Sony has pushed a new 16.0.b.2.16 firmware update for Xperia C over previous 16.0.b.2.13 build, keeping Xperia C on android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean for the time being. 16.0.b.2.16 firmware update is available over PC Companion only for the time being, no OTA seen yet. To update you need PC Companion remember Sony has discontinued SUS so you can’t update via SUS.

16.0.b.2.16 firmware is confirmed in India and other Asian regions. 16.0.b.2.16 firmware is minor big fixing update only, updated by Sony on Xperia C software support page also.

Xperia E1 20.1.A.0.47, E1 Dual 20.1.B.0.64 Android 4.4.2 KitKat update rolling

Sony Mobile has officially rolled out android 4.4.2 KitKat firmware update for Xperia E1 Dual and Xperia E1, making the announcement on their blog today. Xperia E1 and E1 Dual users can now update their handset over KitKat, confirmed in India and European regions.

Xperia E1 D2004 and D2005 has got 20.1.A.0.47 firmware while Xperia E1 Dual D2104 and D2105 has got 20.1.B.0.64 firmware update. Update is available over PC Companion, No OTA seen yet.

Sony has confirmed giving app to SD card feature for Xperia E1 and Xperia E1 Dual in this update saying this feature will be useful for devices with low internal memory. It was first spotted in Xperia T2 Ultra’s KitKat update recently.

As a part of changelog, new transparent status and navigation bar spotted, new Xperia home launcher, new Xperia themes, tweaked Xperia keyboard, Xperia lockscreen effects and boot animation.

New Sony Media apps along with updated Camera app is present. For PlayStation 4 users, new UI is introduced. Smoother UI, performance enhancement, built-in screenshot taking option in power menu now.

Sony’s IFA 2014 press conference is confirmed for 3 Sept at Berlin and we may see new flagship devices Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact getting unveiled. Till now we have seen so many leaks regarding both devices but for the first time something has popped up related to their dimensions.

A set of CAD drawn pics of Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact have been leaked. Xperia Z3 seems to be 146.46 x 72.09 x 7.3 mm in dimensions.

IFA 2014 event is coming soon and Sony Mobile is all set for its press conference on 3 Sept, meanwhile there are rumors about Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact existence, it seems Sony is also planning a new Sony SGP621 Tablet in near future. Sony SGP621 Tablet has been certified at Indonesian Postel.

Sony SGP621 Tablet syncs in with previously released Sony SGP521 Xperia Z2 Tablet LTE and Sony SGP321 Xperia Z Tablet LTE; if we go by this naming convention we may be possibly looking at Xperia Z3 Tablet though launching a successor for Xperia Z2 Tablet at this moment makes no sense to us. A new 14.4.A.0.133 firmware has been certified for Xperia Z1, Xperia Z Ultra and Xperia Z1 Compact on PTCRB. Sony has already updated these Xperia handset to Android 4.4.4 KitKat. 14.4.A.0.133 seems a minor bug fixing update only over current build 14.4.A.0.108 firmware.

14.4.A.0.118 firmware saw a limited release on a few carrier Xperia Z1 devices. Hopefully we will see this time a global rollout of 14.4.A.0.133 firmware. Almost for all variants of above mentioned devices, 14.4.A.0.133 firmware is certified.

14.4.B.0.37 firmware brings features like new Xperia home launcher, new Xperia themes, customized Xperia Keyboard, transparent navigation and status bar, white status bar icons, new Sony Media apps, new bootanimation, more responsive touch screen and features like answering machine in call settings.
