Since we saw Xperia Z2 D6503 17.1.A.2.36 firmware ftf getting leaked and available for download, cross development of new Xperia Z2 apps and features have started. A moment ago we saw new media apps viz. Movies 6.1.A.0.18, Walkman 8.1.A.0.7 and Album 5.4.A.0.24 app getting ported on android 4.1.2+ running devices and now new camera apps have also been ported from this new Xperia Z2 firmware.

XDA dev xperiaz2 aka Ash has ported new AR Effect 2.0.8, Background Defocus 1.1.14 and Movie Creator 1.1.A.0.4 app from Xperia Z2 new firmware for devices running android 4.1.2+ versions. You need root to install the apps, extract the apk from below zip file link and push in system/app > set permissions rw- r– r– and reboot or just flash the zip file in recovery; confirmed working on Xperia Z1 and SP.

XDA user dvha79_ddt has ported new media apps for rooted Xperia handsets running android 4.1.2 later version. Download the concerned media app apk file and install it like a normal apk or push in system/app > set permissions rw- r– r– and reboot. Only for rooted handsets, will not work on non root handsets, confirmed working on Xperia Z1, Z, ZL, SP etc.

You need a rooted handset with custom recovery installed on the device. We saw AR Effect 2.0.4  and Background Defocus 1.1.7 app version in previous 17.1.A.0.289 firmware system dump but now more news apps have come up.

XDA user dvha79_ddt has ported new Xperia Z2 Touch Block 1.0.A.0.1, AR Effect 2.0.7, Background Defocus 1.1.11, Timeshift Burst 1.1.0.0 apps from new firmware. You need to have root on your handset in order to install them with Sony Social camera already installed, should work on all android 4.3 running Xperia devices. Follow the instructions given below.

Two files are given for each app either you can flash the concerned zip file in recovery > reboot or push the concerned apk in system/app and set permissions rw- r– r– > reboot.

A few days back we got our hands on new Xperia Z2 KitKat media apps Album 5.4.A.0.22, Movies 6.1.A.0.16 and Walkman 8.1.A.0.6 but they were not working on devices as they were pulled directly from Xperia Z2 but now XDA dev dvha79_ddt has ported these app to other Xperia smartphones.

Xperia Z2 Album 5.4.A.0.22, Movies 6.1.A.0.16, Walkman 8.1.A.0.6 App port from KitKat is working fine on Android 4.3 running, rooted devices with CWM recovery installed. A few days back we also saw Xperia Z2 Movies 6.1.A.0.4, Walkman 8.1.A.0.4 app version port but those apps were from old Xperia Z2 17.1.A.0.289 firmware, confirmed working on Xperia Z1 Android 4.3.

A few days back we saw Xperia Z Ultra Android 4.4.2 KitKat 14.3.A.0.681 firmware update getting rolled on a user’s Xperia Z Ultra C6833, it is expected as either it is some internal leak or an update over some developer handset. Yesterday system dump of 14.3.A.0.681 firmware was leaked and developers have started porting features from Xperia Z Ultra KitKat update now.

XDA dev DavidMKD has ported Xperia Z Ultra KitKat Charging Animation mod from 4.4.2 and it looks pretty nice. You can install it on your android 4.1.2+ running handset, rooted with CWM recovery installed. Kindly install SuperUser Mod if you can, follow the guide given here.

To install Xperia Z2 black themed Message app port, you need root on android 4.3 or later versions, working on deodexed ROMS only ( install SuperUser Mod if you can, Xperia Z1 users see here. )
