Xperia Z1 Camera App AR Effect version 1.1.10 update from Play Store

At present all eyes are on android 4.3 update for Xperia Z1 and meanwhile Sony has updated Xperia Z1 Camera App AR Effect. AR Effect was previously on version 1.0.23 and now after the update, it is on version 1.1.10. All Xperia Z1 users should be getting the notification from Google Play store to update Xperia Z1 Camera App AR Effect.

No specific info regarding what has been updated in new Xperia Z1 Camera App AR Effect version 1.1.10 is given on Play Store description though some visual changes were noticeable.

Changes noticed

In previous version 1.0.23, all AR Effects icons were vertically listed and now they are horizontally listed in the app.
No improvement in the color quality, images are still captured dark ( tried in various lightning conditions ).

Android 4.4.1 KOT49E update on Google Nexus 5 has been finally rolled as an OTA update which as per Google as brought many changes in the camera app but what we have heard from Nexus 5 users they don’t seem pretty satisfied. It wasn’t expected to see android 4.4.1 update on any device but soon the android 4.4.1 update is seen on Nexus 4 and Nexus 7 2013 LTE version.

Android 4.4.1 KOT49E Update has come as OTA update on Google Nexus 4 and Nexus 7 2013 LTE version and you should be able to download it if you are on android 4.4 KRT16S build. As per users no camera improvement is seen on both devices. Nexus 7 2013 Wi-Fi version is still not seen with this Android 4.4.1 KOT49E update.

After reviewing hard-shell flip leather case from TETDED for Xperia Z1 we are very much impressed by the quality of the products they manufacturer.

TETDED sent us this Xperia Z1 hard-shell back case framed with leather as a regular review sample unit. It is priced at €28 and is shipped worldwide, just like previous reviewed case it is also available in many color variants like black, white, orange, red, navy blue, pink, purple, yellow, toffee yellow, burgundy red, espresso brown, charcoal black, olive-green, Merlot purple, Blueberry and many other textured designs with various shapes on back.

Exactly like Xperia Z1 Hard-shell flip Leather Case from TETDED, it is also shipped in same black cover with a piece of leather pasted on the front box displaying the color of the leather case.

TETDED logo is embossed at the back of case.

Today we are reviewing Xperia Z1 Hard-shell flip Leather Case from TETDED, one of the best leather case we have seen besides cases from Noreve. Recently we reviewed Xperia Z1 cases from Roxfit, RockPhone CN and Muvit miniGEL Xperia Z1 case and Essential pack.

TETDED sent us this Xperia Z1 Hard-shell flip Leather Case in Black color as a review sample unit. It is priced at 35.50 € and is shipped worldwide. The best thing about this manufacturer is that they have cases in many colors ranging from brown, black, yellow, purple, pink, navy blue, orange, red, white. We just love the variety they have.

Xperia Z1 Hard-shell flip Leather Case from TETDED is shipped in very nice black box, having a black leather piece in shape of star pasted on the box describing the black color of case. Look at the front of cover.

Back cover of case reads that it is made up of genuine cowhide leather.

As soon as you open the box, you find white cloth wrapped around the case.

Stitched in yellow-golden thread and TETDED logo is embossed at the bottom of front side flap of case. Thick grain type of leather texture is given on the surface, good for a strong grip. Do notice that there is no opening for hearing speaker on the flap of case ( in front side ).

Back side of case has the same texture just like front side with an opening for camera lens and secondary microphone.

Accessibility

Non Magnetic colsure is there in the case and at the side of opening, space for external shutter key and volume rocker buttons are open while SIM card slot is covered up

At the bottom side, speaker grills are well opened so very clear sound.

Closing flap side is very similar to notebook style. As it is totally covered from closing side so it can’t be used on Dock DK31.

Perfect opening space for 3.5 mm headphone jack is given.

