Xperia Z1S L39t Images sufaced at China’s TENAA – Network License Passed

As what happened with Xperia Z1 / L39h ( Honami ) whose images surfaced at China’s TENAA before it’s official release, same has happened with very much rumored Xperia Z1S now. Long time ago EvLeaks posted a pic of Xperia Z1S on their twitter page which was very similar to Xperia Z1 but position of ports and the headphone jack was different which they branded as “Xperia Z1S” and whose listing was also seen at Sony Mobile’s product page for a moment has again marked it’s presence on a very reliable platform this time.

W just spotted that Xperia Z1S L39t model’s network license has been passed by Telecommunication Equipment Certification Center MIIT China, spotted at TENAA which is taken as Chinese FCC. As per the info Xperia Z1S L39t supports TD-LTE/TD-SCDMA/GSM formats, OS – Android and support for LTE FDD / WCDMA network capacity and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan in the international roaming.

[ UPDATE ] It seems L39t is Chinese LTE Version of Xperia Z1 and the same may come as Z1S ( model number not confirmed yet ) as LTE version in US as C6916.

In below pic of Xperia Z1S L39t, you can clearly see the position of headphone jack is at different location as when compared to Xperia Z1 and the side ports too. Location of front cam is at opposite side.

Left Side pose of Xperia Z1S L39t – This side is similar to Xperia Z1 except the ports location again.

Above images of Xperia Z1S L39t are exactly similar to what EvLeaks leaked, sparking the rumors to the name Xperia Z1S even more this time. Check the pic of Xperia Z1S leaked by EvLeaks and you will see how similar they are. We have also heard that Xperia Z1 Mini ( aka Sony D5503 ) may not be called as Xperia Z1S.

At this time we can’t be sure that which model is Xperia L39t exactly is but it seems it is Xperia Z1S and soon we may see it officially. It is also in rumors that it may launch on 16 December but that is 100% rumor so far. It seems Xperia Z1S is a facelift of Xperia Z1. As when every Xperia user is waiting for android 4.3 to be officially rolled out, it seems something fishy has come up. An XDA user
Zack0905 claims that he has got android 4.3 14.2.A.0.290 firmware OTA Update on his Xperia Z Ultra. Though nothing else specific he has posted regarding this 14.2.A.0.290 firmware update on Xperia Z Ultra except that he has unlocked device and so can’t update it. WE STILL DOUBT THE ANDROID VERSION.

Original poster has posted the OTA update 14.2.A.0.290 package which he downloaded on his Xperia Z Ultra. Yesterday was saw leaked screenshots of Xperia ZL Android 4.3 10.4.B.X.XXX firmware and a lot ago we found via handset detection that 14.2.A.0.2XX build is running as Android 4.3 on both Xperia Z1 and Z Ultra and more specifically 14.2.A.0.290 is running now as testing version. So OP’s claims seems true, but we are not sure though as because below update don’t say it is android 4.3.

It is clearly visible that UI has gone white exactly what Xperia Z1 sports in android 4.2.2 firmware which was already expected that Xperia Z, ZL, ZR and Tablet Z may get same UI as Xperia Z1 sports.

Xperial L 15.3.A.0.27 firmware certified by PTCRB – Bug Fixing Update

Sony recently crowned Xperia L with android 4.2.2 15.3.A.0.26 firmware update with which Xperia L joined the elite club of Xperia Z series which were already on android 4.2.2 firmware a lot ago. Thought the 15.3.A.0.26 firmware update brought many new features on Xperia L but with it brought some bugs too.

Xperial L 15.3.A.0.27 firmware ( android 4.2.2 ) is recently certified on PTCRB, a minor bug fixing update over previous android 4.2.2 15.3.A.0.26 firmware. 15.3.A.0.27 firmware is spotted for both Xperia L C2105 and C2104. No ETA for the 15.3.A.0.27 firmware update yet. We saw many users who were asking us to post previous firmware builds which clearly states that the current firmware has some serious bugs.

