Xperia Z1 Android 4.3 14.2.A.0.XXX, 14.2.A.1.XX firmwares spotted

While Xperia Z1 users are waiting for official android 4.3 update for their devices which is due in December as per Sony’s statement on their blog we have spotted some new android 4.3 firmware set running on Xperia Z1 while running handset detection program by our blog. At present Xperia Z1 is running android 4.2.2 version and 14.1.G.2.257 firmware series and recently android 4.3 14.2.A.0.205 firmware was spotted on Sony D5503 model.

With respect to android 4.3 14.2.A.0.205 firmware spotted running on Sony D5503 model, we spotted Android 4.3 14.2.A.0.XXX, 14.2.A.1.XXX firmware builds exclusively running on Sony Xperia Z1 C6903, while some of the builds were also spotted on C6902. All the Android 4.3 14.2.A.0.XXX, 14.2.A.1.XXX builds seemed as various testing versions and one of them can be a final version also, hopefully the most higher build.

Xperia Z1 and Z Ultra Android 4.3 14.2.A.0.290 firmware Update Rolling Officially

Xperia Z1 C6903 and Xperia Z Ultra C6833 will feature same android 4.3 build 14.2.A.0.290 and Xperia Z, ZL, ZR and Tablet Z will feature a new android 4.3 10.4.B.X.XXX firmware build.

C6902+C6906+C6903+C6943 will have the same numbering 14.2.A.0.2xx as 4.3 android and 14.2.A.1.XX build is for US version. While Xperia Z1 C6916 is running 14.2.C.X.X as 4.3 android. Identity of C6916 is still unknown.

In total we spotted 9 firmware builds from android 4.3 14.2.A.0.XXX running on Xperia Z1 as 14.2.A.0.146, 14.2.A.0.152, 14.2.A.0.177, 14.2.A.0.183, 14.2.A.0.206, 14.2.A.0.229, 14.2.A.0.242,
14.2.A.0.255, 14.2.A.0.266 and 3 android 4.3 14.2.A.1.XX build running on Xperia Z1 viz. 14.2.A.1.4_131104, 14.2.A.1.31, 14.2.A.1.37.

If you have noticed above images clearly you must have seen that android 4.2.2 14.1.G.2.260 firmware is also detected which was never rolled yet as the latest android 4.2.2 build spotted on Xperia Z1 is 14.1.G.2.259. Another mysterious android 4.2.2 14.1.X.6.258 is also spotted.

It is not very clear so far which build will finally be rolled on Xperia Z1 as android 4.3 firmware, it can be any of the above stated firmware or can be the any new build which has not been detected yet.

As per our confidential source, next stop for Xperia Z1 will be android 4.3 now ( no more android 4.2.2 build will be rolled ) and is in pre-final testing version and soon all Xperia Z1 users will taste it. Excited for android, let us know…Don’t ask for ETA as there is none yet except the month December 😛

Unofficial CyanogenMod 11 KitKat 4.4 ROM for Xperia Z1 from FreeXperia Team

Xperia Z1 users are still waiting for official 4.3 update from Sony as it is officially due in December as per Sony’s statement on this, users can still get a taste of Android 4.4 KitKat (Not the Chocolate) via some unofficial sources. Yes FreeXperia Team has released an unofficial CyanogenMod 11 KitKat 4.4 Build for Xperia Z1 exclusively.

We posted a while ago about the first AOSP 4.4 “Revolution ROM” for Xperia Z1 from from XDA recognized developer “krabappel2548″, now its time for CyanogenMod 11 ROM, not official though. Many brilliant minds behind the FreeXperiaProject (FXP) team, came up with unofficial CM11 build on the XDA community for Xperia Z1.

As you must be knowing that Xperia Z1 users are facing issues when unlocking bootloader, the same goes with this one as well. It won’t be fixed until Sony comes up with a firmware update fixing this issue. For flashing, check the link below officially from FXP team.

Flashing Instructions and Downloading Package from FXP Team

The CAMERA IS NOT WORKING because bootloader issue persists. And it is a pre-requisite for flashing any CM ROMS. So keep in mind if you are to unlock your device:

Do keep a backup of the DRM keys before unlocking the bootloader.
If you flash the ROM or rather even unlock the Bootloader you might loose the loose the camera functionality.