Many users complain that covering around the camera lens normally obstructs the view and camera flash area but nothing here like that. Secondary microphone spot opening is at perfect location.

Very soft velvet lining is provided at the both inner sides of each flap so they don’t scratch the screen and back panel of Xperia Z1.

All ports are well accessible.

Xperia S Unofficial CyanogenMod 11 Android 4.4 KitKat from HoloUI Team

As when many Xperia devices all from 2011 to 2013 lineup are getting unofficial CyanogenMod 11 android 4.4 KitKat builds from many Xperia developers, Xperia S users were asking when a ROM will come for their devices. Here it comes, HoloUI team has created an Unofficial CyanogenMod 11 Android 4.4 KitKat for Xperia S exclusively though in alpha stage working smooth.

Previously we have seen Unofficial CyanogenMod 11 Android 4.4 KitKat build coming for Xperia 2011 Devices from LegacyXperia Project and for Xperia Z1, Z, ZL, ZR, Z Ultra, T, V, Go, P, Sola, U, SP, Tablet Z; many builds from which coming from FreeXperiaTeam. Now almost every Xperia device have got Unofficial CyanogenMod 11 Android 4.4 KitKat build except for Xperia Ion.

As per HoloUI team, ROM is still in alpha stage, if you want to try it you can. Installing such ROMs require you to unlock the bootloader of phone. Keep in mind to have a backup of the DRM keys before unlocking the bootloader for safety.

Unofficial CyanogenMod 11 for Xperia 2011 Devices from LegacyXperia Project

Future of Android 4.4 KitKat firmware update on Xperia 2011 devices is totally dark officially and even on 2012 Xperia devices, it is in shadow so far. In the meantime developer community has been a lot friendly as recently we saw unofficial CyanogenMod 11 coming up for various devices viz. Xperia Z1, Z, ZL, ZR, Z Ultra, T, V, Go, P, Sola, U, SP, Tablet Z; many builds from which coming from FreeXperiaTeam.

For Xperia 2011 devices viz. Xperia Arc/Arc S, Neo, Neo V, Pro, Mini Pro, Active, Mini, Ray, Live with Walkman; LegacyXperia Project Team has come up with unofficial CyanogenMod 11 now. As tested by many users, ROMs are pretty much stable only a few things are not working.

How to play Flash Videos on Android 4.4 KitKat on Nexus 5, 4, Nexus 7, 10 Tablet

Android 4.4 KitKat marked its presence with Google Nexus 5 and soon on Google Nexus 4 and Google Nexus 7 Tablet but what actually is missing from Android 4.4 KitKat build from Nexus 5 is that playing flash videos is totally incompatible, checked with browsers like Dolphin, Firefox and Google Chrome.

All credits to XDA user “surviveland”, he has found a way to play flash videos on Android 4.4 KitKat on Nexus 5, as per him some API’s have been removed from Android 4.4 KitKat build which were used as to play flash content. Follow the guide below to play Flash Videos on Android 4.4 KitKat on Nexus 5.

Below mentioned guide is confirmed working for Dolphin browser on Google Nexus 5 , for rest you try and let us know.

First of all download below mentioned apps from Google Play.

Download Dolphin Browser and Dolphin Jetpack.
Download hacked version of flash player from below link. Unintsall any flash player already installed on your device and then install fresh one from below.

To install apps from unknown sources, you need to go to settings > securities > unknown sources option, check it to install apps from location other than Google Play Store.

Check in Dolphin browser that flash settings are on, navigate to menu > settings > web content > flash player.

It’s done you can play flash contents in Android 4.4 KitKat on Nexus 5 especially in Dolphin browser. As it is not officially supported so speed of loading may be a bit slow.

Above method is confirmed working on Google Nexus 4, Nexus 7 2013, Nexus 10 running Android 4.4 KitKat build. As per many users it is not working with FireFox browser. Let us know if you have tried it and it worked for you or not, drop you comments.

