New 23.2.A.0.278 firmware firmware which was recently certified for Xperia Z3 (the then tagged as “Android 5.1”) is now officially rolling and is confirmed as Android 5.0.2 only. 23.2.A.0.278 firmware is confirmed rolling for Xperia Z3 D6603 in Germany (Telekom carrier). Update follows Android 5.0.2 23.1.A.0.690 firmware update for Xperia Z3.

Another bug fixing Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update in form of 23.1.A.0.726 firmware is rolling on Xperia Z3 Compact D5803 & D5833 whereas 23.2.A.0.278 firmware is also confirmed for Xperia Z3 Compact Germany users.

For the time being 23.2.A.0.278 firmware seems a carrier update only, lets see if it rolls worldwide or not. We will post the 23.2.A.0.278 ftf as soon as it is out.

Surprisingly a new 23.2.A.0.278 firmware has been certified for Xperia Z3 & Xperia Z3 Compact, which possibly looks Android 5.1 Lollipop update over current Android 5.0.2 23.1.A.0.690 firmware build for Xperia “Z3” series. 23.2.A.0.278 firmware has been certified only for Xperia Z3 D6653 and Xperia Z3 Compact D5833 only for the time being.

Sony has already rolled Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update on whole Xperia “Z3” series in Nordics and Baltic regions whereas now it is being rolled globally region by region for both Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z3 series.

Xperia Z3 23.1.A.0.690 firmware Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update rolling

Android 5.0.2 Lollipop Update is finally seeding on Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact. Xperia Z3 Android 5.0.2 23.1.A.0.690 firmware is now being reported in Nordic regions, Norway, Denmark, Sweden as reported by many users. Update is available for download via XperiFirm tool and via PC Companion also now.

23.1.A.0.690 firmware follows the same old 3.4.0 Kernel which was also spotted on 23.1.A.0.632 firmware running on Xperia Z3 at MWC 2015. Update is confirmed on Xperia Z3 D6603 LTE version for the time being. Sony has officially confirmed the new on their blog also and for next Xperia “Z” series handsets it will roll in next 2 weeks timeframe.

Xperia Z3 on T-Mobile soon getting 700MHz LTE 12 Band Support update in May 2015

T-Mobile is planning an update for Xperia Z3 in upcoming May 2015 which will bring 700MHz LTE 12 Band support for it which means better higher speed LTE connectivity. It seems that Android 5.0 Lollipop update will come later on Xperia Z3 T-Mobile may be after May 2015.

At present Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge enjoy T-Mobile 700MHz LTE 12 Band Support and as soon as T-Mobile is done rolling an OTA update for the same in May 2015, Xperia Z3 users will also be able to see it.

An user at XDA (CollinFX45) posted that he was able to connect to LTE 12 Band on T-Mobile network on his Xperia Z3 in US, may be T-Mobile is testing it now ( as they can’t enable it without due permissions ) and soon it will be enabled for all to connect.

How to Pair ?

To pair the case with your Xperia Z3, activate NFC on your device and then bring it near the below shown in built NFC tag on SCR24 case. It will prompt you to download the various smart windows widgets and apps which can be accessed from smart window without opening the cover.

If you look closely, there is a circular mark in below pic; it is where magnetic sensor is placed.

How to place your device ?

Peel of the sheet from the inner side of back flap of case and place your device on the adhesive gel pad.

Remove the protective layer from smart window.

USB and magnetic charging dock port can be accessed without opening the case. Check the below pic without Xperia Z3 showing that USB cable and charging dock pins can be easily inserted.

Sony introduced Smart Window cover for the first time ( for Xperia Z3 ) and previously they launched SCR10 case for Xperia Z2. Both cases are made up of PU Leather material.

Sony branding is placed on front flap on SCR10 case for Xperia Z2 and on back side of SCR24 case for Xperia Z3.

Ports openings are not accessible in SCR10 case ( while case is closed ).

SCR10 can be used as desk stand while the same functionality is absent in SCR24 case.

In the retail packing you get both Sony WCR14, WCH10 Wireless accessories inside the box ( as shown in the video ). Dimensions of WCR14 cover with Xperia Z3 inside it – 152 x 81 x 13.5 mm, weight ( without phone ) – 72 grams, weight of WCH10 plate is 51 grams. Sony’s latest edition to Xperia flagship Xperia Z3 is now available in market, getting sold, getting firmware update; in other words Xperia Z3 has found its way inside android smartphone market whereas on the other hand Sony is gearing up for the launch of Sony SmartWatch 3 and SmartBand Talk officially in the market.

