Earlier in mid-March Sony rolled Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update for Xperia “Z3” and Xperia “Z2” series but the update was limited to only Nordics and Baltic regions. As per the latest announcement made by Sony Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update is now rolling globally for Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablet.

Just now, Xperia Z2 D6502/L50w has got Android 5.0.2 Lollipop (23.1.A.0.690 firmware) update in regions Vietnam, Singapore, Ukraine, Thailand, MENA Arabic, Generic LAM, USA, India. Xperia Z2 Tablet SGP521 users are reporting Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update in Saudi Arabia and Thailand now.

      Sony launched D6503 in India, I don’t think so. I guess you are using imported handset…Sony launched D6502 in India as far as I know.

          from customization info first find out from which region your device came, then only one can predict.

    Mine is a UK z2… D503.. Guess only d502 has got lollipoped.. In the Sony support website it shows the 690 build of lollipop.. Eagerly awaiting for mine.. But don’t know when might that happen..

      factory rest is always good if you are facing some troubles. I haven’t done on my Z2 yet, will wait for a few days to identify bugs then only I will do.

    How is the status bar? I’ve flashed Baltic firmware and status bar gets theme-color in apps like Whatsapp or Google Chrome, that was ugly and annoying

      right now there is no direct method for root available. You need to flash the pre-rooted rom zip file via recovery to get root.

    My xperia Z2 is not showing any update yet ? Even the PC companion is not showing update.

    I am from delhi and bought from amazon india. plzz help.

    Also, I have a problem sometimes when I closes an app, a full screen ads show up in my phone and nothing else.
    It is not with a particular app and is very random when its gonna come. But it comes like 1-2times in3-4 days.

    Only basic officials apps are installed like whatsapp facebook. I am not able to find solution. Please help.

    One more thing, when i unlock my device, first it shows black background on home screen and then the wallpaper loads, is it common or my device is having a problem ?

    I have finally updated my international D6503 with the help of http://xperiafirmware.com/8-firmware/51-sony-xperia-z2-d6503 without rooting in just 20 minutes. It’s awesome 🙂

          Battery is not good, mult-tasking and HSPA/4F takes away battery. It heats. X-Reality, I am missing it, it is not working in Album app. Animations are slow.

            I’m using xperia z2 D6502 (india)
            My problem is I got an update notification for lollipop and started to update via pc but I could not do so because of power failure (during installing the update on pc)
            Later after few hours in could not see the update notification on mobile and in pc it was displaying that you’re phone is already updated ( on sony pc companion)
            Anybody please help me

            Sony has removed Z2 Lollipop update in India from their servers for the time being that’s why you are not seeing any notification for the time being.
            It should be released soon.
            No ETA yet.