Muvit miniGEL case for Xperia Z1 is like another back case for a phone, but the difference is it is made up of rubber so soft and smooth and whose back is a bit thick so provides solid grip. Ascendeo.fr sent us this Muvit miniGEL case for Xperia Z1 as a review sample unit. It is priced at € 14.90 inc VAT and is shipped worldwide.

As usual Muvit use same silver box packaging for their products with a purple shade. Have a look at the front cover of the box it says “soft and skin-tight case for Xperia Z1”.

Back side of Muvit miniGEL case is a bit thick, good it is as it provides very strong grip while holding it and placing it on rough surface. It do draws scratches just like another cases if used roughly. It is of translucent brown color, looks great on Xperia Z1.

Accessibility

All corners are covered just like bumper case. Perfect opening for hearing speaker and notification light area.

Power button is clearly visible and is not covered while external camera shutter button and volume rocker keys are covered with a soft plastic layer so you can press them easily. No problem is faced while pressing them but it will look unusual to you in starting. Camera shutter key has to press a but hard. SIM card slot is completely covered up, to open it you need to remove the case.

The best advantage of Muvit miniGEL case for Xperia Z1 is that magnetic charging slot is not covered up you can use EC21 magnetic charging cable to charge your phone while case is on and even microSD card slot area is also opened. But on putting the case on Xperia Z1 and placing it on Sony Dock DK31, it was not inserting properly so can’t be used. Though while EC21 magnetic charging cable was connected it was falling off very frequently so it seems case has got some issues due to thickness to hold the cable.

Proper opening of 3.5 mm headphone jack is there in case.

Camera and flash opening with secondary microphone is included at the bottom side of case.

We have already reviewed two flip cases for Xperia Z1 from Roxfit and RockPhone CN. This case is very much similar to Xperia Z Smart Pack Flip Case by Roxfit. ( Do check it you will find a lot smiliarity in both )

Case is made up of fine leather grain like material gives you a feel of solid plastic material and back side is made up a solid plastic material. It is stitched with a white thread at its all sides front and back. No logo is embossed on front side.

Magnetic flip closer is provided to close the case automatically with a credit card slot inside the front flap. Inner lining of the case is made up of soft velvet to protect screen from any rough scratches.

All ports are easily accessible while case is on though no hearing speaker opening is provided on front flap of case which is strictly essential in a flip case. Case’s adjuster which hold the Xperia Z1 inside case are quite smooth so don’t worry about any side of your phone being scrapped by them.

Case seems a bit thick while closed. Though feel solid in hand but it’s bulky and thick. Another weird thing an opening for secondary microphone is provided at back of case but for hearing speaker is missing on front flap.

[ Review ] Xperia Z1 Book Flip Case from Roxfit

Xperia Z1 Book Flip Case from Roxfit comes in an orange box whose front cover reads its brief description as “credit card slot, Ultra thin fitting, Talk when open or closed, charges when open or closed”. Let’s have a look at the cover front.

Outer covering of the case is made from some rubber material which gives a leather look from a distance but if you touch it, you can make out that it is actually rubber material. On bottom of case, “Made for XPERIA” branding is embossed and there is a cut at the top for hearing speaker.

Back of case is similar to front, no branding embossed.

The bumper sides of case are made up of some hard plastic material which is very hard actually and we find a lot trouble to put our Xperia Z1 inside the case, as there were strong chances that those bumper may scrap the aluminium coating from the case, so BEWARE WHILE PUTTING Z1 INSIDE CASE.!

Back side of case has an opening for camera and secondary speaker.

At the book flip sides, there is an opening for USB port, so you can charge your Xperia Z1 while the case is on.

Unfortunately there is no other opening at side, if you wish to charge your Xperia Z1 using Sony EC21 magnetic charging cable you need to open the front flap of case.

Proper space is provided at bottom of case so there is no obstruction in speaker grill. Volume is clearer while case is on.