Sony has provided a curved 1.4” e-paper display, built-in microphone and speaker. Sony SmartBand Talk SWR30 features HD Voice support with short call function enabling you to listen and talk into your caller. It has built-in accelerometer and altimeter sensor technology. SmartBand Talk SWR30 is IP68 certified ( water proof ). Connectivity options available are Bluetooth and Wi-Fi ( micro USB for charging ). There is no removable core in SmartBand Talk SWR30 but you can remove the wrist strap and connect any exchangeable SmartBand Talk Wrist Strap SWR310.

Xperia Z3 back cover lifting up itself issue spotted

Recently we posted an issue of Xperia Z3 Self cracking screen with a hairline crack and the Xperia Z3 Bent frame case but now Xperia Z3 back cover lifting up itself issue has been spotted. Earlier a similar kind of back cover lifting issue was spotted on Xperia Z ( for which we got a new replacement unit for our Xperia Z last year ). It is very surprising that three infamous issues found on previous Xperia flagships have already hit Xperia Z3.

An user Sophinia posted a pic of his/her Xperia Z3 at Sony Talk Forums, whose back cover is being lifted from top edge. Proper reason for this is unknown yet. It can be a manufacturer fault or can be user’s fault but nothing can be said at this moment. One of the possible reason can be excessive heat but no confirmation on that for the time being.

Once hyped iPhone 6 bend gate has already settled and now it seems the issue is popping up on Sony Xperia Z3. Recently we posted that a few users of Xperia Z3 are facing self cracking issue in their handset and now a T-Mobile Xperia Z3 users has posted pics of bent frame of his handset. Similar kind of frame bent issue was earlier spotted on Xperia Z1 and Xperia SP.

T-Mobile Xperia Z3 user dhaliwal925 posted a few pics of his bent Xperia Z3 on XDA. User claims his phone has not been dropped and neither he put his phone in back pocket or in ultra tight fitting jeans though he uses “arm band” and it may have caused his Xperia Z3 to develop this issue. He further adds “The armband couldn’t have been too tight otherwise I would have no blood flow to my arm, and if it was near my elbow no movement.”

How to unlock Xperia Z3 Bootloader, Install Custom TWRP Recovery & Root – Video Tutorial

Sony recently revamped their bootloader unlocking service and if you own Sony Xperia Z3 and want to root it along with unlocking bootloader then today we are sharing a video tutorial on how to root your Xperia Z3 bootloader, install custom recovery and root it. Keep in mind unlocking bootloader voids the warranty of your device and loss of your DRM keys if not backed up.

Xperia Z3 comes with android 4.4.4 KitKat out of the box with bootloader status allowable for unlocking. Keep in mind for Xperia Z3v ( on Verizon for US users ) you can’t unlock the bootloader as it is not allowed.

WARNING : Sony has issued a warning for Xperia Z3 users, that unlocking bootloader affects camera algorithm on their device. Proceed ahead if you wish to.

Certain pre-loaded content on your device may also be inaccessible due to the removal of DRM security keys. For high-end devices running recent software versions, for instance Xperia Z3, the removal of DRM security keys may affect advanced camera functionality. For example, noise reduction algorithms might be removed, and performance when taking photos in low-light conditions might be affected. The secure user data partition may also become inaccessible, and you will not be able to get any more official software upgrades if you unlock the boot loader.

Xperia Z3 Self cracking screen issue appears – One of the first case spotted with a Hairline crack

Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact have already hit market and now it’s time users will start flooding with the issues arising on their device. Xperia Z, Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z2 saw a very unusual issue of self cracking screen and now an Xperia Z3 has been spotted with the same self cracking screen issue unfortunately ( as per user ).

Xperia Z3 has IPS LCD 1080p 5.2″ Triluminos display with shatter proof glass same like Xperia Z2. A user ( likepeas ) on XDA forum has reported that a hairline crack has appeared on his Xperia Z3 without any drop. Though the corners of the device seems smooth ( a few small scratches spotted in one corner ) , it can’t be said whether it has been dropped or not ( although user claims it has not been dropped ).

Below you can see the pics of Xperia Z3 with hairline crack. Scratches seen on the aluminium frame corners in the pics are due to normal usage without any case, as mentioned by the user of this handset here.

Many users claim it happens due to heating or may be due to manufacturing defect but as the same self cracking screen issue has been spotted on all Xperia flagship devices since Xperia Z launch, it is a matter of concern for the users who have been affected by this.

