A new major bug fixing 14.2.A.1.136 firmware update is rolling of Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z Ultra handsets. Sony rolled android 4.3 update on Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z Ultra in form of 14.2.A.0.290 firmware which has many serious bugs like yellow hue on screen, less battery back up, poor touch screen response etc. 14.2.A.1.124 firmware was seen recently getting certified for Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z Ultra on PTCRB where we posted that a new 14.2.A.1.136 firmware will come soon as it was in testing at that time. 14.2.A.1.136 firmware was yesterday certified on PTCRB for Xperia Z1, Z Ultra and Z1 Compact.

Sony Mobile has just tweeted saying that roll out of 14.2.A.1.136 firmware has started officially globally now. 14.2.A.1.136 firmware keeps Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z Ultra on android 4.3, confirmed in regions like Finland, Generic Nordic Countries like Norway, Vietnam, Hong Kong, UK, Canada ( for Xperia Z1 ) and India, Thailand, UK ( for Xperia Z Ultra ) and currently available over PC Companion and SUS and Bridge for Mac

[ UPDATE ] 14.2.A.1.136 firmware update confirmed in India on Xperia Z1 C6902 and Xperia Z Ultra C6802. It’s a hefty 944.6 MB update in size for Xperia Z1. 14.2.A.1.136 firmware OTA available now on Xperia Z1.

To update your Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z Ultra, connect it to PC Companion and look for 14.2.A.1.136 firmware notification and then proceed as per on screen instructions.

Xperia M Android 4.3 testing scheduled says Vodafone Australia

Sony rolled Android 4.2.2 on Xperia M Dual but it left Xperia M on android 4.1.2, the then Xperia M users are asking us when they will get android 4.2.2 update. As per Sony’s earlier plan for android 4.3 update, only a few phones will be getting android 4.3 for now and the ones which are left are Xperia M, Xperia L, Xperia E, Xperia C.

We just noticed on Vodafone Australia blog where they have posted a software update schedule for some handsets, it seems Xperia M will directly be updated to android 4.3 from android 4.1.2, at present status of Xperia M android 4.3 is “testing scheduled”. Besides Xperia M, Xperia SP and TX are also seen with android 4.3 status as in “testing”.

When we asked concerned Vodafone Australia support that are they sure that Xperia M will get android 4.3 as Sony clearly mentioned on their blog that Xperia M will not get android 4.3 so in return we got a reply that “As soon as everything runs smoothly in testing phase, Xperia M will get android 4.3 update”.

Last night Xperia SP got new 12.1.A.0.266 firmware certified and Xperia T, V getting 9.2.A.0.295 firmware certified on PTCRB, it can be the case that it is the firmware which Vodafone Australia has put up on their blog.

Xperia Z1 Compact has easily managed to get talk time of 20 hours and 42 minutes on 3G network where Xperia Z1 managed to get more than 26 hours of talk time on 3G network and Xperia Z Ultra getting more than 24 hours of talk time as per GsmArena’s test. Xperia SP and Xperia ZR are similar devices with same battery power like Xperia Z1 Compact and have talk time of around 19 and 17 hours respectively.

Xperia Z1 Compact has nearly double talk time compared to iPhone 5S and beats iPhone 5S talk time of 10 hours by very large margin.

Xperia Z1 Compact battery test – Web Browsing time

Xperia Z1 Compact has 4.3″ 720p IPS display panel with Triluminos for mobile. Xperia Z1 Compact has managed to get more than 12 hours of web browsing ( 12 hours and 37 minutes ) , where Xperia Z1 managed to get only 6 hours of web browsing time. Xperia C and Xperia ZR are the devices which managed to get 12 hours and 11 hours of web browsing time respectively as per GsmArena test.

Xperia T and Xperia V Android 4.3 9.2.A.0.295 firmware certified – Final Build

A new android 4.3 9.2.A.0.295 firmware has just been certified for Xperia T and Xperia V on PTCRB website following the previous 9.2.A.0.290, 9.2.A.0.276 firmware certification. Sony said that it will roll android 4.3 firmware for Xperia T and Xperia V at the end of Jan or in early Feb 2014 but till now nothing has come up except for this new certified 9.2.A.0.295 firmware again. A few moments ago, a new Xperia SP Android 4.3 12.1.A.0.266 firmware was also certified.

9.2.A.0.295 firmware is certified for all variants of Xperia T and Xperia V. Sadly no android 4.3 firmware has been certified for Xperia TX LT29i till now on PTCRB. 9.2.A.0.295 firmware certification at this time clearly indicates Sony is till working on android 4.3 and previously certified all builds were buggy.

