A very good news for all Sony Xperia fans, Sony Mobile has just now confirmed that Android 4.4.2 KitKat roll out has started for Xperia Z1, Xperia Z Ultra and Xperia Z1 Compact. No exact build number is included in the post but we expect either 14.3.A.0.681 or 14.3.A.0.747 firmware to come on Xperia Z1, Z1 Compact and Z Ultra handsets as KitKat firmware.
Sony has also mentioned that they will be rolling android 4.4.2 KitKat for Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia Tablet Z and Xperia ZR in mid Q2 2014 and Xperia T2 Ultra / Dual, Xperia E1 and Xperia M2 will also be upgraded to android 4.4.2 KitKat but no specific date for rollout mentioned yet.

- New Sony Media apps including Walkman, Album, Movies.
- Sony’s native stock apps updated like Message app, Call app, TrackID, TackID TV, MyXperia, SmartConnect and small apps.
- New Xperia downloadable themes included.
As per the changelog provided by Sony it is clear that there is No 4K cam app, No TimeShift Video app, No Smart Call Handling app, No Smart Backlight Control, No Glove Mode, No Tap to Wake up feature.
We can’t see now news about Android 4.4.2 KitKat rollout for Xperia SP, Xperia C, Xperia V, T, TX and Xperia L for the time being, hope Sony provides the info soon.

I Told you earlier that Z2 features will not be given, Not all disappointed. I expected the same update to come without any features, it was all known before 🙂

It will be available via PC Companion, OTA will not roll so soon, it will take atleast 1 month for OTA to come out.

schedule is already mentioned in post. Mid Q2 for XZ,ZL,TabZ, ZR and for other device it is still in dark 😛

Hey I just bought Xperia sp cause Sony recently proclaimed that 4.4.2 kit kat will be available for Xperia Sp…I hope they make their promise..Since Sp is a mid range high end phone they should probably roll out the update otherwise they will be disappointing a lot of Sp users across the world who bought the phone for its processor and the promised Kit kat update!!Even Moto G got kit kat from Motorola which has low end specs Adreno 305 comparing to high end Adreno 320 of Sp…Psssst!!!I want you buddy to do a more detailed research of Sp and inform us if the update is coming!!Thanks a lot!!
