Sony brought a new auto rotation feature in latest Xperia Home launcher version 8.0.A.1.2 which, spotted on the latest Android 5.0.2 Lollipop 10.6.A.0.454 firmware update on Xperia Z. Auto rotation feature will make Xperia homescreen auto rotate as soon the phone is held in landscape mode.

Xperia Home 8.0.A.1.2 version is now available for download but can only be installed on rooted Xperia devices running Android Lollipop firmware and should have superuser mod installed (on a deodexed ROM). It can’t be installed on non-rooted Xperia devices for the time being.

Before installing this latest version of Sony Xperia Home, do backup your original home launcher.

To install SuperUser Mod by serajr, follow this thread.

After installing SuperUser Mod, download the deodexed Xperia Home 8.0.A.1.2 apk from here.

After downloading move the apk, move it in system/app folder, set permissions rw- r– r– and reboot.

Permissions rw- r-- r-- for moving apps to system/app folder

How to enable auto rotation?

Tap anywhere on homescreen’s empty space > Home settings > move the slider to enable auto rotation.