Above mentioned ROM is still in testing, so if you are not sure to flash it, don’t do it now; wait for a stable release or an official one from CyanogenMod Team soon ( may be ). All credits to FXP team for their hardwork 🙂

Carrier based Xperia Z1 14.1.G.2.259 firmware update rolling out

At present Xperia Z1 suffering from many firmware glitches, though 14.1.G.2.257 firmware update sorted out many as per Sony but users are still facing those issues some of the main are display calibration issues ( yellow hue issues ), noisy pics from camera app etc.

At the same time 14.1.G.2.259 firmware was certified on PTCRB for Xperia Z1 C6903 on October 23 almost a month ago which was as per our sources meant for only carrier based devices and here it comes.

14.1.G.2.259 firmware update has been released now for Xperia Z1 in Australia on “Telstra Australia” carrier dated 14/11/13. It is expected to be bring some minor changes only.

Xperia Z1 14.1.G.2.259 firmware seen as OTA update sized 95.2 MB on a user’s handset, do check it may also be available via PC Companion or SUS. Look for a notification as shown below. Users who have got this update are saying it brought better battery life with it now.

It still keeps Xperia Z1 on android 4.2.2 jelly bean, hoped as last android 4.2.2 update on Xperia Z1 before we see android 4.3 officially rolling in December as Sony said.

Xperia Z1 Screen and Body bent appears – User’s fault or Hardware issue ?

Some users are raising concerns about the how well Xperia Z1 is build, we have come across some pictures of Xperia Z1 on Sony Mobile forum where users are complaining that their Xperia Z1’s screen and body has bent from its regular position and is lifted up, well at this stage it is hard to tell that is it hardware fault or user’s fault. Well let’s have a deep look into the matter what happened.

Xperia SP Frame Bent Issue appeared like Xperia Z1 – Poor Build Quality or User’s Fault ?

This is what we found “a user says that his one month old Xperia Z1 is bent itself, he didn’t sit on it”…Check the pic below where bottom end of Xperia Z1 has bent.

In a first look, it seems user has sat over Xperia Z1 while it was in back pocket may be, but the concerned owner denies this fact…only God knows the fact.

Another user has also posted the pic of his Xperia Z1 which is bent from front side. This user claims that he has rectified the bent by pressing it, and now 99% it is horizontal ( pic not attached ).

It’s quite obvious phone doesn’t come like that, user must have done something to it, may be sat on it or pressurized it.

An XDA user dante2086 posted some pics of his bent Xperia Z1, it looks awful terrible, he mentioned that his phone got some serious heat exposure lately so has heat done it for him ? User claims he never put it in back pocket or sat on it.!

Another user “Mart Harwood” sent us his picture of bent Xperia Z1, according to him it suddenly appeared, he didn’t do anything, as per him it may be the heat which is causing this type of distortion in the Xperia Z1 body.

Well we don’t think it is a hardware fault as it is hard to believe that it happened itself, but this is the case as per the users who are complaining about this issue, Is it an issue, is it right to call it an issue…Is heat causing this issue as no normal usage phone reaches 40 degree very easily and while gaming it reaches upto 45-46 degree.

Another Xperia Z1 user “V8Matt” has got in touch with us, and his Xperia Z1 also suffers from unconditional bends, that’s pathetic.

It seems the frame bent issue on Xperia Z1 is getting worse, another user “Thomas Uldahl” reached us with the below image.

Xperia Z1S Amami display compared to Xperia Z1’s – To use IPS Display ?

The latest rumored sensation from Sony Mobile, Xperia Z1S aka Xperia Amami or Sony D5503 is seen again, this time along with elder sibling Xperia Z1. Xperia Z1S Amami photographed besides Xperia Z1 showing the display comparison of both phones. With a first look you can say that display on Xperia Z1S looks a little less bright than Xperia Z1 but what if the brightness level is low on Xperia Z1S than Xperia Z1, we don’t know that yet.