At the right side, there is perfect opening for SIM card slot, volume rocker buttons and camera button.

Soft micro suede is used to make inner lining which keeps the Xperia Z1 screen dust free. On the inside of front flap you will find credit card slots.

Pros

Fits perfectly well.
Hard shell used to make back.
Soft inner linings to protect screen.
Card slots inside case.
Light Weight.

Cons

No opening for magnetic charging slot while case is on.
Hard shell may scarp the aluminium coating from Xperia Z1 while putting or taking out case.
Can’t be used on Sony Dock Dk31 properly.

Note :- We have not put our Xperia Z1 inside the case because case was very tight and it may have scrapped the aluminium coating from our Xperia Z1.

Xperia Z1 Android 4.3 14.2.A.0.XXX, 14.2.A.1.XX firmwares spotted

While Xperia Z1 users are waiting for official android 4.3 update for their devices which is due in December as per Sony’s statement on their blog we have spotted some new android 4.3 firmware set running on Xperia Z1 while running handset detection program by our blog. At present Xperia Z1 is running android 4.2.2 version and 14.1.G.2.257 firmware series and recently android 4.3 14.2.A.0.205 firmware was spotted on Sony D5503 model.

With respect to android 4.3 14.2.A.0.205 firmware spotted running on Sony D5503 model, we spotted Android 4.3 14.2.A.0.XXX, 14.2.A.1.XXX firmware builds exclusively running on Sony Xperia Z1 C6903, while some of the builds were also spotted on C6902. All the Android 4.3 14.2.A.0.XXX, 14.2.A.1.XXX builds seemed as various testing versions and one of them can be a final version also, hopefully the most higher build.

If you have noticed above images clearly you must have seen that android 4.2.2 14.1.G.2.260 firmware is also detected which was never rolled yet as the latest android 4.2.2 build spotted on Xperia Z1 is 14.1.G.2.259. Another mysterious android 4.2.2 14.1.X.6.258 is also spotted.

It is not very clear so far which build will finally be rolled on Xperia Z1 as android 4.3 firmware, it can be any of the above stated firmware or can be the any new build which has not been detected yet.

As per our confidential source, next stop for Xperia Z1 will be android 4.3 now ( no more android 4.2.2 build will be rolled ) and is in pre-final testing version and soon all Xperia Z1 users will taste it. Xperia Z1S rumored to be priced at 3600 Yuan i.e. 590$ – Seen Beside White and Purple Xperia Z1 Again

More and more Xperia Z1S images are allegedly leaking daily and from the same source all the time i.e. Digi-Wo, this time the same Digi-Wo user who previously leaked picture of Xperia Z1S on top of Xperia Z1 and speculated that it may not be called as Xperia Z1S has again leaked 3 set of Xperia Z1S pics two of them are along with Xperia Z1 sharing the same surrounding as it was in previously leaked pics.

In the first set of pic you can clearly see the Xperia Z1S calling app’s dialing pad interface, which is expected to run android 4.3 jelly bean as seen in previous leaked pic where model Sony D5503 ( rumored to be Xperia Z1S ) featured android 4.3 14.2.A.0.205 firmware.

In other two pics Xperia Z1S is seen with Xperia Z1 ( purple and white in color ). In one pic you can see Xperia Z1 standing beside Xperia Z1S where you can compare the size of both phones. An interesting annotation on pic reads that Xperia Z1S may be priced at 3600 Yuan which is approx. equal to 590$ and may be available in first quarter of year 2014.

In the third pic, Xperia Z1S is seen with white Xperia Z1 and annotation on pic reads that it will also feature the same Sony’s G Lens as Xperia Z1 supports.

Yesterday Sony D5503 was spotted at Indonesian Postel website, confirming the model number and its existence. A lot many rumors have piled up now over the features of Xperia Z1S from Digi-Wo tipsters where one states that Xperia Z1S may feature IPS Display and one stated that it may not be called as Xperia Z1S.

