Sony Xperia Z1 needs no introduction as you all know it well Sony shipped it in many regions with different accessories like Xperia Z1 C6902 ( Black ) handset was shipped along with MH-750 white earphones which we also got with our Xperia SL Lt26ii a year back and with some Xperia Z1 C6903 ( Black ) handset a black earphone piece was shipped and in many regions with carrier device they didn’t ship earphones along with the Xperia Z1, God knows what Sony’s marketing team is upto, but that’s kind of weird.

Muvit, a big name when it comes to Sony Xperia accessories. Black Muvit Stick n’ Stand case for Xperia Z1 was shipped by Sony free here in India worth $50 or INR 2990. Muvit Essential pack for Xperia Z1 is the next big product from them. It includes a black leather flip case ( book style ) and a Sony car charger with a micro USB cable.

Last time we reviewed Muvit Sony Xperia Z wireless charging pack, which is a good wireless charging solution for Xperia Z owners. Ascendeo.fr sent us this Muvit Essential pack for Xperia Z1 as a review sample unit. It is priced at € 39.90 inc VAT and is shipped worldwide.

Muvit Essential pack for Xperia Z1 comes in a silver box whose front displays the pic of the contents it has.

The back cover of box reads the description in various languages and the detailed specification of the leather case included.

Muvit Black Leather flip case for Xperia Z1

We have already reviewed two flip cases for Xperia Z1 from Roxfit and RockPhone CN. This case is very much similar to Xperia Z Smart Pack Flip Case by Roxfit. ( Do check it you will find a lot smiliarity in both )

Case is made up of fine leather grain like material gives you a feel of solid plastic material and back side is made up a solid plastic material. It is stitched with a white thread at its all sides front and back. No logo is embossed on front side.

Magnetic flip closer is provided to close the case automatically with a credit card slot inside the front flap. Inner lining of the case is made up of soft velvet to protect screen from any rough scratches.

All ports are easily accessible while case is on though no hearing speaker opening is provided on front flap of case which is strictly essential in a flip case. Case’s adjuster which hold the Xperia Z1 inside case are quite smooth so don’t worry about any side of your phone being scrapped by them.

Case seems a bit thick while closed. Though feel solid in hand but it’s bulky and thick. Another weird thing an opening for secondary microphone is provided at back of case but for hearing speaker is missing on front flap.

[ Review ] Xperia Z1 Book Flip Case from Roxfit

Xperia Z1 Book Flip Case from Roxfit comes in an orange box whose front cover reads its brief description as “credit card slot, Ultra thin fitting, Talk when open or closed, charges when open or closed”. Let’s have a look at the cover front.

Outer covering of the case is made from some rubber material which gives a leather look from a distance but if you touch it, you can make out that it is actually rubber material. On bottom of case, “Made for XPERIA” branding is embossed and there is a cut at the top for hearing speaker.

Back of case is similar to front, no branding embossed.

The bumper sides of case are made up of some hard plastic material which is very hard actually and we find a lot trouble to put our Xperia Z1 inside the case, as there were strong chances that those bumper may scrap the aluminium coating from the case, so BEWARE WHILE PUTTING Z1 INSIDE CASE.!

Back side of case has an opening for camera and secondary speaker.

At the book flip sides, there is an opening for USB port, so you can charge your Xperia Z1 while the case is on.

Unfortunately there is no other opening at side, if you wish to charge your Xperia Z1 using Sony EC21 magnetic charging cable you need to open the front flap of case.

Proper space is provided at bottom of case so there is no obstruction in speaker grill. Volume is clearer while case is on.

At the right side, there is perfect opening for SIM card slot, volume rocker buttons and camera button.

Soft micro suede is used to make inner lining which keeps the Xperia Z1 screen dust free. On the inside of front flap you will find credit card slots.

Pros

Fits perfectly well.
Hard shell used to make back.
Soft inner linings to protect screen.
Card slots inside case.
Light Weight.

Cons

No opening for magnetic charging slot while case is on.
Hard shell may scarp the aluminium coating from Xperia Z1 while putting or taking out case.
Can’t be used on Sony Dock Dk31 properly.

Note :- We have not put our Xperia Z1 inside the case because case was very tight and it may have scrapped the aluminium coating from our Xperia Z1.