User at Digi-Wo who posted this pic says that Xperia Z1S may use IPS Display ? What Sony using IPS display for their next flagship device and ditching TFT panels, that’s kind of Wow..!!! Well it certainly is a rumor or you can say the concerned tipster’s speculation regarding IPS display don’t take it seriously for now. As Xperia Z1F uses same display as Xperia Z1’s so IPS is least expected so far on Xperia Z1S also.

A day ago we saw Xperia Z1S real images leaked running Android 4.3 14.2.A.0.205 firmware, confirming Sony D5503 Model Number and on old UI just like android 4.2.2 in Xperia Z1. This new leak has created more sensation this time regarding display screen build.

Would you like Sony to use IPS display this time as they been using TFT panels from a long time, many Xperia Z1 users are complaining about poor display calibration on it as Yellow hue issue, so it would be better if Sony comes out this time with a great display screen.

[ REVIEW ] Sony Xperia Z1 Side Flip Case from RockPhone CN

Xperia Z1, the best of Sony for the best of you and to protect it you need a good premium case, the one which covers it at most delicate locations and opens up space at appropriate locations. The hunt for best Sony L39h / Xperia Z1 case in on and now we will be publishing a series of reviews for various types of Xperia Z1 cases present in the market. The first case we feature today is from RockPhone CN, it’s a side flip case ( or you can say a book flip case ).

RockPhone CN sent us this Xperia Z1 side flip case as a review sample unit. It costs almost 20$ or Rs 1099 is purchased from India, ships worldwide, normally from Hong Kong but have various distributors across many countries so they get it for you. We got it delivered by GoLifeStyleRetail in India.

It fits perfectly in Xperia Z1 C6902/3/6 and Xperia Z1 L39h, available in 4 colors viz. Blue, Yellow, Orange and Black though White and Purple are missing from the list, we wonder why so.!

Xperia Z1 side flip case from RockPhone comes in a cream-white plastic-glass case, covering looks good. At the top right corner it is written “for Sony Xperia Z1 / L39h”.

Back of cover lists some of the specifications in Chinese and the distributors details.

On the front side of case, “RockPhone” logo is embossed in metal casing, read as “Unique Designed by ROCK”. Front black side has a texture similar to wooden and back with a tough hard translucent plastic.

Inner side of flap which comes over the display screen has soft lining on surface, which has got dirty after usage of month by us, you can check below the pic.

Check the Xperia Z1 Side Flip Case from RockPhone’s view from all sides. 3.5 mm headphone jack, all buttons like power button, volume rocker button and dedicated camera button are well accessible.

SIM card slot area is not accessible as it has a plastic case covering on it which is also present on all 4 corners of phone protecting like a bumper case also. Though USB Port slot and MicroSD card slot with magnetic charging area is clearly accessible and is not covered with any plastic covering.

Well it is one of the cases we have seen which is a flip case also and magnetic charging port is not covered and is accessible which is a plus point in rating this case. You can use EC21 magnetic charging cable to charge your Xperia Z1 while case in on, We haven’t tried it putting on Dock DK31 while case in on.

As many people reports that many flip case’s camera opening is coming between the sensor and sometimes obstructs the flash LED, well have a look at the camera opening area of this case.

After opening front flap of case, it remains open as very light weight.

Android 4.4 KitKat AOSP RevolutionROM for Xperia Z1 Released – Install it

Officially android 4.4 KitKat is announced for Sony Xperia Z1 but when no ones knows as so far only Android 4.3 is on line of Xperia Z1 due in December ( though no exact ETA is given yet ). A few days ago, we posted that Android 4.4 KitKat AOSP ROM Coming soon for Sony Xperia Z1 from XDA recognized developer “krabappel2548” and today something revolutionary has came up from same dev.

As its very clear from the title that Xperia Z1 users now can have android 4.4 KitKat love on their phone, yes krabappel2548 has released the first pure Android 4.4 KitKat AOSP based ROM for our beloved Xperia Z1.

Android 4.4 KitKat AOSP RevolutionROM for Xperia Z1

Android 4.4 KitKat AOSP based ROM for Xperia Z1 is named as “RevolutionROM” and is now available for installing on Xperia Z1 but before you install, let us tell you what is working and what not.

It is by no means a daily driver yet, but progress is super fast and we could expect a very stable build as soon as SONY fixes the Bootloader Unlock Issue. For those who don’t know about the issue, unlocking bootloader breaks the camera at the moment.

