Sony also rolled today Movie Creator 2.1.A.0.4 app, Walkman 8.4.A.4.4 app and Album 6.3.A.0.12 app update.

Sony has updated its media Walkman app to newer version 8.4.A.4.4 from older 8.4.A.3.1 version. Walkman 8.4.A.4.4 update now lets users see which music is currently playing from Walkman home section itself. Sony also updated its three other media apps as follow Album 6.3.A.0.12 app, Movie Creator 2.1.A.0.4 app and Movies 7.3.A.0.2 app.

Walkman 8.4.A.4.4 update size is 11.8 MB and brings other as usual big fixes and performance enhancement. It is confirmed on Android 4.2+ running Xperia devices.

Sony Album 6.3.A.0.12 app update rolling

Sony has updated its Album app to newer version 6.3.A.0.12 which fixes the major issue of screen flickering caused by recently rolled Album 6.3.A.0.10 app update. Sony has also rolled three more updates to its other media apps in form of Movie Creator 2.1.A.0.4 app, Movies 7.3.A.0.2 app and Walkman 8.4.A.4.4 app update.

Sony Album 6.3.A.0.12 update brings almost the same changelog as version 6.3.A.0.10 from which the main feature is option of “hide pictures” from main and top grid area available now.

Sony SmartBand SWR10 1.5.0.488 firmware update rolling

Sony SmartBand SWR10 has been updated to newer 1.5.0.488 firmware from older 1.4.0.392. After 1.5.0.488 firmware update you will not able to see SmartBand connected icon in the status bar though the notification will be present if you pull down the notification bar. This feature has got some serious negative comments from users on Play Store.

1.5.0.488 firmware also brings an option to change themes on non Sony Xperia devices, alarm repeat bug fixed for some particular time zones along with usual bug fixes and performance enhancement.

The newest flagship from LG comes with a powerful 13MP sensor equipped with laser autofocus and dual LED flash. The camera performed astonishingly well in good lightening conditions but at night its performance was very poor. Check out some of our samples below.

Final Words

Even though LG G3 has some of the most impressive technical specification on the market in daily use it performs significantly worse than other flagships. Battery life is one of the worst if not the worst among flagships and lags are noticeable throughout the interface. It does however come with a ton of interesting software solutions and its design is difficult not to like. Even though the display is massive at 5.5″ the phone itself is almost the same size as 5″ flagships from other manufacturers. Huge pixel density is most likely the cause of all the major problems with the device and it just shows how marketing ruined a potentially great smartphone.

Sony has launched a new app at Play Store named Sony Party Share app, version 01.00.00 comes with a tag line “turn your device into a jukebox”, allowing you to broadcast your photos with real-time photo streaming. You can share your music playlist or upload photos in real-time with your connected buddies without being connected to internet actually.

Download the Sony Party Share app from Play Store. Install it > Tap on “Host a Party” allowing you to share your photos and music playlist with maximum 10 people ( Host a Party option is only exclusive for Xperia users ). You can either join a party by NFC or tap on the concerned party you want to join by going to main screen of app.

All users who are sharing pics and playlists between them must have Sony Party Share app installed.

Xperia Z3 India launch on 19 September – LTE version coming

Sony launched Xperia E3 and Xperia E3 Dual in India today for Rs 11990 / $197 and Rs 12990 / $214 respectively and next week flagship Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact is coming to India precisely on 19 September when the unveiling will be done in New Delhi and from 20 September it will be put on sale.

Exact pricing details of Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact are unknown for the time being but Xperia Z3 is believed to be priced above Rs 42000 – Rs 43000 range and there will be around Rs 5000 price difference between Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact.

Sony’s introduced new PS4 Remote Play feature in Xperia Z3 which allows you to use your Xperia device as a second display screen for PlayStation 4 ( connectivity via Wi-Fi ). It seems after the launch of Xperia Z3 we may not see this feature on other Xperia devices for a long time but no need to wait now, Xperia Z3 PS4 Remote Play has been ported on Android 4.0+ Xperia devices.

Sony has updated its Album app to newer version 6.3.A.0.10 which we recently spotted in Xperia Z3. Sony Album 6.3.A.0.10 update  brings much awaited option “hide pictures from the grid and top area” and “select all pictures option” added. NTT DoCoMo Xperia Z Android 4.4 10.5.B.0.410 firmware update rolling

Sony recently rolled android 4.4.4 firmware update on Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR, Tablet Z and now android 4.4 KitKat update has also been confirmed on NTT DoCoMo Xperia Z SO2-02E variant in form of 10.5.B.0.410 firmware. Android 4.4 update over NTT DoCoMo Xperia Z is available as an OTA update, size 584.8 MB.

Android 4.4 10.5.B.0.410 firmware update brings updated Sony Walkman application, lock screen, status bar UI. “sp mode email” is replaced by “docomo mail”. Updating over to newer KitKat version then you can’t roll back to previous version.

Sony has updated the small apps framework on Xperia Z3 with some new small apps versions. Sony Small apps can be used anytime and anywhere on screen. You can use more than one small app at a time and simultaneously can see the main screen also.

To install new Xperia Z3 smalls apps, you need rooted Xperia handset with custom recovery installed and will only work on android 4.4 deodexed KitKat ROM. It may or not work properly on Android 4.2 or 4.3 running devices.

From a long time there was no word from Sony on the Android 4.2.2+ upgrade for Xperia C and Android 4.3+ upgrade for Xperia SP well now Sony has officially confirmed that both Xperia C and Xperia SP will no longer be updated anymore, they have reached their EoL ( end-of-life term ) of android updates.

Sony last updated Xperia SP to android 4.3 as when Xperia V and T was also given update but Sony Xperia SP Software update page says “Latest & Final Version, Android 4.3 Jelly Bean“. Xperia SP was launched with Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean in 2013 which is undoubtedly the best 720p HD display mid range Xperia handset of 2013.

Sony launched its first MediaTek SoC phone in form of Xperia C in 2013 with android 4.2 out of the box and unfortunately now it will remain only on Android 4.2 only with only 3 minor updates till now since launch. Xperia C Software update page now reads as “Latest & Final Version, Android 4.2 Jelly Bean”.

We were really expecting from Sony atleast updating Xperia SP on Android 4.4 KitKat as when we have seen Xperia E1 getting a better treatment from Sony in terms of update. Xperia M saw Android 4.3 update while Xperia C was not updated further.

Xperia Z3 System UI brings new animations, new flash light quick settings option, drag and drop to edit quick settings option. New set of quick settings bar is added at the bottom of window pane.

Xperia ZR, Tablet Z Android 4.4.4 10.5.1.A.0.283 firmware KitKat update rolling

Earlier today Sony updated that Android 4.4.4 is now rolling for Xperia Z, ZL, ZR and Tablet Z and now users around the world now are reporting the update getting on their device. Meanwhile Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablet users are still waiting for the update to hit their device.

10.5.1.A.0.283 firmware update is confirmed rolling on Xperia ZR and Xperia Tablet Z now in many regions like UK, France, Germany, Taiwan, Malaysia, available over the PC Companion only.

Sony has updated the official changelog of 10.5.1.A.0.283 firmware on their website as:

Xperia Z, ZL Android 4.4.4 10.5.1.A.0.283 firmware KitKat update rolling

Android 4.4.4 KitKat is now officially rolling on Xperia Z and Xperia ZL as mentioned by Sony today on Twitter. Sony first rolled Android 4.4.4 update on Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z Ultra and now the older Xperia “Z” series handsets Xperia Z, ZL, ZR and Tablet Z have joined the list. Amazingly Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablet have not been updated on Android 4.4.4 yet.