Rumors have caught more fire now, this time Sony D5503 model which is speculated as Xperia Z1S aka Xperia Z1 Mini ( international version of Xperia Z1 and sibling of Xperia Z1F ) has marked its presence on a legit Indonesian Postel website ( FCC equivalent of Indonesia ). It is well-known for outing the names of many Sony Mobile’s new models like Sony C6833 and C6802 appeared in past.

It’s not the first time we have heard of Sony D5503, it was first spotted with its camera picture sample then real pics of Sony D5503 were leaked from all angles confirming the model number and android 4.3 running as 14.2.A.0.205 firmware build.

As you can see it is latest updated on 20 November i.e. today, so it definitely proves the existence of Sony D5503 somewhat officially this time but the global model number has not been confirmed yet. Lately on Sony Mobile global product page listing of Xperia Z1S was spotted but it was taken soon which confuses again about the branding Xperia Z1S.

As December comes closer, release of android 4.3 update for Xperia handsets comes nearer and in the mean time T-Mobile has updated Xperia Z C6606/C6616 for the very first time to android 4.2.2 10.3.1.E.0.191 firmware from android 4.1.2 10.1.1.B.0.166 firmware update. It was certified by PTCRB back in early November Well it is quite late for the T-Mobile to update Xperia Z on android 4.2.2 when the world is talking about android 4.3 and android 4.4 while android 4.2.2 was rolled on global version of Xperia Z back in June.

Carrier based Xperia Z1 14.1.G.2.259 firmware update rolling out

At present Xperia Z1 suffering from many firmware glitches, though 14.1.G.2.257 firmware update sorted out many as per Sony but users are still facing those issues some of the main are display calibration issues ( yellow hue issues ), noisy pics from camera app etc.

At the same time 14.1.G.2.259 firmware was certified on PTCRB for Xperia Z1 C6903 on October 23 almost a month ago which was as per our sources meant for only carrier based devices and here it comes.

14.1.G.2.259 firmware update has been released now for Xperia Z1 in Australia on “Telstra Australia” carrier dated 14/11/13. It is expected to be bring some minor changes only.

Xperia Z1 14.1.G.2.259 firmware seen as OTA update sized 95.2 MB on a user’s handset, do check it may also be available via PC Companion or SUS. Look for a notification as shown below. Users who have got this update are saying it brought better battery life with it now.

It still keeps Xperia Z1 on android 4.2.2 jelly bean, hoped as last android 4.2.2 update on Xperia Z1 before we see android 4.3 officially rolling in December as Sony said.

Xperia Amami / Sony D5503 to be called as Xperia Z1S, doubt prevails ?

Just after a day when we saw Xperia Z1S photo snapped beside with Xperia Z1 from a Digi-Wo user, a new speculation has come up whether Sony D5503 will be called as Xperia Z1S or not. The moment when Xperia Z1F saw it’s release in Japan, rumors started about the existence of Xperia Z1S, international version of Xperia Z1F.

A new user on Digi-Wo has posted a fresh pic of Xperia Z1S snapped on top of Xperia Z1, comparing their size but the annotations reads “It is called Xperia Amami right, DoCoMo version Xperia Z1F as SO-02F right, but not Z1S for now“.

Rumor says Chinese version of Xperia Z1S will come as Sony M55H. Check the pic below yourself of Xperia Z1S on top of Xperia Z1. How we can say the below handset is not Xperia Z1F, well look at this another pic of Xperia Z1S with Xperia Z1, it shares some surroundings of spoon, fork and table cloth as it is.

If it is considered to be true that Sony D5503 is not named as Xperia Z1S then what it is ? What about the recent spotting of Xperia Z1S being listed on Sony Mobile official website for a moment…

Are all these a user’s speculation ? A lot ago we saw EvLeaks leaking a pic of Xperia Z1 mini version, naming it as Xperia Z1S. Well nothing more than that has come up for the existence of Xperia Z1S yet.

