LG G3 D855 has been hit with its first OTA update after the launch globally. LG G3 users in Asia (like in Philippines), UK, Europe are getting the V10e update as OTA in two variants of 43.74 MB which brings power optimizations enhancement and 175.92 MB OTA update which brings enhancement in apps depending upon their location.

V10e update is still in seeding stage. Go to settings >About phone > system update to check for the latest update notification. V10e seems to more smooth than previous build as reported.

OnePlus One is without a doubt the most anticipated smartphone of 2014. The device comes with mouth-watering specs and features the newest quad-core Snapdragon 801 CPU clocked at 2.5 GHz, Adreno 330 GPU, 3GB of RAM, 5.5 inch 1080p FullHD display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

If that wasn’t enough the phone has a 5 MP front facing camera and a 13 MP Sony Exmor IMX214 module with 6 lenses and dual LED flash on the back. OnePlus One runs on a custom build CyanogenMod 11S software based on Android 4.4.2 Kitkat and it comes with 2 year developer support from the Cyanogen Team.

Ok, so what’s the big deal? There are other smartphones out there with similar specification. That’s correct but we bet you neither of them cost 349$ brand new from the manufacturer for a 64GB version!!! This is something that the mobile industry has never seen before and that’s why the phone is dubbed the “Flagship Killer“.

Unfortunately getting one is not as easy as just walking into a shop. There is an invite system to purchase the device and there are thousands of people around the world desperately waiting for their chance to purchase OnePlus One. We have been one of the early supporters on OnePlus One forum and after three months of patient waiting and taking part in multiple contests we finally managed to get our hands on the device.

OnePlus One comes in very impressive packaging that makes a good first impression. Along with the phone we get a wall charger and there is a SIM ejector tool and a non-coiling USB charging cable included in the package.
There are a few mistakes in the video that will be corrected in the full review:

Front facing camera is 5 MP and records in 720p (not 5.5 and full HD)
The rim around the screen is not metal but painted plastic
Speakers are Mono not Stereo

How to Root Xperia Z2 17.1.2.A.0.314 firmware ?

Sony recently updated Xperia Z2 on 17.1.2.A.0.314 firmware unexpectedly which brought changes like improved call voice quality, faster battery charging. Earlier root method was not available for 17.1.2.A.0.314 firmware but now you can root your Xperia Z2 on 17.1.2.A.0.314 firmware via rootkitXperia developed by @cubeundcube.

XDA user RyokoN mentions that above mentioned root tool kit uses two exploits i.e. ‘master key exploit‘ (bug 9950697) and CVE-2013-6282 on an older version but now it uses CVE-2014-3153 (towelroot exploit).

Confirmed devices working on this kit are Xperia Z2 17.1.2.A.0.314 firmware, Xperia Z1 14.3.B.0.288, Xperia SP 12.1.A.1.205 etc.

Sony is planning to launch some new low end handsets at IFA Berlin 2014 event, it seems. Two new handsets Sony D2202 and Sony D2212 models are spotted at Indonesian Postel which has leaked so many Sony Xperia models in past before the official launch. By looking at the model number both devices seem to be low end handsets.

Sony D2202 and Sony D2212 model can be the same model of one device. If you look at model configuration they lie in between Xperia E1 and Xperia M2. Seeing Sony’s trend of following numbers in smartphone naming, we may see Xperia L or Xperia J successor in near future.

Sony is rolling a minor update in form of 17.1.2.A.0.314 firmware on Xperia Z2 D6503 LTE. 17.1.2.A.0.314 firmware keeps Xperia Z2 on Android 4.4.2 only ( Android 4.4.4 update is still missing ), confirmed rolling via PC Companion in regions like Russia, Iran, Korea.

No major changes spotted in this 17.1.2.A.0.314 firmware update, it seems a security patch fixing update as Towel Root exploit fails to root this firmware for the time being. Connect your device to PC Companion and look for an update notification to update.

Install Xperia Theme Upsky, Xperia Colormix Theme

Today we are sharing Xperia Theme Upsky and Xperia Colormix Theme for android 4.3 and android 4.4 Xperia users which we just found on Play store. You need rooted Xperia handset with SuperUser Mod installed to get full customization effects as shown in the screenshots. Without SuperUser Mod you may get only customized ascent colors and lockscreen, homescreen wallpapers.

Xperia Theme Upsky and Xperia Colormix Theme gives you colored soft navigation keys with the colored status bar. You get transparent background in quick settings option with ascent color. Xperia Theme Upsky is a free theme whereas Xperia Colormix Theme is a paid theme.

14.4.A.0.118 firmware certified for Xperia Z1 Compact, Z Ultra

A new 14.4.A.0.118 firmware has been certified for Xperia Z1 Compact and Xperia Z Ultra on PTCRB following the previous released build 14.4.A.0.108 firmware android 4.4.4 update. 14.4.A.0.118 firmware not certified for Xperia Z1 yet though some Xperia Z1 users on Vodafone Spain, DE claims that they have already got it.

14.4.A.0.118 firmware seems a minor bug fixing update only and certified for some variants of devices only. It seems a carrier release update only. Below you can see 14.4.A.0.118 firmware certification details.

Sony Xperia Z3 D6603 which has been seen in number leaks so far has been spotted at FCC now. Xperia Z3 D6603 passed through FCC with ID : PY7PM-0800. Except a few things like device model number and running firmware i.e. 23.0.D.0.100 and 23.0.A.0.204 nothing much is seen in FCC documents.

It seems very sure now that Sony Xperia Z3 series will be D66xx model which may be revealed at IFA 2014 Berlin event. On FCC we can see rear view of FCC ID terminal but in blurred pic.

Under the tested equipments Sony Magnetic Charging Dock DK43 is also spotted along with USB cable EC803, MHL Adapter IM750, AC charger EP880.
