New Xperia Z2 Phone and Phonebook app has ICE feature where you can add your personal details to be accessed in case of emergency from lockscreen, even if the phone is locked.

You need a rooted Xperia handset, running android 4.3, Deodexed ROM and install SuperUser Mod if you can ( Xperia Z1 users see here ). It is confirmed working on Xperia Z1.

Xperia TX LT29i 9.2.A.1.199 firmware update rolling

Xperia T and Xperia V saw 9.2.A.1.199 firmware getting certified for them at end of Feb while nothing was certified for Xperia TX but something surprising came today, a user got 9.2.A.1.199 firmware update notification on his Xperia TX LT29i. We checked via update checker app and found now new update being rolled for his phone customization, it seems Sony has either rolled it for some particular regions or it is still seeding as 9.2.A.1.199 firmware was certified for Xperia T and Xperia V so it may end up rolling later on.

9.2.A.1.199 firmware keeps on Xperia TX on android 4.2.2, seems a minor bug fixing update only. 9.2.A.1.199 firmware update came as OTA notification of 8.3 MB. So try it on your Xperia TX you may also have got the 9.2.A.1.199 firmware update notification or will get it later, keep checking it.

Sony launched Xperia E1 and Xperia E1 Dual back in mid January 2014 after CES event. Xperia E1 and Xperia E1 Dual is low end Xperia smartphones tagged as Walkman phone by Sony. It’s now official that Sony Xperia E1 Dual is heading towards India. Sony has listed the Xperia E1 Dual on Sony India site under coming soon tag for the time being.

As seen from Sony India’s press release of the product, Xperia E1 Dual release date will be 10 March 2014 in India at a base price of Rs 10490 i.e $172 and will be available in white, black and purple color variants. Xperia E1 will also be coming to India at base price of Rs 9490 i.e. $155 and Xperia E1 release date will be 25 March 2014.

All Xperia Z family users are now waiting for the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update to be rolled officially by Sony, in the mean time we posted some days back that 14.3.A.x.xxx Android 4.4.2 KitKat firmware will hit Xperia Z1, Z Ultra and Z1 Compact soon and it seems it will come very soon now. A user has got 14.3.A.0.681 firmware update notification on his Xperia Z Ultra C6833 which is android 4.4.2 KitKat update.

Xperia Z2 Tablet hands on photos and preliminary KitKat UI review

Sony launched the new flagship Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablet at MWC 2014 which took over the legacy of Xperia Z1 and Xperia Tablet Z. Xperia Z2 Tablet is such a huge improvement over its predecessor in terms of design, specifications and performance. Sony has already listed Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablet for pre-order in Europe and it is soon expected to hit other regions of world.

Xperia Z2 Tablet features 10.1″ FHD Triluminos display with live color LED, Snapdragon 801 SoC MSM8974AB 2.3 GHz quad core processor, 3 GB RAM, Adreno 330 GPU, 6.4mm thick, weighs around 426g for Wi-Fi/439g for LTE model which Sony has tagged as ‘world’s slimmest and lightest waterproof tablet’ so far. Sony recently certified 15.4.A.0.21 firmware for Xperia M which is speculated as Android 4.3 update but the chances of getting official Sony Android 4.4.2 KitKat update on Xperia M is very less and in the meantime FreeXperia Team has decided to support Xperia M CyanogenMod 11 Android 4.4.2 development and first FXP309 build has come up now.

Xperia M CyanogenMod 11 Android 4.4.2 FXP309 build is now available for download and Xperia M users can test it if they want to taste the android 4.4.2 KitKat flavor on their device. You need to unlock the bootloader to install CyanogenMod 11 Android 4.4.2 FXP309 build on Xperia M. Unlocking bootloader voids the warranty.

XDA dev Levered has made this Xperia Z2 Phone Answering Machine port and it is working fine on Xperia SP, though will work on other rooted Xperia Smartphones also. Let’s see how you can install this port. It works only for devices featuring android 4.3 or above.

To install Xperia Z2 Phone Answering Machine port, your device must be rooted. Download the below mentioned file.

Process of porting apps from Xperia Z2 has already begun and it started with Xperia Z2 Smart call handling feature getting ported for Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z1 Compact. A moment ago we saw Xperia Z2 Camera apps Addons port – Creative Effects, AR Effect 2.0.4 , Background Defocus 1.1.7 on various rooted Xperia smartphones. TimeShift Video and 4K Camera app port is not yet available for the time being.

We shared a lot before Xperia Z2 Movies 6.1.A.0.4 and Walkman 8.1.A.0.4 app but it didn’t work on any devices and now XDA dev niaboc79 has made possible installation of Xperia Z2 Movies 6.1.A.0.4 and Walkman 8.1.A.0.4 app on any rooted Xperia Smartphone.

You need android 4.3 jelly bean to install them. It may work on lower version but not tested yet and may have an issue with resolution. It should worked perfect on Xperia Z1, Z, ZL, ZR, Z Ultra, SP, L, M, C.

Download below mentioned zip file, it has old Album version also; no need to install it. Either flash the whole zip in recovery of extract it and push each apk manually in System/App, set permissions rw-r-r and reboot.

Xperia Z2 has been announced officially and just a few days after its launch we saw Xperia Z2 System Dump from 17.1.A.0.289 firmware Android 4.4.2 KitKat getting leaked and at the very same moment developers started porting apps from Xperia Z2 System Dump to other Xperia smartphones. We have already seen Xperia Z2 Smart call handling feature getting ported on Xperia Z1, Z1 Compact and for some users it worked on other handsets like Xperia SP and Xperia Z also.

Just now XDA dev xperiaz2 has made Xperia Z2 Social Camera apps Addons port for many Xperia smartphones. It includes apps viz. Creative Effects, AR Effect 2.0.4 , Background Defocus 1.1.7. Some works on rooted handsets and some work on non rooted handsets so you need to have CWM to install below port. If ROM is deodexed it would be great.

To install given below mentioned apps, you must have Xperia Social Camera app on your device. It can be installed on devices like Xperia Z, Z1, Z Ultra,V,TX, SP, M, L, ZR etc.

XDA Dev RyokoN has ported Xperia Z2 Smart call handling feature on Xperia Z1 and it works fine. Your Xperia Z1 needs to have root in order to install this port.
