Yesterday we saw the official press release papers of Xperia Z21 being leaked, revealing all the specifications of Xperia Z1 very clearly.
Just now we saw an amazing video where some models in semi transparent red swimsuit were seen with Xperia Z1, playing with in a artificial pool.

Is Sony doing good…advertising like this, well this is not the first time we saw an Xperia phone in the hands of models, back in the days of Xperia Z, we saw bikini clad models holding Xperia Z in the shower.

Which Xperia Phones will get Major Android 4.4 KitKat Update ?
Just a big news came fronm SVP, Android, Chrome & Apps, Google “Sundar Pichai”, confirmed that “Android 4.4 KitKat update” will soon follow the existing android 4.3 Jelly Bean update 🙂
Sundar Pichait tweeted saying “We now have over 1 Billion Android activations and hope this guy in front of the building keeps that momentum going“.
As next Android 4.4 KitKat Update has been officially announced now and still we haven’t seen android 4.3 update on any Xperia Phone. Xperia Z1 which will be launched on 4 Sept at IFA 2013 will also have android 4.2.2 version.
Which Xperia Phones will get Android 4.4 KitKat Update ?
Question arises in mind, Which Xperia Phones will get this major Android 4.4 KitKat Update ? Sony has already officially announced their plans to roll out android 4.3 on Xperia Z, ZL, ZR, Z Ultra, Tablet Z and Xperia SP, they also hinted some Xperia phone will get android 4.3 directly from android 4.1, hopefully it was for Xperia S, SL, Acro S and Ion. ( May be Xperia aslo ).
As it seems Sony is neglecting their 2011 handsets now for the android update 4.3, in that case it’s quite obvious curiosity in every Xperia user that which Xperia phones will get this Major Android 4.4 KitKat Update ?

Starting of month August brought a new stable bug fixing major 10.3.1.A.0.244 firmware update to Xperia Z both C6602 HSPA+ and C6603 LTE version and it has been a month since there is no news regarding any other firmware update for Xperia Z.
No firmware is certified on PTCRB also, may be Sony is busy with the Xperia Honami aka Xperia Z1 launch.
Xperia Z Android 4.2.2 10.3.1.A.2.67 firmware update may come – in Testing Now
Sources at XDA claims that one of the member have this 10.3.1.A.2.67 firmware on his Xperia Z C6603 and it is a “TESTING” version now which keeps Xperia Z still on Android 4.2.2 and have the same UI like existing android 4.2.2 10.3.1.A.0.244 firmware. It will soon arrive on hopefully Xperia Z, ZL, ZR and Tablet Z.
Take this info as rumor as per now.
No info is available regarding the 10.3.1.A.2.67 firmware arrival time and whether it will come or not and we may or may not see some higher build being certified on PTCRB instead of it.

Xperia SP 12.0.A.2.254 firmware certified by PTCRB
It seems again Xperia SP is in line to get a firmware update, recently it got 12.0.A.2.245 firmware update fixed a lot many bugs though new ones born also 😛 After that we saw PTCRB certifying 12.0.A.2.250 firmware but just now we have spotted another higher firmware build over previous certified firmware.
12.0.A.2.254 firmware certified by PTCRB for Xperia SP
for All three variants for Xperia SP viz. C5302 , C5303, C5306; 12.0.A.2.254 firmware have been certified on PTCRB. It seems to be a minor bug fixing update over previously rolled 12.0.A.2.245 firmware update.
12.0.A.2.245 firmware update has some bugs in lightning of illumination bar in stamina mode and the black dots appearing in camera pics, hope Sony fixes all bugs in upcoming update soon…
It is also expected to come as Android 4.1.2 only.
We will update you whenever 12.0.A.2.254 firmware comes online…If you have bugs in previous firmware, let us know in comments.