Xperia Z1 Android 4.3 14.2.A.0.XXX, 14.2.A.1.XX firmwares spotted

While Xperia Z1 users are waiting for official android 4.3 update for their devices which is due in December as per Sony’s statement on their blog we have spotted some new android 4.3 firmware set running on Xperia Z1 while running handset detection program by our blog. At present Xperia Z1 is running android 4.2.2 version and 14.1.G.2.257 firmware series and recently android 4.3 14.2.A.0.205 firmware was spotted on Sony D5503 model.

With respect to android 4.3 14.2.A.0.205 firmware spotted running on Sony D5503 model, we spotted Android 4.3 14.2.A.0.XXX, 14.2.A.1.XXX firmware builds exclusively running on Sony Xperia Z1 C6903, while some of the builds were also spotted on C6902. All the Android 4.3 14.2.A.0.XXX, 14.2.A.1.XXX builds seemed as various testing versions and one of them can be a final version also, hopefully the most higher build.

If you have noticed above images clearly you must have seen that android 4.2.2 14.1.G.2.260 firmware is also detected which was never rolled yet as the latest android 4.2.2 build spotted on Xperia Z1 is 14.1.G.2.259. Another mysterious android 4.2.2 14.1.X.6.258 is also spotted.

It is not very clear so far which build will finally be rolled on Xperia Z1 as android 4.3 firmware, it can be any of the above stated firmware or can be the any new build which has not been detected yet.

As per our confidential source, next stop for Xperia Z1 will be android 4.3 now ( no more android 4.2.2 build will be rolled ) and is in pre-final testing version and soon all Xperia Z1 users will taste it. Excited for android, let us know…Don’t ask for ETA as there is none yet except the month December 😛

Unofficial CyanogenMod 11 KitKat 4.4 ROM for Xperia Z1 from FreeXperia Team

Xperia Z1 users are still waiting for official 4.3 update from Sony as it is officially due in December as per Sony’s statement on this, users can still get a taste of Android 4.4 KitKat (Not the Chocolate) via some unofficial sources. Yes FreeXperia Team has released an unofficial CyanogenMod 11 KitKat 4.4 Build for Xperia Z1 exclusively.

We posted a while ago about the first AOSP 4.4 “Revolution ROM” for Xperia Z1 from from XDA recognized developer “krabappel2548″, now its time for CyanogenMod 11 ROM, not official though. Many brilliant minds behind the FreeXperiaProject (FXP) team, came up with unofficial CM11 build on the XDA community for Xperia Z1.

As you must be knowing that Xperia Z1 users are facing issues when unlocking bootloader, the same goes with this one as well. It won’t be fixed until Sony comes up with a firmware update fixing this issue. For flashing, check the link below officially from FXP team.

Flashing Instructions and Downloading Package from FXP Team

The CAMERA IS NOT WORKING because bootloader issue persists. And it is a pre-requisite for flashing any CM ROMS. So keep in mind if you are to unlock your device:

Do keep a backup of the DRM keys before unlocking the bootloader.
If you flash the ROM or rather even unlock the Bootloader you might loose the loose the camera functionality.

Above mentioned ROM is still in testing, so if you are not sure to flash it, don’t do it now; wait for a stable release or an official one from CyanogenMod Team soon ( may be ). All credits to FXP team for their hardwork 🙂

Xperia Z1S rumored to be priced at 3600 Yuan i.e. 590$ – Seen Beside White and Purple Xperia Z1 Again

More and more Xperia Z1S images are allegedly leaking daily and from the same source all the time i.e. Digi-Wo, this time the same Digi-Wo user who previously leaked picture of Xperia Z1S on top of Xperia Z1 and speculated that it may not be called as Xperia Z1S has again leaked 3 set of Xperia Z1S pics two of them are along with Xperia Z1 sharing the same surrounding as it was in previously leaked pics.

In the first set of pic you can clearly see the Xperia Z1S calling app’s dialing pad interface, which is expected to run android 4.3 jelly bean as seen in previous leaked pic where model Sony D5503 ( rumored to be Xperia Z1S ) featured android 4.3 14.2.A.0.205 firmware.

In other two pics Xperia Z1S is seen with Xperia Z1 ( purple and white in color ). In one pic you can see Xperia Z1 standing beside Xperia Z1S where you can compare the size of both phones. An interesting annotation on pic reads that Xperia Z1S may be priced at 3600 Yuan which is approx. equal to 590$ and may be available in first quarter of year 2014.