We have seen that Sony D5503 do exist but is it also Xperia Z1S or not, we will keep you updated on that. Let us know what do you think…

Xperia L,E,TX,J,SP,Miro,Tipo,UL Listed on CyanogenMod Website – ROM Coming soon officially or not ?

Good news for Xperia L, E, TX, J, SP, Miro, Tipo, UL users is that CM ROM may be coming soon from CyanongenMod Devs as just spotted said Xperia devices on CyanogenMod official website under CyanogenMod download page. At present no build is available for above mentioned Xperia handsets.

Xperia L (taoshan), Xperia E (nanhu), Xperia TX (hayabusa), Xperia J (jlo), Xperia SP (huashan), Xperia miro (mesona), Xperia tipo (tapioca), Xperia UL (gaga) are the newly added Xperia handsets for CyanogenMod ROM, along with already present Xperia arco S (hikari), Xperia ZL (odin), Xperia V (tsubasa), Xperia Tablet Z Wifi (pollux_windy), Xperia Z (yuga), Xperia ZR (dogo), Xperia T (mint), Xperia Tablet Z (pollux), Xperia S (nozomi), Xperia ion (aoba) and Xperia Z Ultra (togari) as per the devices list mentioned on CyanogenMod official website under “Sony” search tag.

[ UPDATE ] – “uberlaggydarwin” XDA member says that none of Sony developers inside CM owns Xperia L handset, they don’t announce anything for their devices until they are making it, as all above devices mentioned in TITLE of post are seen on CM website, so it doesn’t mean that a ROM is cooking up or not.

A lot many new Xperia devices have been added, some promising ones which are missing from the list is mighty Xperia Z1, Xperia C and Xperia M.

Xperia Z1 Screen and Body bent appears – User’s fault or Hardware issue ?

Some users are raising concerns about the how well Xperia Z1 is build, we have come across some pictures of Xperia Z1 on Sony Mobile forum where users are complaining that their Xperia Z1’s screen and body has bent from its regular position and is lifted up, well at this stage it is hard to tell that is it hardware fault or user’s fault. Well let’s have a deep look into the matter what happened.

Xperia SP Frame Bent Issue appeared like Xperia Z1 – Poor Build Quality or User’s Fault ?

This is what we found “a user says that his one month old Xperia Z1 is bent itself, he didn’t sit on it”…Check the pic below where bottom end of Xperia Z1 has bent.

In a first look, it seems user has sat over Xperia Z1 while it was in back pocket may be, but the concerned owner denies this fact…only God knows the fact.

Another user has also posted the pic of his Xperia Z1 which is bent from front side. This user claims that he has rectified the bent by pressing it, and now 99% it is horizontal ( pic not attached ).

It’s quite obvious phone doesn’t come like that, user must have done something to it, may be sat on it or pressurized it.

An XDA user dante2086 posted some pics of his bent Xperia Z1, it looks awful terrible, he mentioned that his phone got some serious heat exposure lately so has heat done it for him ? User claims he never put it in back pocket or sat on it.!

Another user “Mart Harwood” sent us his picture of bent Xperia Z1, according to him it suddenly appeared, he didn’t do anything, as per him it may be the heat which is causing this type of distortion in the Xperia Z1 body.

Well we don’t think it is a hardware fault as it is hard to believe that it happened itself, but this is the case as per the users who are complaining about this issue, Is it an issue, is it right to call it an issue…Is heat causing this issue as no normal usage phone reaches 40 degree very easily and while gaming it reaches upto 45-46 degree.

Another Xperia Z1 user “V8Matt” has got in touch with us, and his Xperia Z1 also suffers from unconditional bends, that’s pathetic.

It seems the frame bent issue on Xperia Z1 is getting worse, another user “Thomas Uldahl” reached us with the below image.