No specific date is there for the release of 15.3.A.0.27 firmware but it should come soon hopefully, a delightful news for all Xperia L owners. Just now KDDI in Japan is updating Xperia UL SOL22 for AU on Android 4.2.2 10.3.1.D.0.220 firmware update. as mentioned on their official website. Android 4.2.2 is already available on every Xperia Z series handset quite a while ago, it seems they are pretty late.

10.3.1.D.0.220 firmware brings Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean on Xperia UL SOL22 from android 4.1 firmware. 10.3.1.D.0.220 firmware is of 897.7 MB if done via PC or if an OTA update is done, it is of 234.7 MB size.

[ REVIEW ] Xperia Z Book Type Leather Case from PDair

After reviewing a lot many cases in a row for Xperia Z1 from Roxfit, Brando, TETDED, Muvit, RockPhone CN, PDair today we will review a premium book type case from PDair for Xperia Z. Xperia Z has such a sleek body that one would think twice before covering it with any case but in order to protect the glass panels on both side you should opt a case.

Xperia Z Book Type Leather Case from PDair came as review sample unit for us, it is priced very decently at $29.99 and is shipped worldwide ( from Hong Kong ). Available in more than 10 colors and also comes with a leather belt clip.

Xperia Z Book Type Leather Case from PDair comes in brown box similarly just like Xperia Z1 case came from them. “PDair” logo is embossed on top of box.

The case is as usual stitched in white thread and is made from premium handmade deluxe South Korean cowhide leather. We must say the quality of leather is very good and it smells a bit for some days due to leather stuff issues.

We are currently noticing that many flip book style cases have no hearing speaker opening in the front flap in this case it is also missing may be because the thickness of front flap it too much as it may not be practically possible to do a hole then.

It comes with a magnetic colsure to close the front flap.

Back of the case is fitted with removable 360 degrees belt clip which can be very well inserted in the belt of trousers or jeans. A new Walkman app version 8.0.A.0.3 OTA update is now rolling on Xperia Z devices. It’s the latest build over previous Walkman app version 7.15.A.0.0 which as brought many new features this time. Walkman app version 8.0.A.0.3 OTA Update is already confirmed on Xperia Z1, Z Ultra and Xperia Z, it should soon hit other devices also ( Xperia ZR, ZL, SP etc hopefully ). It has bring the new playlist features besides bug fixes.

Continuing our set of reviews for Xperia Z1 cases, we have brought today a unique hard-shell back case for Xperia Z1 which is framed with leather at its back and all sides, another fantastic product from TETDED. After reviewing hard-shell flip leather case from TETDED for Xperia Z1 we are very much impressed by the quality of the products they manufacturer.

TETDED sent us this Xperia Z1 hard-shell back case framed with leather as a regular review sample unit. It is priced at €28 and is shipped worldwide, just like previous reviewed case it is also available in many color variants like black, white, orange, red, navy blue, pink, purple, yellow, toffee yellow, burgundy red, espresso brown, charcoal black, olive-green, Merlot purple, Blueberry and many other textured designs with various shapes on back.

Exactly like Xperia Z1 Hard-shell flip Leather Case from TETDED, it is also shipped in same black cover with a piece of leather pasted on the front box displaying the color of the leather case.

TETDED logo is embossed at the back of case.

It is very similar to any other hard-shell back case except that it’s back is framed with genuine cowhide leather ( handmade ). Thick grain texture is given at the back of case with perfect bumpers around each corner.

Accessibility

At the right side of Xperia Z1 hard-shell back case framed with Leather from TETDED external camera shutter button, power button, volume rocker buttons are exposed while SIM card slot it covered by the case.