In the third pic, Xperia Z1S is seen with white Xperia Z1 and annotation on pic reads that it will also feature the same Sony’s G Lens as Xperia Z1 supports.

Yesterday Sony D5503 was spotted at Indonesian Postel website, confirming the model number and its existence. A lot many rumors have piled up now over the features of Xperia Z1S from Digi-Wo tipsters where one states that Xperia Z1S may feature IPS Display and one stated that it may not be called as Xperia Z1S.

Xperia Z1S / Sony D5503 Model spotted at Indonesian Postel website

Rumors have caught more fire now, this time Sony D5503 model which is speculated as Xperia Z1S aka Xperia Z1 Mini ( international version of Xperia Z1 and sibling of Xperia Z1F ) has marked its presence on a legit Indonesian Postel website ( FCC equivalent of Indonesia ). It is well-known for outing the names of many Sony Mobile’s new models like Sony C6833 and C6802 appeared in past.

It’s not the first time we have heard of Sony D5503, it was first spotted with its camera picture sample then real pics of Sony D5503 were leaked from all angles confirming the model number and android 4.3 running as 14.2.A.0.205 firmware build.

As you can see it is latest updated on 20 November i.e. today, so it definitely proves the existence of Sony D5503 somewhat officially this time but the global model number has not been confirmed yet. As recently we spotted pic of Xperia Z1S on top of Xperia Z1 with an annotation which reads that it may not be called as Xperia Z1S. Lately on Sony Mobile global product page listing of Xperia Z1S was spotted but it was taken soon which confuses again about the branding Xperia Z1S.

Another rumor has sparked which says that Sony D5503 along with Xperia Taichi ( Tianchi ) may be launched on Nov 22 in an event in Shanghai, consider it as 100% rumor now.

T-Mobile USA Xperia Z Android 4.2.2 10.3.1.E.0.191 firmware update rolling finally

As December comes closer, release of android 4.3 update for Xperia handsets comes nearer and in the mean time T-Mobile has updated Xperia Z C6606/C6616 for the very first time to android 4.2.2 10.3.1.E.0.191 firmware from android 4.1.2 10.1.1.B.0.166 firmware update. It was certified by PTCRB back in early November Well it is quite late for the T-Mobile to update Xperia Z on android 4.2.2 when the world is talking about android 4.3 and android 4.4 while android 4.2.2 was rolled on global version of Xperia Z back in June.

Carrier based Xperia Z1 14.1.G.2.259 firmware update rolling out

At present Xperia Z1 suffering from many firmware glitches, though 14.1.G.2.257 firmware update sorted out many as per Sony but users are still facing those issues some of the main are display calibration issues ( yellow hue issues ), noisy pics from camera app etc.

At the same time 14.1.G.2.259 firmware was certified on PTCRB for Xperia Z1 C6903 on October 23 almost a month ago which was as per our sources meant for only carrier based devices and here it comes.

14.1.G.2.259 firmware update has been released now for Xperia Z1 in Australia on “Telstra Australia” carrier dated 14/11/13. It is expected to be bring some minor changes only.

Xperia Z1 14.1.G.2.259 firmware seen as OTA update sized 95.2 MB on a user’s handset, do check it may also be available via PC Companion or SUS. Look for a notification as shown below. Users who have got this update are saying it brought better battery life with it now.

It still keeps Xperia Z1 on android 4.2.2 jelly bean, hoped as last android 4.2.2 update on Xperia Z1 before we see android 4.3 officially rolling in December as Sony said.

Xperia Amami / Sony D5503 to be called as Xperia Z1S, doubt prevails ?

Just after a day when we saw Xperia Z1S photo snapped beside with Xperia Z1 from a Digi-Wo user, a new speculation has come up whether Sony D5503 will be called as Xperia Z1S or not. The moment when Xperia Z1F saw it’s release in Japan, rumors started about the existence of Xperia Z1S, international version of Xperia Z1F.

A new user on Digi-Wo has posted a fresh pic of Xperia Z1S snapped on top of Xperia Z1, comparing their size but the annotations reads “It is called Xperia Amami right, DoCoMo version Xperia Z1F as SO-02F right, but not Z1S for now“.

Rumor says Chinese version of Xperia Z1S will come as Sony M55H. Check the pic below yourself of Xperia Z1S on top of Xperia Z1. How we can say the below handset is not Xperia Z1F, well look at this another pic of Xperia Z1S with Xperia Z1, it shares some surroundings of spoon, fork and table cloth as it is.