Xperia Z1 aka Honami C69XX 14.1.G.1.518 firmware certified by PTCRB
On 15 August we saw PTCRB listing firmwares for Xperia Honami C69XX ( C6903/C6906 ) series as 14.1.G.1.493 firmware, it was the first time when we saw a firmware being listed for a phone before it is launched. Strange thing is that, PTCRB remove the listing just after 5 days of certifying it.
Just now we have spotted 4 Variants of C69XX i.e. Xperia Honami aka Xperia Z1 on PTCRB.
PTCRB has again listed this time 14.1.G.1.518 firmware for Xperia Z1 ( Honami ) which is seen for 4 versions of Xperia Z1 as C6943, C6906, C6903. and C6902 L39h Chinese version of Xperia Honami which earlier today appeared on TENAA as it’s network license passed.
Certified 14.1.G.1.518 firmware seems to be a lower build of earlier certified and removed 14.1.G.1.493 firmware by PTCRB. Well it seems everything has been cooked up for Xperia Honami aka Xperia Z1 and Sony is testing the final firmware build for it.
Well now as it has already been confirmed that on #4Sept the world will see the #bestofSony in form of Xperia Z1 ( Honami ), we can’t wait for it now 🙂

All leaked images of White Xperia Honami agian, show a clear side profile of Xperia Honami, an open 3.5 mm water proof headphone jack, longer speaker grill at bottom which is very cool as small speaker grill on side at Xperia Z isn’t sufficient for louder output.
It seems Xperia Honami sports very thick bezels even thicker than Xperia Z ( not expected this time ).
Look at speaker grill, don’t you think it will be covered up when phone is held in portrait mode in hands.
Front 5″ display is flaunted ( Expected Triluminos display ). Again we saw branding of 20.7 MP camera with 1/2.3″ sensor with G-Lens” which was missing earlier today teased image of Xperia Honami.

Continuing our streak of reviewing protective accessories for Xperia Z, today we are reviewing a unique type of screen guard for Xperia Z which is shock proof. Yes a slight different from all other screen guards available in market.
Folks at BhavTav sent us this “Anti Shock Screen Protector Scratch Guard For Sony Xperia Z”, priced a bit high Rs 400 around 3.5$ due to its special shock proof nature otherwise all other screen guards for Xperia Z and normally available for Rs 100 i.e. 1.5 $ only.

As usual we didn’t like the way in which packaging was done, for our last item also “Xperia Z hard case” outer packaging was poor. Well let’s have a look at the cover of this anti shock screen guard for Xperia Z.

Pull protective film completely stripping.
Confirm positive and negative film, stick on it.
Click in the screen by hand to execute the air.
Well at first look it seems like a normal screen guard but it’s just a bit thick as compared to other screen guards, let’s take a look at screen guard from Roxfit and this Anti Shock Screen Protector Scratch Guard For Sony Xperia Z.
Some of the other worthy features are, non-slip grip, scratch resistance, air bubble releasing adhesive.
P.S. All screen guards are almost same, thought the above one says that it has “impact resistance and super-scratch resistance”; to be honest we didn’t try this all. We can’t scratch the screen or checking it’s shock proof nature. We didn’t test it.
Above mentioned screen guard was different from what we have used till now though unfortunately we were not able to test all its abilities. Try it guys if you want.
How to Root Xperia S, SL, Acro S 6.2.B.1.96 firmware via DooMLoRD Easy Rooting Toolkit v18
It has been just a few hours since we saw Sony officially rolling out the major bug fixing update 6.2.B.1.96 firmware over previous jelly bean 6.2.B.0.211 firmware. 6.2.B.1.96 firmware has fixed all the major bugs reported in previous updates ranging from 1080p HD Video Lag, Volume up button lag, Camera issues resolved etc.