TETDED, don’t know if you have heard the name or not but they have got one of the best colored varieties of premium leather cases for Xperia smartphones. Today we are reviewing Xperia Z1 Hard-shell flip Leather Case from TETDED, one of the best leather case we have seen besides cases from Noreve. Recently we reviewed Xperia Z1 cases from Roxfit, RockPhone CN and Muvit miniGEL Xperia Z1 case and Essential pack.

TETDED sent us this Xperia Z1 Hard-shell flip Leather Case in Black color as a review sample unit. It is priced at 35.50 € and is shipped worldwide. The best thing about this manufacturer is that they have cases in many colors ranging from brown, black, yellow, purple, pink, navy blue, orange, red, white. We just love the variety they have.

Xperia Z1 Hard-shell flip Leather Case from TETDED is shipped in very nice black box, having a black leather piece in shape of star pasted on the box describing the black color of case. Look at the front of cover.

Back cover of case reads that it is made up of genuine cowhide leather.

As soon as you open the box, you find white cloth wrapped around the case.

Stitched in yellow-golden thread and TETDED logo is embossed at the bottom of front side flap of case. Thick grain type of leather texture is given on the surface, good for a strong grip. Do notice that there is no opening for hearing speaker on the flap of case ( in front side ).

Back side of case has the same texture just like front side with an opening for camera lens and secondary microphone.

Accessibility

Non Magnetic colsure is there in the case and at the side of opening, space for external shutter key and volume rocker buttons are open while SIM card slot is covered up

At the bottom side, speaker grills are well opened so very clear sound.

Closing flap side is very similar to notebook style. As it is totally covered from closing side so it can’t be used on Dock DK31.

Perfect opening space for 3.5 mm headphone jack is given.

Many users complain that covering around the camera lens normally obstructs the view and camera flash area but nothing here like that. Secondary microphone spot opening is at perfect location.

Very soft velvet lining is provided at the both inner sides of each flap so they don’t scratch the screen and back panel of Xperia Z1.

Xperia S Unofficial CyanogenMod 11 Android 4.4 KitKat from HoloUI Team

As when many Xperia devices all from 2011 to 2013 lineup are getting unofficial CyanogenMod 11 android 4.4 KitKat builds from many Xperia developers, Xperia S users were asking when a ROM will come for their devices. Here it comes, HoloUI team has created an Unofficial CyanogenMod 11 Android 4.4 KitKat for Xperia S exclusively though in alpha stage working smooth.

Previously we have seen Unofficial CyanogenMod 11 Android 4.4 KitKat build coming for Xperia 2011 Devices from LegacyXperia Project and for Xperia Z1, Z, ZL, ZR, Z Ultra, T, V, Go, P, Sola, U, SP, Tablet Z; many builds from which coming from FreeXperiaTeam. Now almost every Xperia device have got Unofficial CyanogenMod 11 Android 4.4 KitKat build except for Xperia Ion.

As per HoloUI team, ROM is still in alpha stage, if you want to try it you can. Installing such ROMs require you to unlock the bootloader of phone. Keep in mind to have a backup of the DRM keys before unlocking the bootloader for safety.

Unofficial CyanogenMod 11 for Xperia 2011 Devices from LegacyXperia Project

Future of Android 4.4 KitKat firmware update on Xperia 2011 devices is totally dark officially and even on 2012 Xperia devices, it is in shadow so far. In the meantime developer community has been a lot friendly as recently we saw unofficial CyanogenMod 11 coming up for various devices viz. Xperia Z1, Z, ZL, ZR, Z Ultra, T, V, Go, P, Sola, U, SP, Tablet Z; many builds from which coming from FreeXperiaTeam.

For Xperia 2011 devices viz. Xperia Arc/Arc S, Neo, Neo V, Pro, Mini Pro, Active, Mini, Ray, Live with Walkman; LegacyXperia Project Team has come up with unofficial CyanogenMod 11 now. As tested by many users, ROMs are pretty much stable only a few things are not working.