White Frame Parts of an Unknown Xperia Phone Leaked – Similar Metal Frame Like Xperia Z1

As year is about to end and we are waitign for new Xperia devices to come up, we have been hearing rumors about Xperia Z1S ( aka mini version of Xperia Z1 launching globally). At the same time frame parts of an unknown Xperia phone have been surfaced on C-Tech, China website which shows the device follows the similar metal frame as like Xperia Z1 fits in.

Images have been leaked showing frame parts from all sides. On closely inspecting them, one can find that it is very similar to Xperia Z1 metal frame with same thickness almost. In Xperia Z1 there is an hole at the center of speaker grill while looking at the frame parts of this unknown Xperia phone, there are 3 holes in the bottom side.

Sony D6503 Live Photos Leaked – Very Similar to Xperia Z1 in Design

Let’s have a look at the frame parts now. It seems it has similar thickness from sides just like Xperia Z1 has. Nothing can be written about the camera hole of the frame, is it bigger or of the same size.

Now look at the frame parts from front side.

3.5 mm headphone jack position is at the same location where Xperia Z1 has.

In below frame you can see the micro-SD card slot, USB port and the magnetic charging slot with a strap hole whose location is opposite to where Xperia Z1 has.

SIM card slot, volume rocker buttons and camera button is at the same position just like Xperia Z1.

3 holes at the bottom side of phone for microphone but where is speaker grill here ? It seems missing…But what if out of 3 holes, 2 are meant as external speaker then sound is gonna low again similar to Xperia Z1.

At this point nothing can be said regarding which mystery phone it is, a new flagship device or somewhat else. Well we have to wait for now to see what Sony has for us in CES 2014.

Xperia Z1S spotted on Sony Mobile Global Site and Taken Down by Sony Soon

Since Xperia Z1 launched officially and Xperia Z1F ( aka mini version of Xperia Z1 in Japan ), there has been rumors buzzing about launch of global version of Xperia Z1 Mini as Xperia Z1S. But till now we saw only rumors. Even recently an alleged image of Xperia Z1S surfaced from the Evleaks firing the rumors again. This time something official has been put on the existence of Xperia Z1S from Sony Mobile.

Xperia Z1S spotted on Sony Mobile Global Site, a moment ago and hyperlinked to Xperia Z1 page but the weird thing is that Sony Mobile took down the listing of Xperia Z1S within an hour of putting it live.

Well we heard an interesting rumor sometime back that Sony is about to launch Xperia Z1S and another device codenamed as Xperia Taichi to be unveiled on November 12 at Shanghai Press Event. While all Xperia users are waiting for android 4.3 update on their devices which is due in December as per Sony’s statement on their blog recently, Sony has rolled out recently some updates to their stock media apps. Recently we saw Sony rolling out Xperia Keyboard 5.6.D.1.28 version OTA update on Xperia S, SL and P. Just now we received album app version 5.2.A.1.20 update on our Xperia Z1 C6902.

Album app version 5.2.A.1.20 update is available as an OTA update only, and confirmed by users of Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia Z and ZL. Album app version 5.2.A.1.20 is an update over previous album 5.2.A.0.6.

Check in update center and look for album app version 5.2.A.1.20 notification as shown below.

Sony CONFIRMS Android 4.3 Coming in December on Xperia Z1, Z Ultra, Z, ZL, ZR, Tablet Z, SP, T, TX, V – No update for Xperia S, SL, Acro S, Ion, P, J, U, Tipo, Miro, Neo V, L, E, M, C

As android 4.4 plans for Xperia devices confirmed by Sony just now stating that Xperia Z, ZL, Z Ultra, Z1 and Tablet Z are the first batch of devices which will get android 4.3 KitKat update soon, though no ETA is given. As Sony promised earlier about rolling android 4.3 jelly bean update soon, here comes the official news.

Sony Mobile has just now confirmed that Android 4.3 Coming in December on Xperia Z1, Z Ultra, Z, ZL, ZR, Tablet Z, SP. As Sony said that some devices will be updated directly from android 4.1.2 to android 4.3 so the next batch of devices getting android 4.3 will be Xperia T, TX and Xperia V. Though it is a big deal if see android 4.3 coming for all above mentioned devices in December only.