If it is considered to be true that Sony D5503 is not named as Xperia Z1S then what it is ? What about the recent spotting of Xperia Z1S being listed on Sony Mobile official website for a moment…

Are all these a user’s speculation ? A lot ago we saw EvLeaks leaking a pic of Xperia Z1 mini version, naming it as Xperia Z1S. Well nothing more than that has come up for the existence of Xperia Z1S yet.

Good news for Xperia L, E, TX, J, SP, Miro, Tipo, UL users is that CM ROM may be coming soon from CyanongenMod Devs as just spotted said Xperia devices on CyanogenMod official website under CyanogenMod download page. At present no build is available for above mentioned Xperia handsets.

[ UPDATE ] – “uberlaggydarwin” XDA member says that none of Sony developers inside CM owns Xperia L handset, they don’t announce anything for their devices until they are making it, as all above devices mentioned in TITLE of post are seen on CM website, so it doesn’t mean that a ROM is cooking up or not.

Xperia Z1 Screen and Body bent appears – User’s fault or Hardware issue ?

Some users are raising concerns about the how well Xperia Z1 is build, we have come across some pictures of Xperia Z1 on Sony Mobile forum where users are complaining that their Xperia Z1’s screen and body has bent from its regular position and is lifted up, well at this stage it is hard to tell that is it hardware fault or user’s fault. Well let’s have a deep look into the matter what happened.

Xperia SP Frame Bent Issue appeared like Xperia Z1 – Poor Build Quality or User’s Fault ?

This is what we found “a user says that his one month old Xperia Z1 is bent itself, he didn’t sit on it”…Check the pic below where bottom end of Xperia Z1 has bent.

In a first look, it seems user has sat over Xperia Z1 while it was in back pocket may be, but the concerned owner denies this fact…only God knows the fact.

Another user has also posted the pic of his Xperia Z1 which is bent from front side. This user claims that he has rectified the bent by pressing it, and now 99% it is horizontal ( pic not attached ).

It’s quite obvious phone doesn’t come like that, user must have done something to it, may be sat on it or pressurized it.

An XDA user dante2086 posted some pics of his bent Xperia Z1, it looks awful terrible, he mentioned that his phone got some serious heat exposure lately so has heat done it for him ? User claims he never put it in back pocket or sat on it.!

Another user “Mart Harwood” sent us his picture of bent Xperia Z1, according to him it suddenly appeared, he didn’t do anything, as per him it may be the heat which is causing this type of distortion in the Xperia Z1 body.

Well we don’t think it is a hardware fault as it is hard to believe that it happened itself, but this is the case as per the users who are complaining about this issue, Is it an issue, is it right to call it an issue…Is heat causing this issue as no normal usage phone reaches 40 degree very easily and while gaming it reaches upto 45-46 degree.

Another Xperia Z1 user “V8Matt” has got in touch with us, and his Xperia Z1 also suffers from unconditional bends, that’s pathetic.

It seems the frame bent issue on Xperia Z1 is getting worse, another user “Thomas Uldahl” reached us with the below image.

Xperia Z1S Amami display compared to Xperia Z1’s – To use IPS Display ?

The latest rumored sensation from Sony Mobile, Xperia Z1S aka Xperia Amami or Sony D5503 is seen again, this time along with elder sibling Xperia Z1. Xperia Z1S Amami photographed besides Xperia Z1 showing the display comparison of both phones. With a first look you can say that display on Xperia Z1S looks a little less bright than Xperia Z1 but what if the brightness level is low on Xperia Z1S than Xperia Z1, we don’t know that yet.

User at Digi-Wo who posted this pic says that Xperia Z1S may use IPS Display ? What Sony using IPS display for their next flagship device and ditching TFT panels, that’s kind of Wow..!!! Well it certainly is a rumor or you can say the concerned tipster’s speculation regarding IPS display don’t take it seriously for now. As Xperia Z1F uses same display as Xperia Z1’s so IPS is least expected so far on Xperia Z1S also.

A day ago we saw Xperia Z1S real images leaked running Android 4.3 14.2.A.0.205 firmware, confirming Sony D5503 Model Number and on old UI just like android 4.2.2 in Xperia Z1. This new leak has created more sensation this time regarding display screen build.