Well the great news is that DooMLoRD, renowned XDA developer has successfully rooted this new 6.2.B.1.96 firmware within an hour of its launch, let’s see how you can root 6.2.B.1.96 firmware on Xperia S, SL and Acro S.
Sony has patched the perf_event exploit ( so to root 6.2.B.1.96 firmware would have been difficult ) so DooMLoRD found another way to root by flashing back old kernel on which root exploit was working and then again re flashing the new kernel, so root is there 🙂
How to Root Xperia S, SL, Acro S 6.2.B.1.96 firmware ?
Warning
Below method works only for Xperia S LT26i / Lt26ii 6.2.B.1.96 firmware any customization. Do not try on any other variants.
STEPS for ROOTING :- ( Below steps are for root 6.2.B.1.96 firmware Xperia S )
Workin on both Locked as well as UnLocked Bootloaders.
Enable USB Debugging and unknown sources option on your phone before proceeding. Do not use other kit version except V18.
Download Flashtool, Open it. Flash the “XperiaS_LT26i_6.2.B.0.211_KernelOnly.ftf” file on your Xperia S. It is the kernel of an old firmware of Xperia S which was rootable.
Reboot your Xperia S after flashing. Connect to PC in USB Debugging mode.
Do not forget to close FLASHTOOL. CLOSE FLASHTOOL , before proceeding next step or you will get serious error.
Extract the downloaded “DooMLoRD_Easy-Rooting-Toolkit_v18_perf-event-exploit.zip” file and run the “runme_win” file.
Follow onscreen instructions to root Xperia S and once it is rooted, device will reboot. Verify that you are rooted, run SuperSU app.
Now switch off your Xperia S. OPEN FLASHTOOL.
Now you need to flash “XperiaS_LT26i_6.2.B.1.96_KernelOnly.ftf ” file in order to get back the true kernel of Android 4.1.2 6.2.B.1.96 firmware of Xperia S.
After flashing, disconnect the phone from PC, reboot it and your Xperia S is now rooted and we are done with rooting Xperia S 6.2.B.1.96 firmware.
To root 6.2.B.1.96 firmware you just need to perform above steps carefully.
NOTE :- Xperia SL users can use their respective kernels or the kernels from Xperia S as posted above.
P.S. We are not sure whether this rooting kit supports Acro S or not, still if you want to go ahead, root at your own risk. Respective kernels of Xperia Acro S are added below.

Xperia S LT26i ,SL Lt26ii , Acro S Lt26w 6.2.B.1.96 firmware update rolled out just now officially. It is expected a major update over previous buggy Jelly Bean 6.2.B.0.211 firmware update.
6.2.B.1.96 firmware update still brings Android 4.1.2 on all three phones and has been confirmed in Nordic regions first particularly Sweden. In India, Taiwan, Brazil and Spain also users got the update. On Unlocked versions in UK, users of Xperia S reported the update. This time update is of 485 MB making it a major bug fixing update 🙂

For all those users who don’t want to wait for official update notifciation they can manually update by flashing ftf. Download the 6.2.B.1.96 firmware ftf file from given below link.
Below file is extracted from Phone Software version – 1252-0023_ 6.2.B.1.96, WORLD_6.2.B.1.96 so any country user can downlaod it and flash it 🙂

Pics confirmed that 14.1.B.1.493 firmware will definitely bring the new UI to Xperia Z Ultra including X-Reality for Mobile which was missing from Xperia Z Ultra C6802 HSPA+ version and Bravia Engine 2 is their till 14.1.B.0.475 firmware update.
Software info reads 1271-5715_14.1.B.1.493 Generic User, Global HSPA_ version.
14.1.B.1.493 firmware is expected to come officially with the launch of Xperia Z Ultra LTE C6843/C6833/C6806 versions. Hope we see it soon as Xperia Z Ultra uses are highly waiting for X-Reality to come on device.

Clearly the official name of Xperia Honami is still a mystery but it is rumored that Sony may launch it with the name Xperia Z1 following the success of Xperia Z series.
Side view of pic shows clearly the “Power button” and “Volume rocker buttons”. Well it seems very soon we will see more Xperia Honami teaser pics from Sony. Sony is creating amusing excitement among its fans by these teaser images.

X-Reality for mobile is presently missing from Xperia Z Ultra C6802 HSAP+ version and it is speculated that with the launch of Xperia Z Ultra LTE version, users will see X-Reality for Mobile in it.
