Sony recently announced their roadmap of upgrading their Xperia smartphones to the android version 4.3 Jelly Bean and android 4.4 KitKat , Xperia SP will get the official android 4.3 Jelly Bean next month. But Sony didn’t mention the android4.4 KitKat for the Xperia SP in the first batch of devices getting it ,probably it will get it after the first raft of Xperia smartphones get the update.

Xperia SP C5302/C5303 12.0.A.2.254 firmware update Rolled – Minor Bug Fixing update

Just now we have spotted that another firmware 12.0.A.2.254 has hit the Xperia SP both C5303 LTE and C5302 HSPA+ versions. Previously Xperia SP has 12.0.A.2.245 firmware, rolled in the month of August. 12.0.A.2.254 firmware was just seen on PTCRB as certified and here it comes now.

12.0.A.2.254 firmware, a bug fixing update only for Xperia SP is available on PC Companion / SUS and Bridge and rolled for both carrier networks as well as unbranded devices.

12.0.A.2.254 firmware update confirmed in Hungary, Pakistan, Indonesia, Thailand, India, Singapore and on O2 carrier in UK. Will soon roll in other regions also.

Xperia SP 12.0.A.2.254 firmware certified by PTCRB

It seems again Xperia SP is in line to get a firmware update, recently it got 12.0.A.2.245 firmware update fixed a lot many bugs though new ones born also 😛 After that we saw PTCRB certifying 12.0.A.2.250 firmware but just now we have spotted another higher firmware build over previous certified firmware.

for All three variants for Xperia SP viz. C5302 , C5303, C5306; 12.0.A.2.254 firmware have been certified on PTCRB. It seems to be a minor bug fixing update over previously rolled 12.0.A.2.245 firmware update.

12.0.A.2.245 firmware update has some bugs in lightning of illumination bar in stamina mode and the black dots appearing in camera pics, hope Sony fixes all bugs in upcoming update soon…

It is also expected to come as Android 4.1.2 only.

Still many users claim that they have not got 12.0.A.2.245 firmware yet and a new firmware has been listed. 12.0.A.2.245 firmware seems to fix many bugs but still it was android 4.1.2 update. Some users are claiming that notification illumination bar is having some issues with Stamina Mode one in this 12.0.A.2.245 firmware.

Sony has already confirmed that Xperia SP will be getting Android 4.3 update but Android 4.2.2 is still missing, will it be getting directly android 4.3 update or a new android 4.2.2 update is coming…Well it still remains a mystery.

Guess what Sony has rolled out another update, this time for Xperia SP. Both Xperia SP C5302 HSPA+ and C5303 LTE version are being reported with this new Android 4.1.2 12.0.A.2.245 firmware update, probably it is the bug fixing update over previous 12.0.A.1.257 firmware ( Update in India ) and 12.0.A.1.284 ( Global ) updates.

Android 4.1.2 12.0.A.2.245 firmware Update for Xperia SP confirmed in India, Philippines, Vietnam. Android 4.1.2 12.0.A.2.245 firmware update available over PC Companion, SUS and Bridge. It’s a global update rolling in every region as it has been reported on both versions of Xperia SP 🙂

12.0.A.2.245 firmware Update seems to fix many bugs. It looks very much similar to Xperia Z android 4.2.2 updates, looks this what Sony Xperia SP got for skipping android 4.2.2 😛 UI is improved very much.

Xperia SP Heats Up Goes dead – Won’t Turn On or Charge – SOLUTION

Xperia SP, the wonderful phone launched by Sony has gained world-wide appreciation. It is powered with 1.7 Ghz. dual-core Snapdragon S4 pro chipset packed with Adreno 320 GPU. Xperia SP comes with wealthy 2370 mAh non-removable battery which means that to do hard reset, we need an alternative way to switch it off.

Xperia Z also has a non-removable battery with a non-removable back casing, so in order to do a hard reset on it, one need to press and hold down “power+volume up” together for 3-5 seconds then phone vibrates, switched off and restarts. Well unfortunately the same method doesn’t work on Xperia SP.

Let’s come to main issue of this article.

Xperia SP Heats Up Goes dead – Won’t Turn On or Charge

Many Xperia SP users have complained that their handset heats up to extreme sometimes during charging and then remain hot for a while more than 30+ minutes. Well that’s terrible.

So What Actually Happened with us ?

At 13% battery, we put our Xperia SP on charging and when we came back after half and hour, we found our Xperia SP was very hot :/ We removed the charger and kept the phone aside. Even after 30 minutes phone didn’t cool down and the golden light in the illumination bar didn’t shut, it was lighted through out that period.

Xperia SP Won’t Turn or Charge

We were not able to get back to display screen even after pressing the power button on our Xperia SP, neither it was charging not it was turning on. For a moment we were afraid, that what happened. Phone was in on stage, it was not switched off.

Problem Solution

We thought of re-installing the firmware on our Xperia SP 12.0.A.1.257 firmware again by SUS, but before doing that we thought of doing a hard reset so that it can be switched off and restarted.

So how did we do that ? – Remember “Pressing power + Volume UP” button combination don’t work in Xperia SP.

Remove the back cover of Xperia SP and look for a small yellow dot on mid bottom with “OFF” written below it. Check the image below.

Now “Press & Hold Down the OFF Button, using a tip of pen or any other pointed object for around 10 seconds”. Phones vibrates and will be switched off automatically. Check image below.

P.S. Don’t use very sharp objects as it may damage the OFF Button.

Now phone restarts.

After restarting we found that our Xperia SP got back to normal temperature and everything was fine. 🙂 We were able to charge our Xperia SP again, device was cool.

Conclusion

Main issue is that why Xperia SP is getting this issue ? Why Phones heats up suddenly without doing nothing ? Why doesn’t it turns on ? Why doesn’t it charge ??? Many users are coming up with this issue on Sony Mobile Forums even…no proper verdict has been given by support staff on this issue.

After downloading the above file, extract it. You will see two folders named with “Files” and “RUNME.bat”.
Now execute the “Runme.bat” (do not run as administrator).
Follow the instructions as shown on cmd screen as shown below.

Commands to enter into shell are, type the following commands one by one as per screen instruction.

cd /data/local/tmp
chmod 777 doomed
./doomed

As soon as script is finished execution, reboot your device.

What will you get ?

It will rot your device using the pref_event exploit.
Install BusyBox.
Install SU files.

Xperia SP C5302 Jelly Bean firmware 12.0.A.1.284 Rolled out

Just now another Xperia handset has got Jelly Bean update. Yesterday Xperia S, SL and Acro S got Jelly Bean 6.2.B.0.211 firmware update though it was buggy but still it was a update 😛 Just now Sony Xperia SP C5302 has got Jelly Bean firmware 12.0.A.1.284 update. Previously version of update was 12.0.A.1.257.

Xperia SP C5303 LTE version has not got this update yet. It seems only HSPA+ handsets have got it yet.

Xperia SP C5302 Jelly Bean firmware 12.0.A.1.284 update has brought out some little changes only. Users are reporting that this update has brought out only camera improvement, any other changelog is unknown. Speed of Auto Focus in camera has improved. Speedy Battery draining issue is there a little bit. If you have updated your Xperia SP do let us know in comments about the firmware changelog.
