Sony Mobile launched Xperia Z3+ in India today at a press conference in New Delhi. Xperia Z3+ has been priced at Rs 55990/$881 and will be available in white, black, copper, and aqua green color starting from today at all leading Sony Xperia stores.

Sony is giving away Quick Charger UCH10 (worth Rs 3490) within the box of Xperia Z3+. Sony claims Xperia Z3+ can go for 5.5 hours with just 10 minutes of charging with quick charger supplied along with it. A month back on 26 May, Sony India launched Xperia C4 Dual and Xperia M4 Aqua in India at a price of Rs 29490 and Rs 24990 respectively.

Xperia Z3+ features Snapdragon 810 64 bit Octa core processor (2 GHz) with 3 GB RAM, 32 GB internal storage (with micro SD card support). It features 20.7 MP camera 25mm wide-angle, 1 / 2.3 inch size sensor (ISO 12800). It features 5.1 MP front camera (25mm wide-angle).

Xperia Z3+ weighs 144 grams and is 6.9mm thin with 5.2″ FHD Display (1920 x 1080 resolution, no 2K) packed in an aluminum frame with glass back. Xperia Z3+ features 2930 mAh battery (which is less as compared to Xperia Z3 & Xperia Z2).

Xperia Z3+ comes with Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box (5.0.2). Xperia Z3+ is IP65/68 certified (with capless USB port). In terms of design, Xperia Z3+ is a combination of Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z2 but slimmer, lighter, and powerful.

Sony Video app 9.3.A.0.2.beta version brings Playback History option

Sony Video app has got a new beta 9.3.A.0.2 version update today. Earlier today we saw Video app getting a stable release in the form of 9.2.A.1.6 version. Video app 9.3.A.0.2.beta version brings minor bugs fixing and a new history option is added in the menu section which will show a list of all recently played videos. Playback history can be deleted easily.

Sony introduced some new features in the Video app (first spotted in 9.2.A.0.6 version) like swipe down to shrink the video player with playback ongoing; swipe up to maximize it again and swipe left to dismiss the video. Video app 9.3.A.0.2.beta version will also work on Android 4.2+ running devices though with some limitations (check here).

Sony Mobile Taiwan has launched a Xperia M4 Aqua Dual exclusive Xperia Kuo Fu theme (Xperia Puff Theme) on Play Store. It is not available for download on other Xperia users running Android Lollipop.

As per the listing of the theme, it is only available for the Taiwan listed Xperia M4 Aqua Dual handsets(compatible with both rooted as well as non-rooted Xperia handset).

Verizon Xperia Z4v inspired Lollipop Themes

Sony unveiled Xperia Z4v for Verizon Wireless USA a few days back with some tweaked hardware & software changes as compared to Xperia Z4. On the demo unit of Xperia Z4v, a red-pink-orange colored wallpaper was displayed, probably exclusive for Xperia Z4v.

Recently we shared midnight blue and pink colored wallpapers from Xperia A which are exclusively available on Xperia A only. Now a few Xperia themes inspired from those wallpaper designs have come. All below posted themes will only work on Lollipop running Xperia devices.

Sony launched a promotional “Chhota Bheem” AR Effect theme on Play Store today. Chhota Bheem is an Indian animated cartoon series which comes on Pogo TV. This AR Effect theme is suitable for kids only.

You need version v3.3.13 of AR Effect App or the higher one (get AR Effect app here) to install the Chhota Bheem AR Effect theme. App will only work with Sony Social Smart Camera app installed on Xperia devices running Android 4.3+.

Android M Developer Preview released by Sony for Xperia devices

Very unexpectedly Sony Mobile has released Android M developer preview for 12 Xperia devices as a part of Sony’s open device program. Earlier Google released Android M developer preview images for a few selected Nexus devices.

Sony has released Android M developer preview (AOSP Images) for these 12 Xperia devices for the time being viz. Xperia Z3, Z3 Compact, Z3 Compact Tablet, Xperia Z2, Xperia Z2 Tablet, Xperia Z1, Z1 Compact, Xperia Ultra, Xperia E3, Xperia M2, Xperia T2 Ultra, and Xperia T3.

Sony releases Android M Developer Preview

Check the video released by Sony running Android M developer preview on Xperia Z3 Compact.

All those developers who are looking to play with Android M can now download software binaries (Download other required files here) for Android M developer preview and start the play.

To avoid the confusion, we would like to tell users that AOSP images mean that developers can now test their apps on the preview images before the original Android M is released officially.

Developer preview images are only for developers (not for daily usage as mentioned by Sony; camera and modem are not working for the time being).

Sony PlayStation app has been updated to newer 2.55.8 version over older 2.55.15 version. Sony PlayStation App 2.55.8 version now allows PS Store to be opened within PlayStation app. PlayStation card numbers and promotion codes can now be entered within PlayStation app.

Comments that users receive while broadcasting from the PS4 system can now be displayed on the second screen. App is compatible with devices running Android 4.0+.