Would you like Sony to use IPS display this time as they been using TFT panels from a long time, many Xperia Z1 users are complaining about poor display calibration on it as Yellow hue issue, so it would be better if Sony comes out this time with a great display screen.

Xperia Tablet S Android 4.1.1 release3 firmware update – More Accurate Clock Timings Now

Sony has roll out a firmware update for Xperia Tablet S and it seems Sony has not forgotten it yet. Android 4.1.1 release3 firmware update has been rolled on Xeria Tablet S global version along with Xperia Tablet S Wi-Fi version models SGPT121JP / S, SGPT122JP / S, SGPT123JP / S from the android 4.1.1 release2 firmware.

Xperia Tablet S Android 4.1.1 release3 firmware update has been confirmed in Japan, Australia, US and Europe so far, so if you have got the notification for update, get it done. To install this Android 4.1.1 release3 firmware on your Xperia Tablet S, you need atleast 300 MB of free space on internal storage.

Above mentioned is the only official changelog presented by Sony yet.

[ REVIEW ] Sony Xperia Z1 Side Flip Case from RockPhone CN

Xperia Z1, the best of Sony for the best of you and to protect it you need a good premium case, the one which covers it at most delicate locations and opens up space at appropriate locations. The hunt for best Sony L39h / Xperia Z1 case in on and now we will be publishing a series of reviews for various types of Xperia Z1 cases present in the market. The first case we feature today is from RockPhone CN, it’s a side flip case ( or you can say a book flip case ).

RockPhone CN sent us this Xperia Z1 side flip case as a review sample unit. It costs almost 20$ or Rs 1099 is purchased from India, ships worldwide, normally from Hong Kong but have various distributors across many countries so they get it for you. We got it delivered by GoLifeStyleRetail in India.

It fits perfectly in Xperia Z1 C6902/3/6 and Xperia Z1 L39h, available in 4 colors viz. Blue, Yellow, Orange and Black though White and Purple are missing from the list, we wonder why so.!

Xperia Z1 side flip case from RockPhone comes in a cream-white plastic-glass case, covering looks good. At the top right corner it is written “for Sony Xperia Z1 / L39h”.

Back of cover lists some of the specifications in Chinese and the distributors details.

On the front side of case, “RockPhone” logo is embossed in metal casing, read as “Unique Designed by ROCK”. Front black side has a texture similar to wooden and back with a tough hard translucent plastic.

Inner side of flap which comes over the display screen has soft lining on surface, which has got dirty after usage of month by us, you can check below the pic.

Check the Xperia Z1 Side Flip Case from RockPhone’s view from all sides. 3.5 mm headphone jack, all buttons like power button, volume rocker button and dedicated camera button are well accessible.

SIM card slot area is not accessible as it has a plastic case covering on it which is also present on all 4 corners of phone protecting like a bumper case also. Though USB Port slot and MicroSD card slot with magnetic charging area is clearly accessible and is not covered with any plastic covering.

Well it is one of the cases we have seen which is a flip case also and magnetic charging port is not covered and is accessible which is a plus point in rating this case. You can use EC21 magnetic charging cable to charge your Xperia Z1 while case in on, We haven’t tried it putting on Dock DK31 while case in on.

As many people reports that many flip case’s camera opening is coming between the sensor and sometimes obstructs the flash LED, well have a look at the camera opening area of this case.

Xperia M 15.1.C.2.8 firmware update – Camera Improved

Sony has given the taste of firmware updates to two Xperia handsets today, earlier in the morning we saw Xperia M Dual being updated to android 4.2.2 15.2.A.2.5 firmware and just now another update has hit Xperia M. Android 4.1.2 15.1.C.2.8 firmware ( moving from previous 15.1.C.1.17 firmware ) update has just hit Xperia M sadly keeping it still on android 4.1.2 as android 4.2.2 was expected seeing it already running on Xperia M Dual versions.

15.1.C.2.8 firmware update confirmed on both C1904/C1905 in Vietnam so far. 15.1.C.2.8 firmware update available as usual via PC Companion and SUS and on Bridge for Mac users.

Connect your Xperia M to PC Companion and look for a notification just like shown below for 15.1.C.2.8 firmware update and proceed as per on screen instructions.

Though Sony still has not updated the new 15.1.C.2.8 firmware on their website but the users who have already got it are saying that it improved “camera” ( atleast better than previous version ).