Xperia SP Android 4.3 12.1.A.0.266 firmware certified – Final Build ?

Oops Sony did it again.! Just now a new Xperia SP Android 4.3 12.1.A.0.266 firmware has been certified on PTCRB following the previous certified 12.1.A.0.263, 12.1.A.0.253 firmware builds. A few days ago Sony made a statement in a tweet saying android 4.3 for Xperia SP, T, TX and V will be soon rolled out at end of Jan or in early Feb 2014, well it seems Jan is about to end and users are asking about the update and a new 12.1.A.0.266 firmware certification has come up at the same time.

12.1.A.0.266 firmware is certified for all variants of Xperia SP i.e. C5302 ( M35h ) , C5303 and C5306 and probably is the final android 4.3 build for Xperia SP which will be released hopefully very soon. 12.1.A.0.266 firmware certification clearly indicates Sony is still working on Xperia SP android 4.3 firmware.

Xperia Z1 14.2.A.1.136 firmware update seen on EMMA Update Servers in Baltic Regions – White Balance Settings

Android 4.3 14.2.A.1.136 firmware which was about to roll on Xperia Z1, Xperia Z Ultra and Xperia Z1 Compact as it was in testing as per our report when 14.2.A.1.124 firmware was certified on PTCRB, it seems 14.2.A.1.136 firmware update is now seen on EMMA update servers in Baltic regions only for the time being. 14.2.A.1.136 firmware news came first from the legendary flastool developer “Androxyde“.

It is clear that 14.2.A.1.136 firmware update has not been rolled via PC Companion or SUS in any regions till now and is only available via EMMA Update Servers for Baltic region only and that for Xperia Z1 C6903, nothing seen for Xperia Z1 C6902 till now.

Sony D6503 Sirius camera photo samples leaked, compared with Xperia Z1

Sony D6503 aka Sony Sirius which has been unofficially announced as the real pics of Sony D6503 have been leaked weeks ago with an overview of what Sony has planned for users on Xperia Android 4.4.2 KitKat 4.4.2 UI. A much before that we saw Sony D6503 allegedly appearing in the AnTuTu Benchmark database and scoring 29745 points. Sony D6603 has also been spotted but with no images till now.

As you know Sony D6503 Sirius features same 20.7 MP rear cam with Sony “G” lens exactly like Xperia Z1, users were asking for the camera photo samples of it to check whether it’s camera quality is better than Xperia Z1 or not. Let us tell you clearly that Sony D6503 features same cam as Xperia Z1, only the firmware featured is different that’s why you may find a great difference in the camera photo samples of both.

Camera Mode :- Below pic is taken in a room with no light ( dark room ) “superior auto mode” with flash on.

As both Sony D6503 and Xperia Z1 shares same piece of hardware in rear camera, it seems except the firmware nothing is different in them. As when the firmware will be ready in final retail version on Sony D6503 we may find more better pics from it and same is expected from Xperia Z1 on android 4.4.2 KitKat 14.3.A.X.XXX firmware which Sony has already started testing.

Xperia Z1 vibration motor squeaking sound issue arising for many users

Many users are reporting to us about this weird Xperia Z1 vibration motor squeaking sound issue. For some a sound like bee buzzing comes when their phone vibrates and for some a loud squeaking sound comes. It is still not clear whether this vibration issue in Xperia Z1 is related with firmware or faulty hardware but we too have felt it on old .257 firmware.

Sony’s own forum is filled with many threads about this loud vibration sound issue on Xperia Z1. If you try Xperia diagnostic app on your phone then you can clearly identify the issue, want to clearly know what this issue is actually, just look at the video posted below by a user.

Check the squeaking sound coming when Xperia Z1 is vibrating. It can be a faulty hardware issue.

One of our know friend, Sai Krishna from TskSoft also had this issue and he got his Xperia Z1 replaced from Sony Service center so if you are also facing this issue first try repairing your firmware from PC Companion and if it doesn’t solve the issue just take the phone to Sony Service center and ask them to replace it.

Timeshift Video app interface from Sony D6503 Sirius Leaked

We all know Sony D6503 Sirius now, a few days ago we saw leaked pics of Sony D6503 and then full android 4.4.2 KitKat Xperia UI of Sony D6503 was leaked by same source iRimas. Some new features like 4K Video recording and Timeshift video app were seen which are quite amazing.

Timeshift Video app in new Sony D6503 Sirius will allow users to record videos in higher fps now and then they can apply slow motion effects to it. We are expecting a new and improved camera app also from Sony in new Xperia KitKat UI.