If you want to try Android 4.4 KitKat CyanogenMod build on your above mentioned device then you should know that installing such ROMs require you to unlock the bootloader of phone. Keep in mind to have a backup of the DRM keys before unlocking the bootloader for safety.

How to play Flash Videos on Android 4.4 KitKat on Nexus 5, 4, Nexus 7, 10 Tablet

Android 4.4 KitKat marked its presence with Google Nexus 5 and soon on Google Nexus 4 and Google Nexus 7 Tablet but what actually is missing from Android 4.4 KitKat build from Nexus 5 is that playing flash videos is totally incompatible, checked with browsers like Dolphin, Firefox and Google Chrome.

All credits to XDA user “surviveland”, he has found a way to play flash videos on Android 4.4 KitKat on Nexus 5, as per him some API’s have been removed from Android 4.4 KitKat build which were used as to play flash content. Follow the guide below to play Flash Videos on Android 4.4 KitKat on Nexus 5.

Below mentioned guide is confirmed working for Dolphin browser on Google Nexus 5 , for rest you try and let us know.

First of all download below mentioned apps from Google Play.

Download Dolphin Browser and Dolphin Jetpack.
Download hacked version of flash player from below link. Unintsall any flash player already installed on your device and then install fresh one from below.

Download Adobe Flash Player 11.1.apk | 4MB

To install apps from unknown sources, you need to go to settings > securities > unknown sources option, check it to install apps from location other than Google Play Store.

Check in Dolphin browser that flash settings are on, navigate to menu > settings > web content > flash player.

It’s done you can play flash contents in Android 4.4 KitKat on Nexus 5 especially in Dolphin browser. As it is not officially supported so speed of loading may be a bit slow.

Above method is confirmed working on Google Nexus 4, Nexus 7 2013, Nexus 10 running Android 4.4 KitKat build. As per many users it is not working with FireFox browser. Let us know if you have tried it and it worked for you or not, drop you comments.

We like Muvit products and hope you also like it.

Muvit miniGEL case for Xperia Z1 is like another back case for a phone, but the difference is it is made up of rubber so soft and smooth and whose back is a bit thick so provides solid grip. Ascendeo.fr sent us this Muvit miniGEL case for Xperia Z1 as a review sample unit. It is priced at € 14.90 inc VAT and is shipped worldwide.

As usual Muvit use same silver box packaging for their products with a purple shade. Have a look at the front cover of the box it says “soft and skin-tight case for Xperia Z1”.

Back side of Muvit miniGEL case is a bit thick, good it is as it provides very strong grip while holding it and placing it on rough surface. It do draws scratches just like another cases if used roughly. It is of translucent brown color, looks great on Xperia Z1.

Accessibility

All corners are covered just like bumper case. Perfect opening for hearing speaker and notification light area.

Power button is clearly visible and is not covered while external camera shutter button and volume rocker keys are covered with a soft plastic layer so you can press them easily. No problem is faced while pressing them but it will look unusual to you in starting. Camera shutter key has to press a but hard. SIM card slot is completely covered up, to open it you need to remove the case.

The best advantage of Muvit miniGEL case for Xperia Z1 is that magnetic charging slot is not covered up you can use EC21 magnetic charging cable to charge your phone while case is on and even microSD card slot area is also opened. But on putting the case on Xperia Z1 and placing it on Sony Dock DK31, it was not inserting properly so can’t be used. Though while EC21 magnetic charging cable was connected it was falling off very frequently so it seems case has got some issues due to thickness to hold the cable.

Proper opening of 3.5 mm headphone jack is there in case.

Camera and flash opening with secondary microphone is included at the bottom side of case.

Pros

Light Weight.
Soft and skin-tight.
Durable.
Translucent in nature.
Perfectly accessible at all openings.

Cons

Problem inholding EC21 charging cable tightly.

Muvit miniGEL case for Xperia Z1 seems a very good choice if you don’t want to use any sold hard back case for sake bulkiness.
