia C theme package which came from XDA user TacoNikky.

How to Install Xperia Downloadable Android 4.3 Themes on Xperia C

You must have root access on your Xperia C, if you have then proceed below. Tested on Xperia C only. Installing them on other handsets is taking a risk at your own cost 😉

Download below mentioned file.

After downloading above file, extract it you will find some 7 themes apk inside it.

Make a backup of current themes apk in case you need to revert back.

Use any root explorer and put each theme apk in system/app folder.
