How to root Lollipop 10.6.A.0.454 firmware on Xperia Z?

Posted on May 23 2015 - 3:01pm by Anurag Kumar

Sony has updated Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR, and Xperia Tablet Z to Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update 10.6.A.0.454 firmware but the update, still has not been released in many regions. As the Lollipop update is still seeding other regions of the world will get it very soon.

After updating to Lollipop update, if Xperia Z users are looking for rooting their device then pre-rooted flashable zips are now available. There is no one-click root method available for the time being. Do remember rooting your device voids the warranty.

Root Xperia Z Lollipop 10.6.A.0.454 firmware

Below posted method is for both locked as well as unlocked bootloader device.

Pre-requisites

  • Xperia Z (C6602/C6603)
  • Android 4.4.4 KitKat (Sony firmware) installed on your device.
  • Rooted.
  • Recovery installed (CWM recovery preferred).
  • Take Backup of your KitKat ROM via recovery.

Download C6603_10.6.A.0.454_Customized HK.zip

OR

Download C6603_10.6.A.0.454_Customized_HK_Prerooted.zip

root Lollipop 10.6.A.0.454 firmware

What is working?

  • Root with SuperSU working.
  • Recovery of Lollipop firmware is not working.

So in case if you want to go back to KitKat firmware then you have to flash the KitKat firmware ftf for Xperia Z > root your device > get recovery installed > flash the backup.

How to Flash?

Flash the above posted pre-rooted zips via CWM recovery (as TWRP recovery is giving boot loop error).

Do a full wipe (data, system, cache, davilk) > Flash zip file > Reboot.

It may work also. You can try it but only after backing up the whole ROM (whichever you are on)

Yes full wipe will delete all data.

Boot your phone into CWM recovery mode there you find one option like “back up and restore” use it.

There is nothing to post, just flash the pre-rooted zip in recovery. What steps you are looking for. Boot your device into recovery and flash it.

If you are new to recovery and root then please don’t mess up with your device.

      How to navigate in recovery:-

Use “Power Button” to select any option.
Use “Volume Up and Volume Down” button to scroll through shown options.