NOTE : We have not seen many users reporting Xperia Z3 self cracking screen issue neither at XDA nor at Sony Talk Forums. As it is one of the FIRST CASE that has been reported so nothing can be said at the moment. Many Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact users have got in touch with us regarding this issue now.

Probability of its happening is very low ( almost negligible but it do happens as seen from past cases ). So is it user’s fault or manufacturing fault – this statement is debatable so no comments on it!

As per our talk with one of the Sony service center guy in India, Sony do consider hairline crack issue under warranty but no assurance is there that they will always consider your request for replacement.

Now it is time to see can Xperia Z3 stand a little bit of fire also.

In a very interesting video posted, Xperia Z3 is used as one of the ingredient to make a burger. You will see meat loaf around Xperia Z3 and then put to flames in a frying pan and finally in a burger.

Xperia Z3 D6653 23.0.A.2.108 firmware certified – Minor Bug Fixing Update

A new 23.0.A.2.108 firmware has been certified for Xperia Z3 D6653 at PTCRB following the 23.0.1.A.1.38 build. New firmware move the build to 23.0.A.2.xxx from older 23.0.1.A.1.xx, though 23.0.A.2.108 firmware seems a minor update over an older 23.0.A.2.105 firmware.

23.0.A.2.108 firmware is only seen certification for Xperia Z3 so far and specially for D6653 variant only. 23.0.1.A.1.38 build was seen certified for Xperia Z3 Compact but newer build 23.0.A.2.108 has not seen certification yet.

[ VIDEO ] Xperia Z3 Knife Sensitivity Test – Fruit Ninja Played with Knife

Yesterday we posted a video where Xperia Z3 successfully passed Nutella Chocolate and Coca Cola Test and now it is the turn to see how sensitive Xperia Z3’s screen is where Fruit Ninja 2.0 update is played on Xperia Z3 with the knife.

Sony has not provided a screen protector over Xperia Z3 just like Xperia Z2. Do not repeat the actions shown in video on your device, doing so may damage your device.

In the below video you can see Xperia Z3’s screen responds to knife’s pointy touch pretty fine.

It is clearly visible that Sony has done a pretty good job with Xperia Z3’s screen responsiveness quality. It would have been great if it also supported stylus support like Xperia Z Ultra.

Xperia Z3 passes Nutella Chocolate, Coca Cola Test – Video

Sony Xperia Z3 is IP65/68 certified smartphone which makes its the best water resistant phone present today along with Xperia Z3 Compact and Xperia Z3 Compact Tablet. Earlier we have seen Xperia Z3 getting unboxed under water and now Xperia Z3 is dipped in Coca Cola and Nutella, passes both test successfully.

Do not try to do any of the below shown act in video to your Xperia Z3, you may end up damaging it. Neither we nor the person in video recommends it, doing so may void your warranty somehow if something gets inside the device.

Touch response of screen is working pretty good after the test even with some Coca Cola on the screen. No speaker test is shown in the video.

Xperia Z3 Nutella Test

After Chocolate is rolled over Xperia Z3 fully you can see touch is working great. Though audio intensity got low a bit for sometime but it got back later. No chocolate was seen inside the side of rear frame.

Xperia Z3, Z3 Compact launched on DoCoMo, au by KDDI & SoftBank Mobile in Japan

Sony Mobile has recently announced the launch details regarding the release of Xperia Z3 series in Japanese Market. Sony has exclusively launched Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact on NTT DoCoMo, au by KDDI and SoftBank Mobile. For the first time Sony has come up with a handset on SoftBank Mobile in Japan.

As we all know Japan is the home turf for Sony, so they will be trying hard to dethrone other companies with their new flagship device. Xperia Z3 is already been released in other parts of the world. Recently it went on sale in India, available online at Flipkart.

Xperia Z3 (Japanese Version)

Models Info : Xperia Z3 (SOL26) on au by KDDI, Xperia Z3 (SO-01G) on NTT DoCoMo, Xperia Z3 on SoftBank Mobile. 32 GB model is launched.

Xperia Z3 Compact(Japanese Version)

Models Info : Xperia Z3 Compact (SO-02G) on NTT DoCoMo.

Note that Xperia Z3 Compact is an exclusive of for DoCoMo carrier and it has the same 16 GB internal memory as of the international version.

Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact Wi-Fi SGP611JP, Xper models will also be available in Japan later in November.