You can see an arc which we guess will be used to adjust the slow motion effects on the video made. You can select the portion where slow motion changes are to be applied and that portion can be seen in highlighted blue color.

We are soon expecting the new Sony D6503 and Sony D6603 announcement officially at the MWC 2014 event, both devices are not expected to be the flagship devices.

We checked in a comment made by “iRimas” that DooMLoRD is working on getting some features of Sony D6503 to Xperia Z1, well hope everything goes well and we can enjoy the new 4K video recording and Timeshift Video app on Xperia Z1 before they are officially rolled on Xperia Z1 ( it is expected that some features seen in KitKat UI of Sony D6503 will be kept exclusive to it only for the time being. ).

Root Xperia Z1 Compact aka Xperia Z1C, Install CWM Recovery v6.0.4.6

Xperia Z1 Compact, world’s first true mini smartphone from Sony has got root even before it is out in the hands of users officially. Xperia Z1 Compact possibly will be out in late Feb 2014 for shipping from Sony stores, well the good news is that root is now possible on Xperia Z1 Compact and other devices with same model Sony D550X.

Download and Install Xperia Android 4.4.2 KitKat Boot Animation – For Rooted Devices

Yesterday we posted a video which showed Xperia Android 4.4.2 KitKat Boot Animation running on Xperia SP, well some people liked it and some don’t. Xperia Android 4.4.2 KitKat UI was first revealed in screenshots from Sony D6503 aka Sony Sirius which included many new features besides a new Xperia Android 4.4.2 KitKat Boot Animation.

Well now Xperia Android 4.4.2 KitKat Boot Animation is available for download from the same source who posted the video yesterday and you can install it on rooted devices only for the times being. It should work well with Xperia Z1, Z Ultra, Z, ZL, ZR, SP, L, S, SL, T, V, C any many other Xperia handsets.

Before proceeding make sure you are rooted already, it will not work on non-rooted Xperia devices.

How to Install Xperia Android 4.4.2 KitKat Boot Animation ?

#Method 1 – Direct File Replacing

Do make a backup of your current bootanimation file, in case you need to revert back.

Download the below mentioned bootanimation.zip file and replace it with yours. Go to system > media and replace the current present file with below mentioned file. Make sure you provide correct permissions.

#Method 2 – Install via Recovery

Download the below mentioned XPERIAKitKatBoot.zip file and flash it in recovery, do a reboot and done.

See below it is somehow it looks with blue wallpaper in background while booting up.

Sony Magnetic Charging Dock DK36 Leaked in Sony Official User Guide – Is it for Xperia Z2 ?

Sony introduced this new feature of magnetic charging first in Xperia Z then after that almost all its high end device are enabled with it. Latest we saw Sony launching Xperia Z1 Compact at CES 2014 event and was followed by its own Sony Magnetic Charging Dock DK32 for it. Today we saw Xperia Z Ultra Wi-Fi tablet SPG421 getting launched officially in Japan and it is followed by its own Sony Magnetic Charging Dock DK33.

Sony Magnetic Charging Dock DK30 and DK31 was for Xperia Z Ultra and Xperia respectively, well to our wonder we just found a new Sony Magnetic Charging Dock DK36 in Sony’s official user guide for charging docks and the question arises for which phone it is for ?

We can’t say at this moment that for which phone is this Sony Magnetic Charging Dock DK36 really for as in the official Sony user guide also it is not written except for the “signed declaration from Sony for Conformity of Dock DK36”.

Speculated Theory :- Sony Magnetic Charging Dock DK36 is compatible with which new Xperia handset is still unknown. If follow the theory as DK30, DK31, DK32, DK33 dock are for Xperia Z Ultra, Z1, Z1 Compact and Z Ultra Wi-Fi Tablet respectively so not seen anywhere Sony Magnetic Charging Dock DK34 and DK35 should be for Sony D6603 and D6503 ( may be not in that order ) as we have recently seen Sony D6603 and Sony D6503 in pictures, AnTuTu benchmark database and even full android 4.4.2 KitKat UI was revealed for Sony D6503. Sony D6603 and Sony D6503 may launch at MWC 2014 event,

Above theory leads us here that Sony Magnetic Charging Dock DK36 is may be for some future device like very much rumored Xperia Z2 coming as next flagship device from Sony for year 2014 or it may end up being compatible with Sony D6603 and Sony D6503 but it is not expected that Sony will launch the same Sony Magnetic Charging Dock for both phones and like before they will launch two different dock separately.

[ UPDATE – 22 Jan ] A listing on MobileFun shows that Sony Magnetic Charging Dock DK36 is available for purchase for Xperia Z2. We can’t say how real is this listing is but it says price is £29.99
