Xperia Z1 Compact D5503 has got a new 14.5.A.0.283 firmware update (only for the carrier handsets) in Austria and Germany region on T-Mobile AT and Telekom.de carriers respectively. Last firmware to hit the global variant of Xperia Z1 Compact was 14.5.A.0.270 build.

Android 5.0.2 Lollipop 14.5.A.0.283 firmware is also certified for Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z Ultra also thought roll out on global variants of these devices is not confirmed for the time being.

14.3.A.0.761 firmware rolling for Xperia Z1, Z1 Compact as OTA update

A new 14.3.A.0.761 firmware has been spotted rolling on Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z1 Compact where same 14.3.A.0.761 firmware was spotted on Xperia Z1 L39h in early May this year. 14.3.A.0.761 firmware is available via OTA update only as reported by many users and not seen on Xperia Z Ultra yet.

14.3.A.0.761 firmware seems a minor bug fixing update only as it is of less than 2 MB ( 1.9 MB ) size via OTA. 14.3.A.0.761 firmware is mostly seen on C6903 variant, only a few C6902 users reported this update. 14.3.A.0.761 firmware not seen in India and other Asian regions, mostly available in European regions. Just letting users know that recently a higher build as 14.3.A.0.769 firmware has been certified on PTCRB which we may see eventually getting rolled in future. Battery drain bug is fixed for Xperia Z1 users and overheating for Xperia Z1 Compact as mentioned by many users.

A few days back we saw 14.3.A.0.761 firmware on Xperia Z1 L39h in China while the same update not seen anywhere else. Following 14.3.A.0.761 firmware, a new 14.3.A.0.769 firmware has been certified at PTCRB for Xperia Z1, Z1 Compact and Z Ultra recently. After buggy KitKat update from Sony, 14.3.A.0.757 firmware was released to fix those bugs but unfortunately they are still there as users are reporting them.

14.3.A.0.769 firmware is not certified for all variants of Xperia Z1, Z1 Compact and Z Ultra as only certain region handsets have got certification yet on PTCRB. Either 14.3.A.0.769 firmware will be certified later for all regions or is it again a carrier specific firmware update; time will tell.

Xperia Z1 Compact 14.3.E.0.1 firmware certified on PTCRB

A new firmware in form of 14.3.E.0.1 firmware is being certified at PTCRB for Xperia Z1 Compact D5503 which is a very different build firmware configuration as when compared to present android 4.4.2 14.3.A.0.757 firmware. As the firmware config. has changed it seems a specific firmware for some carriers rather than regular Xperia Z1 Compact global variants.

After Sony released android 4.4.2 KitKat update for Xperia Z1, Z Ultra and Z1 Compact, all users were complaining regarding the bugs in this major update brought though Sony rolled a bug fixing update also but it failed to address the issue. Currently users are facing issues like battery drain, heating issues and sound issues.

As per the changelog provided by Sony it is clear that there is No 4K cam app, No TimeShift Video app, No Smart Call Handling app, No Smart Backlight Control, No Glove Mode, No Tap to Wake up feature.

We can’t see now news about Android 4.4.2 KitKat rollout for Xperia SP, Xperia C, Xperia V, T, TX and Xperia L for the time being, hope Sony provides the info soon.

KitKat 14.3.A.0.681 firmware certified for Xperia Z1, Z1 Compact – Android 4.4.2

After a long wait something credible regarding android 4.4.2 KitKat rollout for Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z1 Compact have come up, just now a new 14.3.A.0.681 firmware has been certified on PTCRB for both phones. A few days back android 4.4.2 KitKat 14.3.A.0.681 firmware build was spotted rolling on Xperia Z Ultra C6833 which is believed to be either internal leak or an update over a developer’s handset and day before yesterday we saw new 14.3.A.0.747 firmware running on Xperia Z Ultra.

At present 14.3.A.0.681 firmware is certified only for Xperia Z1 Compact D5503 and Xperia Z1 C6943 variants, nothing spotted for any varaint of Xperia Z Ultra yet. It is very much believed that this 14.3.A.0.681 firmware build may not roll out as a few days back Sony has started testing a new higher build 14.3.A.0.747 firmware for Xperia Z1 Compact, Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z Ultra.

As when 14.2.A.1.142 firmware was certified for Xperia Z1, Xperia Z Ultra and Xperia Z1 Compact, we mentioned that 14.2.A.1.144 firmware will be soon certified and it seems a carrier specific firmware and here it comes, just now 14.2.A.1.144 firmware has been certified for Xperia Z1 C6903 and Xperia Z1 Compact D5503 on PTCRB, nothing spotted for Xperia Z Ultra yet.

Yesterday we saw 14.2.A.1.146 firmware hitting Chinese Xperia Z1 Compact M51w and a day before that 14.2.A.1.142 firmware hit Xperia Z1 Compact D5503 but no update spotted for Xperia Z1 and Xperia z Ultra yet. Though it seems again a carrier specific update but you never know it comes 😉

Chinese Xperia Z1 Compact M51w got 14.2.A.1.146 firmware update

Xperia Z1 Compact D5503 got its first android 4.3 14.2.A.1.142 firmware update yesterday which seems only a minor bug fixing update though no specific changelog is spotted so far from any user. Same 14.2.A.1.142 firmware is also expected to hit Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z Ultra but chances are very low as we are expecting direct android 4.4.2 KitKat 14.3.A.x.xxx firmware to roll on these two devices.

Just now Chinese Xperia Z1 Compact M51w which is yet not available for sale, saw Android 4.3 14.2.A.1.146 firmware update. As when it will be available for sale, users will be getting this update hopefully or which ever update is available then.

Xperia Z1 Compact using JDI and AUO display Panels differently confirmed

If you remember sometimes back it was spotted that Sony has used two different display panels from JDI and AUO in Xperia Z1F and now same scenario is now spotted on Xperia Z1 Compact, international version of Xperia Z1 Mini released at CES 2014. As per reports Sony has used panels from JDI/JDC and AUO again in making Xperia Z1 Compact display, as many users have now confirmed that they have two different panels in their Xperia Z1 Compact.

Interestingly both JDI and AUO display panels used in Xperia Z1 Compact have superb display as per users but some of them are reporting bluish tint in the screen of Xperia Z1 Compact on both panels. Both panels have good brightness level and nice viewing angles.

You may need root to find that out but if your Xperia Z1 Compact is not rooted then use a file manager like “Solid Explorer”. Open it and then navigate to #_ System Root > sys > devices > mdss_dsi_panel > panel_id and Check what is mentioned there.

Sony has used different panels for Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1 F and now for Xperia Z1 Compact, well it seems display lottery will affect future flagship devices also. 14.2.A.1.142 firmware certified for Xperia Z1, Z Ultra, Z1 Compact

At present Sony Mobile is in middle of crisis regarding continuous delay in android 4.3 update for Sony Xperia SP, T, TX and V as promised by them and in middle of that regular updates are being rolled for Xperia Z family members. Recently we saw 14.2.A.1.136 firmware getting rolled for Xperia Z1, Xperia Z Ultra and same is expected to hit Xperia Z1 Compact very soon. 10.4.1.B.0.101 firmware was rolled on Xperia Z, ZL, ZR and Tablet Z.

Just now a new 14.2.A.1.142 firmware is certified for Xperia Z1, Xperia Z Ultra and Xperia Z1 Compact on PTCRB for all the variants. 14.2.A.1.142 firmware has very less chances of getting rolled as we heard Sony is now currently working on 14.3.A.X.XXX firmware which will bring Android 4.4.X KitKat update on Xpera Z1, Z Ultra, Z1 Compact.
