Xperia M has been updated to new 15.4.A.1.9 firmware which moves it from old android 4.3 jelly bean 15.4.A.0.23 firmware. Initially Sony didn’t enable Xperia themes downloading feature on Xperia M android 4.3 jelly bean update but 15.4.A.1.9 firmware update brings support to install and download Xperia themes from the Play Store which is the most significant changelog of this update we found.

15.4.A.1.9 firmware update is confirmed on Xperia M C1904 and C1905 in Europe region and India. 15.4.A.1.9 firmware notification is also available in phone but you need computer to download it. Connect your Xperia M to PC Companion / SUS to download 15.4.A.1.9 firmware update, it is around 682 MB in size.

A lot rumored Xperia M android 4.3 update is finally live, Sony Mobile has just started rolling android 4.3 15.4.A.0.23 firmware update for Xperia M C1904, C1905. In past we have seen evidence of 15.4.A.0.21 firmware for Xperia M and 15.5.A.0.16 firmware for Xperia M Dual getting certified on PTCRB. Sony has updated Xperia M android 15.4.A.0.23 firmware on it’s software support page while no android 4.3 update yet seen for Xperia M Dual but it should come sooner or later now.

Android 4.3 15.4.A.0.23 firmware for Xperia M is confirmed rolling in regions like Poland, Belgium, France, Greece, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Italy, Malaysia, Singapore, Sweden, Switzerland, Philippines. 15.4.A.0.23 firmware is confirmed getting via PC Companion and SUS, on OTA seen yet.

Xperia M Android 4.3 15.4.A.0.21 firmware approved by SFR carrier in France

Good news for Xperia M users, previously certified mysterious 15.4.A.0.21 firmware on PTCRB for Xperia M C1905 and C1904 is now confirmed to be Android 4.3 update. SFR carrier in France has confirmed approval of android 4.3 15.4.A.0.21 firmware for Xperia M and soon it will start rolling via PC Companion or OTA though no specific date is mentioned yet.

15.4.A.0.21 firmware was certified for Xperia M on PTCRB a month back along with new 15.5.A.0.16 firmware which was certified for Xperia M dual which at present is on Android 4.2.2 version while Xperia M is on android 4.1.2. SFR carrier has also listed an official changelog of Xperia M Android 4.3 15.4.A.0.21 firmware update. SFR carrier has also mentioned the customization version as C1905_15.4.A.0.21_SFR-FR_1275-3031_R5C.

Vodafone AU has also confirmed that testing for Xperia M android 4.3 update in undergoing already. It is not clear yet that as all carriers are stating the fact of Android 4.3 update for Xperia M while Sony is keeping it secret.

We hope Xperia M and Xperia M Dual both gets android 4.3 soon, as soon any information of 15.4.A.0.21 firmware rollout comes, we will update. No Android 4.3 plans have been mentioned by Sony for Xperia L and Xperia C yet.

FreeXperia brings Xperia M CyanogenMod 11 Android 4.4.2 FXP309 build

Sony recently certified 15.4.A.0.21 firmware for Xperia M which is speculated as Android 4.3 update but the chances of getting official Sony Android 4.4.2 KitKat update on Xperia M is very less and in the meantime FreeXperia Team has decided to support Xperia M CyanogenMod 11 Android 4.4.2 development and first FXP309 build has come up now.

Xperia M CyanogenMod 11 Android 4.4.2 FXP309 build is now available for download and Xperia M users can test it if they want to taste the android 4.4.2 KitKat flavor on their device. You need to unlock the bootloader to install CyanogenMod 11 Android 4.4.2 FXP309 build on Xperia M. Unlocking bootloader voids the warranty.

XDA Dev PecanCM started a lot ago on bringing CyanogenMod to Xperia M and now here it comes.

Xperia M 15.4.A.0.21 firmware, Xperia M Dual 15.5.A.0.16 firmware certified – Is it Android 4.3 ?

Xperia M which at present features android 4.1.2 version and Xperia M Dual features android 4.2.2 version, just now for both phones a major firmware is certified on PTCRB which seems as an upgrade to android version. Xperia M 15.4.A.0.21 firmware and Xperia M Dual 15.5.A.0.16 firmware is spotted on PTCRB besides some other firmwares which were certified a day before.

15.4.A.0.21 firmware is certified for Xperia M C1904 and C1905 which also saw 15.1.C.2.9 firmware and 15.1.C.2.8 firmware getting certified for it a day earlier. 15.5.A.0.16 firmware is certified for Xperia M Dual C2004 and C2005 which also saw 15.2.A.2.14 firmware getting certified a day earlier.

At present Xperia M is on 15.1.C.2.8 firmware which means a jump from 15.1.C.x.x to 15.4.A.x.xx firmware is huge update. Check below the 15.4.A.0.21 firmware certification for Xperia M on PTCRB page.

Xperia M Dual is on 15.2.A.2.5 firmware which means it will be moved from 15.2.A.x.x to 15.5.a.x.xx, which again indicates a major update. Check below the 15.5.A.0.16 firmware certification for Xperia M Dual on PTCRB page.