We’re pleased to tell you that we’ll start rolling Android 4.3 for Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR, Xperia Tablet Z, Xperia SP, Xperia Z Ultra and Xperia Z1 from next month*.

We also mentioned that a few of our products would be jumping software version – so, we can confirm that Xperia T, Xperia TX and Xperia V* will be upgraded to Android Jelly Bean 4.3… also from next month.

Sony CONFIRMED Android 4.4 KitKat for Xperia Z, ZL, Z Ultra, Z1, Tablet Z – No ETA – Xperia ZR, SP, C Not mentioned

Most awaited news from Sony Mobile has just came up about android 4.4 KitKat update on Xperia devices, it is now CONFIRMED that Android 4.4 KitKat for Xperia Z, ZL, Z Ultra, Z1, Tablet Z will come very soon thought it is not expected this year obviously due to scheduling of android 4.3 update in December.

Sony Mobile as announced on their official blog that Xperia Z, ZL, Z Ultra, Z1, Tablet Z will be getting android 4.4 KitKat updates in future though no ETA has be given yet. Strange to see that Xperia ZR has not been named yet, may be they will do in future or they won’t it still remains a mystery.

As Sony says that Xperia Z, ZL, Z Ultra, Z1, Tablet Z are the first batch of devices getting android 4.4 KitKat update so it means we may see Xperia ZR, Xperia SP, Xperia C soon joining the list.

When should we expect it to come ?

As in December Sony is rolling out android 4.3 update for Xperia Z, ZL, Z Ultra, Tablet Z, Z1, ZR and Xperia SP, T, TX and V so we may see android 4.4 KitKat update next year in January 2014.

Android 4.4 KitKat AOSP ROM Coming soon for Sony Xperia Z1

While many Xperia users waiting in line for the android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for their devices officially by SONY, the XDA community strives to provide latest android build to almost every android device out there in the market. Same is the case with Sony Xperia Z1.
As the device launched with Android 4.2.2 , users are since then waiting for 4.3 update and now they are hoping that Sony might skip the 4.3 update in favor of 4.4 for Xperia Z1. Android 4.4 KitKat AOSP RevolutionROM for Xperia Z1 Released – Install it

As its well known that Sony Xperia Z1 suffers from a very major issue on the software side, i.e. the bootloader on it cannot be unlocked without breaking the camera functionality. If a users wants to unlock the bootloader, he needs to sacrifice the capabilities of the camera on a CAMERAPHONE. If a users tries to unlock the bootloader without backing up the DRM keys of the phone (its a sort of originality/device-specific signature), he might never get to use exclusive features for Xperia devices like X-Reality engine and all. So one should keep a backup of the DRM keys (or TA partition) safe with him/HER.

We are yet to receive an official word on it soon by Sony, which may be arriving very soon.

Sony announcing android 4.4 KitKat and android 4.3 plans next week – Which Xperia phones will get ?

Thanks to krabappel2548, XDA Developer has come up with a great news for Sony Xperia Z1 users this festive season, especially those who wants updates faster than anyone. He told to his fellow members on XDA that he has compiled the Android 4.4 KitKat from the source build. Initially he faced many problems with compiling the ROM. Later he said that the ROM is being compiled, but the screen is not functional, but later he managed to fix that even.

He Said:

“AOSP 4.4 booting up with display functional

A lot of stuff is still broken, but I’m working on it. I’ll keep you guys updated”

[ UPDATE ] Just now XDA dev krabappel confirmed that, audio, BlueTooth, Video not working rest all stuff is working smooth…

So all in all its a great news for Sony Xperia Z1 users, as the man about whom we talked above is on fire and is soon going to come up with some test builds.

Install Latest Xperia Home 6.1.A.0.5 version on Xperia Z1, Z

Xperia L was recently updated to android 4.2.2 15.3.A.0.26 firmware which brought a lot many features which Xperia Z family android phones got in their update. It’s overall a major update for Xperia L users and has enhanced the performance of the device. Noticing carefully it was found that some stock apps have also been updated which are not yet updated on Xperia Z1 and other android 4.2.2 running Xperia smartphones. Walkman app version 7.15.A.0.0 replaces the older Walkman app version 7.12.A.0.0 and brings out bug fixes and performance enhancement as per changelog associated with this update.