Xperia Z1S real images leaked running Android 4.3 14.2.A.0.205 firmware – Sony D5503 Model Number Confirmed

A few days ago a pic was snapped stating that Sony Mobile is taking strict measure to stop the leaks of it’s flagship devices before their official launch as it happened with the Xperia Z1, whose whole specifications, pictures and official press document was leaked a few hours before it’s official launch. It has happened again, this time Xperia Z1S real images leaked running android 4.3 14.2.A.0.205 firmware, yesterday we posted an update that firmware 14.2.A.0.25 runs android 4.3 and here it comes. Recently we spotted Sony by mistake putting Xperia Z1S listing on Sony Mobile Global products page which also sparked the rumors of its existence.

Model number Sony D5503 has ben confirmed with this leak. Xperia Z1S is the international release of it’s sibling Xperia Z1F ( aka Xperia Z1 Mini ) which was recently released in Japan on NTT DoCoMo carrier, the then users wanted to come it as a global version also and here it comes now to rock.

Xperia Z1S leaked images confirmed the 720p HD 4.3″ screen running android 4.3 14.2.A.0.205 firmware, 16 GB internal storage and 2 GB RAM. Unfortunately same old UI as of android 4.2.2 on Xperia Z1 is spotted also on Xperia Z1S. Chinese version of Xperia Z1S will come as Sony M55H.

You can see the front cam is located at extreme right corner and notification light at top, huge bezels at bottom just like Xperia Z1.

Xperia Z1S dimensions seems similar to Xperia Z1F as 127mm x 64.9mm x 9.4mm.

Android 4.3 14.2.A.0.205 firmware spotted on Xperia Z1S has no major changes as per UI is concerned which can be seen from below images of the interface.

Home launcher on Xperia Z1S seems very much similar to Xperia Home version 6.1.A.0.5 which was recently posted by us for Xperia Z1, Z Ultra users.

Above Xperia Z1S images clearly shows that now Xperia Z1S is not a rumor, the existence of Sony Xperia Z1S D5503 is proved 🙂 Well next big thing to keep an eye on is the price of Xperia Z1S, well as it packs super high specs of Xperia Z1, it won’t be cheap. It is rumored to be launched next year only during CES 2014 may be.

Xperia SP unofficial Android 4.4 KitKat CyanogenMod 11 Port available

Sony recently announced their roadmap of upgrading their Xperia smartphones to the android version 4.3 Jelly Bean and android 4.4 KitKat , Xperia SP will get the official android 4.3 Jelly Bean next month. But Sony didn’t mention the android4.4 KitKat for the Xperia SP in the first batch of devices getting it ,probably it will get it after the first raft of Xperia smartphones get the update.

Xperia Z1S Expected to come as Sony D5503 as HQ Image Sample Leaks

Today some rumors have been put aside for Xperia Z1S, that it was expected to be launched in some Shanghai Press Event of Sony, November 12 but nothing happened, a fake rumor has been put aside again. Don’t loose hope on Xperia Z1S as a new rumor has come up now. It is rumored that Xperia Z1S expected to come as Sony D5503 next year.

Yes you saw right, Sony D5503, it seems Sony has shifted to a new series now for the flagship devices launching in year 2014. It is rumored that D5xxx will be used for mid range devices and D6xxx for high end devices next year and Sony may follow the scheming as “C” for year 2013, “D” for year 2014 and “E” for 2015, afterall it is just a speculation till now, no official word on it so far. As per sources, Sony D5503 can be the international version of Xperia Z1F which was recently launched in Japan under NTT DoCoMo. Yesterday we saw Sony Mobile unintentionally putting up the listing of Xperia Z1S on their global products page and then later on removing it in an hour.

Let’s what we have for you now as far as mysterious device Sony D5503 is concerned. A high quality images sample has been leaked which is allegedly taken by Sony D5503 ( expected to be Xperia Z1S ).

Bootloader Unlocking not Allowed in Xperia C – MediaTek SoC Chip Not Supported Yet

The Xperia C is a mid-range smartphone from Sony. It was the first Sony smartphone that was powered by MediaTek chipset. The Xperia C packs a Quad-Core 1.2 GHz processor with MTK6589 chipset and runs Android version 4.2.2 Jelly Bean out of the box. So if you would like to develop some custom ROMS or kernel for the Xperia C,unfortunately you can’t; want to know why. Check below the reason.