Rumors which these firmware certifications for Xperia M and Xperia M Dual has started that they might bring Android 4.3 update for them, though Sony didn’t mention about them in their android 4.3 update plan but a few days back we saw Vodafone Australia confirming that android 4.3 for Xperia M is in testing and it may come if everything goes right.

Xperia M Android 4.3 testing scheduled says Vodafone Australia

Sony rolled Android 4.2.2 on Xperia M Dual but it left Xperia M on android 4.1.2, the then Xperia M users are asking us when they will get android 4.2.2 update. As per Sony’s earlier plan for android 4.3 update, only a few phones will be getting android 4.3 for now and the ones which are left are Xperia M, Xperia L, Xperia E, Xperia C.

We just noticed on Vodafone Australia blog where they have posted a software update schedule for some handsets, it seems Xperia M will directly be updated to android 4.3 from android 4.1.2, at present status of Xperia M android 4.3 is “testing scheduled”. Besides Xperia M, Xperia SP and TX are also seen with android 4.3 status as in “testing”.

When we asked concerned Vodafone Australia support that are they sure that Xperia M will get android 4.3 as Sony clearly mentioned on their blog that Xperia M will not get android 4.3 so in return we got a reply that “As soon as everything runs smoothly in testing phase, Xperia M will get android 4.3 update”.

If somehow Xperia M gets Android 4.3 update by chance then it will be a big surprise for us as Xperia L left out with android 4.2.2 update and Xperia M getting Android 4.3. Kindly note that it may or may not come, as Sony has not come up with any official word on Android 4.3 for Xperia M till now.

Last night Xperia SP got new 12.1.A.0.266 firmware certified and Xperia T, V getting 9.2.A.0.295 firmware certified on PTCRB, it can be the case that it is the firmware which Vodafone Australia has put up on their blog.

Xperia M 15.1.C.2.8 firmware update – Camera Improved

Sony has given the taste of firmware updates to two Xperia handsets today, earlier in the morning we saw Xperia M Dual being updated to android 4.2.2 15.2.A.2.5 firmware and just now another update has hit Xperia M. Android 4.1.2 15.1.C.2.8 firmware ( moving from previous 15.1.C.1.17 firmware ) update has just hit Xperia M sadly keeping it still on android 4.1.2 as android 4.2.2 was expected seeing it already running on Xperia M Dual versions.

15.1.C.2.8 firmware update confirmed on both C1904/C1905 in Vietnam so far. 15.1.C.2.8 firmware update available as usual via PC Companion and SUS and on Bridge for Mac users.

Connect your Xperia M to PC Companion and look for a notification just like shown below for 15.1.C.2.8 firmware update and proceed as per on screen instructions.

Though Sony still has not updated the new 15.1.C.2.8 firmware on their website but the users who have already got it are saying that it improved “camera” ( atleast better than previous version ).

Xperia M 15.1.C.1.17 Firmware update rolled out – Fixed Reboot Issue and No Bluish tint in camera pics

A new 15.1.C.1.17 Firmware has been rolled for Xperia M on both versions of handset i.e. C1904/C1905 and fixes some of the major bugs as stated by Xperia M users. Previous updates on Xperia M were 15.1.A.1.9 firmware and 15.1.A.1.5 firmware ( out of box it came on firs batch of handset ).

15.1.C.1.17 Firmware is a major update and keeps Xperia M C1904/C1905 on android 4.1.2 only and is confirmed in India and Malaysia region and is still seeding, may roll out soon in other parts of world too.

We guess it’s the year when new Sony Xperia smartphones are raining, we just spotted new Xperia M on Sony Mobile website under label “coming soon”. Sony has listed the full overview, features, specifications on the site about Xperia M. The first impression of phone looks like Xperia J and Xperia L, more similar to Xperia L.

On all pic of Xperia M it is written on Home screen as “6 June” 🙂

Xperia M Features and Specifications

Sony has officially listed Xperia M under it’s global phone categories. Well the phone seems a mediocre range from Sony with a dual core processor.

Xperia M running on 1 Ghz dual core Snapdragon 4 Plus MSM8230 processor with 28 nm LP semiconductor technology. Android 4.1 Jelly Bean comes in stock. Xperia M has 4″ TFT display with 854×480 pixels resolution just like similar to Xperia J (4″) and Xperia L (4.3″) screen. Xperia M weighs 124 grams which is similar to Xperia J weigh and lighter than Xperia L which weighs 137 grams. Dimension of Xperia M is 4.88 x 2.44 x 0.37 inches. Xperia M is powered with 5MP cam with Exmor RS censor and 4x digital zoom along with auto focus and HDR.

Being a phone of Xperia 2013 lineup , it has the same OmniBalance design just like Xperia Z. Xperia M has 1 GB RAM, 4GB internal and expandable card slot till 32 GB and Adreno 305, battery 1750mAh . Xperia M connectivity options has USB 2.0, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC enabled which actually Sony is boasting up 😛