Xperia Z1 USB port cover fell of during normal use

We will be covering a series of post here where we will bring out some of the weird issues happening to Sony Xperia Z1. It is the “Best of Sony” yet but it seems in respect to its hardware quality and the firmware bugs it still lags. We first discussed here the yellow hue tint issue on Xperia Z1 which was acknowledged by Sony as per their change log of 14.1.G.2.257 firmware update but we can confirm and even many users that yellow hue tint on Xperia Z1 is still present and Sony is taking this issue as firmware bug though it likely seems to be an issue related to faulty panels used in Xperia Z1.

We on our part have replaced our Xperia Z1 twice from Sony on the account of same yellow hue tint issue and yet not satisfied. Let’s talk about another issue, as seen by an Xperia Z1 user. Lately during a normal use of Xperia Z1, his USB port cover fell of somewhere, weird it is.

First see the image of Xperia Z1 USB port cover not at its proper position.

Let’s see what Jonas Luster quotes regarding his issue :-

And then it took precisely one week for this to happen. Apparently the USB charger port cover fell off sometime this weekend while taking pictures. We searched high and low but couldn’t find it anymore, it seems it fell out during the walk and not before, during, or after charging.

I’d been afraid this would happen, the latch felt very flimsy at first open and I am opening and closing it frequently since I don’t have a chance at using ADB over WiFi in many places.

Sony tells me I am shit out of luck and there is no way for me to get a replacement. That makes me a doubly sad panda, not having a waterproof phone now…

Well it seems terribly bad that it just came out. It certainly can’t be concluded that is it users negligence issue or an issue of faulty hardware but what’s the solution now. Is this replacement of part covered under Sony’s warranty. Well if you have a strong luck Sony service center may replace the part under warranty though we guess they may charge you an amount for the same.

You can avoid this issue by using Xperia Z1 magnetic charging dock DK31 or EC21 charging cable to charge your Xperia Z1 and use the Xperia Z1 USB port only when need to connect it via USB cable for some needful purpose otherwise do no frequently open your port flaps because if they fell of or broken your Xperia Z1 might not remain water resistant.

[ RUMOR ] Xperia Z1S and Xperia Taichi to be unveiled on November 12 Shanghai Press Event

After a month of global launch of Sony Xperia Z1 and it’s mini version as Xperia Z1 F recenty in Japan, it seems Sony Mobile is all set to release more devices this year before CES 2014 event. Just now an interesting rumor about Xperia Z1S and Xperia Taichi has been popped up on a Chinese website “Digi-Wo” which has allegedly leaked many info of may Xperia models before their official launch.

As per the tipster on the above mentioned Chinese website, Sony Mobiles is all set to hold a press event in Shanghai on November 11, 2013 where we may see the launch of Xperia Z1S ( assumed as international version of Xperia Z1 F ) and another Xperia device code named as Xperia Taichi.

Xperia Z1S was recently spotted in the alleged leaked press image render from Evleaks and it will feature the same specs as Xperia Z1F. On the other hand this mysterious device Xperia Taichi is a sensation.

According to a widespread rumor Xperia Taichi is a mid ranged 6″ Phablet featuring MediaTek SoC true octa-core processor and 720p HD display with 1280×720 screen resolution.

We want to clearly stat that authenticity of above information is still not proved, so take this info on Xperia Z1S and Xperia Taichi as rumor.

It would be great if we see international launch of Xperia Z1F, but this Xperia Taichi will be like incing on cake if it comes…

Xperia Z1S For T-Mobile USA Picture Leaked Again

A few days back we saw Evleaks leaking an alleged image of Xperia Z1 for T-Mobile USA showing the back panel of Xperia Z1. The Design of phone was a but much different from the design of global Xperia Z1 C6902 and C6903. Just now Evleaks has leaked another image of Xperia Z1 named as Xperia Z1S For T-Mobile USA. Well to be honest no details has been given whether it is Xperia Z1 For T-Mobile USA or an international release of Xperia Z1 F aka Xperia Z1 Mini which was recently launched in Japan only.