Just noticed after Xperia Blog reported that Xperia C has a locked bootloader and it can’t be unlocked and there’s no way to unlock it till now. Probably the MediaTek chipset has a different loader and the unlock architecture isn’t supported yet by Sony bootloader unlocking service.

So if you are looking an answer to the question, how to unlock bootloader on Xperia C, then it can’t be unlocked simply 🙁

Check the below pic of service info configuration which clearly says Bootloader Unlocked Allowed : NO.

If you want to check it yourself then dial *#*#7378423#*#* > Service Settings > Configuration > now see what is written under “Rooting Status Option” – Bootloader unlocked allowed: NO.

Xperia C is not even mentioned in the list of supported phones on Sony Bootloader Unlock website. ( Xperia Z1 also not mentioned but it can be unlocked ).

It’s certainly sad that Xperia C bootloader can’t be unlocked. As when in future if Sony released more MediaTek SoC chipset based phones then we can only expect Sony supporting the MediaTek SoC chipset architecture in unlocking bootloaders.

Android 4.4 KitKat AOSP RevolutionROM for Xperia Z1 Released – Install it

Officially android 4.4 KitKat is announced for Sony Xperia Z1 but when no ones knows as so far only Android 4.3 is on line of Xperia Z1 due in December ( though no exact ETA is given yet ). A few days ago, we posted that Android 4.4 KitKat AOSP ROM Coming soon for Sony Xperia Z1 from XDA recognized developer “krabappel2548” and today something revolutionary has came up from same dev.

As its very clear from the title that Xperia Z1 users now can have android 4.4 KitKat love on their phone, yes krabappel2548 has released the first pure Android 4.4 KitKat AOSP based ROM for our beloved Xperia Z1.

Android 4.4 KitKat AOSP based ROM for Xperia Z1 is named as “RevolutionROM” and is now available for installing on Xperia Z1 but before you install, let us tell you what is working and what not.

It is by no means a daily driver yet, but progress is super fast and we could expect a very stable build as soon as SONY fixes the Bootloader Unlock Issue. For those who don’t know about the issue, unlocking bootloader breaks the camera at the moment.

White Frame Parts of an Unknown Xperia Phone Leaked – Similar Metal Frame Like Xperia Z1

As year is about to end and we are waitign for new Xperia devices to come up, we have been hearing rumors about Xperia Z1S ( aka mini version of Xperia Z1 launching globally). At the same time frame parts of an unknown Xperia phone have been surfaced on C-Tech, China website which shows the device follows the similar metal frame as like Xperia Z1 fits in.

Images have been leaked showing frame parts from all sides. On closely inspecting them, one can find that it is very similar to Xperia Z1 metal frame with same thickness almost. In Xperia Z1 there is an hole at the center of speaker grill while looking at the frame parts of this unknown Xperia phone, there are 3 holes in the bottom side.

Sony D6503 Live Photos Leaked – Very Similar to Xperia Z1 in Design

Let’s have a look at the frame parts now. It seems it has similar thickness from sides just like Xperia Z1 has. Nothing can be written about the camera hole of the frame, is it bigger or of the same size.

Now look at the frame parts from front side.

3.5 mm headphone jack position is at the same location where Xperia Z1 has.

In below frame you can see the micro-SD card slot, USB port and the magnetic charging slot with a strap hole whose location is opposite to where Xperia Z1 has.

SIM card slot, volume rocker buttons and camera button is at the same position just like Xperia Z1.

3 holes at the bottom side of phone for microphone but where is speaker grill here ? It seems missing…But what if out of 3 holes, 2 are meant as external speaker then sound is gonna low again similar to Xperia Z1.

At this point nothing can be said regarding which mystery phone it is, a new flagship device or somewhat else. Well we have to wait for now to see what Sony has for us in CES 2014.

Xperia Z1S spotted on Sony Mobile Global Site and Taken Down by Sony Soon

Since Xperia Z1 launched officially and Xperia Z1F ( aka mini version of Xperia Z1 in Japan ), there has been rumors buzzing about launch of global version of Xperia Z1 Mini as Xperia Z1S. But till now we saw only rumors. Even recently an alleged image of Xperia Z1S surfaced from the Evleaks firing the rumors again. This time something official has been put on the existence of Xperia Z1S from Sony Mobile.

Xperia Z1S spotted on Sony Mobile Global Site, a moment ago and hyperlinked to Xperia Z1 page but the weird thing is that Sony Mobile took down the listing of Xperia Z1S within an hour of putting it live.