Twitter handle of Evleaks has quoted the model as “Xperia Z1S” and is a 2013 Sony Mobile model. Model Xperia Z1S depicts some design changes in itself. 3.5mm headphone jack is centered. Front facing camera in Xperia Z1S is at the left side of Sony logo but if we see in Xperia Z1 global model, it is on right side of Sony Logo.

Previous leak was mentioned as Xperia Z1 for T-Mobile but this leak is quoted as Xperia Z1S, so is it about Xperia Z1 for T-Mobile USA or some other model of Xperia Z1. If we see the previous image, it’s frame suits perfectly to this leaked image of Xperia Z1S.

In past also Sony has given a different name to Xperia model’s release in USA, like Xperia T was named as Xperia TL on AT&T but Xperia Z1 release on T-Mobile was named as Xperia Z1 only.

So till now we are expecting Xperia Z1S, as Xperia Z1 for T-Mobile USA but it can also be the international release of Xperia Z1 F, very less chances though. As soon as any official info on Xperia Z1 release in USA comes on T-Mobile we will let you know..

Step 3

After downloading ftf file, Go to location where FlashTool is installed and create a folder named “Source Files” and put the above Xperia Z1 14.1.G.2.257 ftf file in it.

Additional Step :- Install Drivers

Install Drivers from the folder named “FlashTool Drivers” in the location where FlashTool is installed.

Step 4 – Open FlashTool

Now Open FlashTool. See the “Black Lightning icon” at the top left corner. Click on it.

Step 5 – Choose Flashmode from Bootmode chooser

Now choose flashmode from given two options.

Step 6

Now browse to “Source Files” location and select it. You will see the Xperia Z1 14.1.G.2.257 ftf file listed below in left hand side of window under the “firmware section tag”.

Step 7 – Wipe data if you wish

See the right hand side of window under the “Wipe” tag, all three options are checked if, will delete all user data. So if you don’t want to delete all user user data and don’t want a factory reset then you should uncheck them.

Click on “Flash” button.

Step 8 – Preparing files for flashing

After clicking on “Flash” Button in above step, now FlashTool will prepare file “C6902 / 14.1.G.2.257 / Global for flashing.”

Step 9 – Connecting phone in FlashMode.

Now enable USB Debugging on your phone and enable unknown sources option in your Xperia Z1 and switch it off. When prompted the notification of connecting your phone, connect it in flashmode.

Press Volume down button and then insert usb in phone, you will see red and green light blink once, it means phone is connected in flashmode now.

As soon as phone is detected by FlashTool, flashing beings and wait till it is finished.

Step – 10 Disconnect phone

Disconnect phone as soon as flashing is finished. Now reboot your phone. You must have Xperia Z1 14.1.G.2.257 firmware on your phone 🙂

Now go to about phone settings and check whether you have 14.1.G.2.257 firmware read, if yes you have successfully updated your Xperia Z1 C6902 / C6903 to 14.1.G.2.257 firmware, Cheers 🙂

Perform each step carefully and it’s very easy to flash firmware ftf files on your phone.

Xperia Z1 14.1.G.2.257 firmware Changelog – As what Sony says…

Sony has officially acknowledged the 14.1.G.2.257 firmware update info on their blog and listed the changelog very carefully as Xperia Z1 users are facing many issues on present unstable firmware.

Below changelog is based on what Sony has updated. We will soon update our changelog as soon as we get hands on this firmware.

Camera Algorithm Tweaked – Batter Camera Pics now as per Sony’s statement.
Xperia Camera app runs more smoothly. New camera app actually, new settings seen.
Display is calibrated, need to see whether yellow hue tint issue on Xperia Z1 is resolved or not.
Batter power consumption now.
Exchange sync more better now.

Our Changelog on 14.1.G.2.257 firmware

Automatic power-off issue Still there. Got 3 times.
Wi-Fi range improved.
Touch sensitivity is better from previous firmware.
Optimized backlight option is gone now, and is permanently ON now.
Display not improved seems same to us. It many have been improved but not for as. It’s still same as it was before.
Battery draining at same rate, no improvement.

NFC icon now shown while it is activated.
