Sony Z Ultra C6806 GPE Android 4.4.2 KOT49H Update Rolling – Fixes Uninstall app bug

It’s celebration time for Xperia user as Sony is rolling Android 4.3 firmware update on their devices and yesterday we saw Sony officially rolling Android 4.3 14.2.A.0.290 firmware update for Xperia Z1 and Z Ultra which fixed bootloader camera breaking issue on Xperia Z1 and brought Xperia Z1 Smart camera app to Xperia Z Ultra with some new Xperia themes and a smooth UI. In the meantime Sony Z Ultra Google Play Edition ( GPE ) users were complaining about some serious bugs on their device like they were unable to uninstall apps. Google finally acknowledged the issue and rolled an update.

Sony Z Ultra C6806 has got Android 4.4.2 KOT49H update from Google ( coming from Android 4.4 ). Android 4.4.2 KOT49H Update for Sony Z Ultra C6806 is a huge update of 444 MB and fixes many major bugs on Sony Z Ultra.

Look for OTA notification for Android 4.4.2 KOT49H Update on Sony Z Ultra and update over Wi-Fi.

Install Official CyanogenMod 11 M1 Nightlies on Nexus 4,5,7,10 devices

Android 4.4.1 KitKat KOT49E build is already available on Google Nexus 5, Nexus 7 2013, Nexus 10 and Nexus 4 which has brought many bug fixes and special camera app update for Nexus 5, though users were unsatisfied. In the mean time CyanogenMod Team has come up with something more great as now Official CyanogenMod 11 M1 Nightlies are available on Google Nexus 4, 5, 7, 10 variants as android 4.4 KitKat builds.

CyanogenMod team has updated the status as available on their blog and even for Galaxy Nexus S, CyanogenMod 11 M1 Nightlies build are available. They have made a suggestion on their blog to use the CWM recovery while flashing the ROM as some users are having trouble via TWRP recovery.

Official CyanogenMod 11 Nightlies for Xperia Z,ZL,ZR,T,V,Tablet Z – Android 4.4 KitKat Build Available

December is approaching and here we wait for Android 4.3 to come out officially on Xperia devices and meanwhile a few days ago we posted unofficial CyanogenMod 11 Android 4.4 KitKat builds for 2011 Xperia devices from LegacyXperia Project team for Xperia Arc/Arc S, Neo, Neo V, Pro, Mini Pro, Active, Mini, Ray, Live with Walkman and before that for 2012-2013 Xperia Devices Xperia Z1, Z,  ZL, ZR, Z Ultra, T, V, Go, P, Sola, U, SP, Tablet Z. All those builds were unofficially by various developers but now for some devices official CyanogenMod 11 Nightlies build have come up from CM team itself.

Official CyanogenMod 11 Nightlies for Xperia Z, ZL, ZR, T, V, Tablet Z  (Wi-Fi + LTE version) is now available on CyanogenMod website. Keep in mind that “Nightlies” build is not a stable build and is updated very frequently so if you want to taste the flavor of android 4.4 KitKat on your above mentioned Xperia devices you can download the builds.

Installing such ROMs require you to unlock the bootloader of phone. Keep in mind to have  a backup of the DRM keys before unlocking the bootloader for safety.

Unofficial CyanogenMod 11 for Xperia Z1,Z, ZL,ZR,Z Ultra,T,V,Go,P,Sola,U, SP,Tablet Z Available – Android 4.4 KitKat Builds

Android 4.3 soon will be hitting the Xperia Z family along with Xperia SP, T, V, TX in December and android 4.4 KitKat update plans have already been mentioned by Sony but if you are unwilling to wait for so long you can have the unofficial CyanogenMod 11 Android 4.4 KitKat builds flavor on your Xperia ZL, ZR, Z Ultra, T, V, Go, P, Sola, U, SP, Tablet Z. They have already been rolled for Xperia Z and Xperia Z1 a few days back.

FreeXperiaTeam is behind this unofficial CyanogenMod 11 KitKat 4.4 ROM for various Xperia devices.  Android 4.4 KitKat AOSP RevolutionROM for Xperia Z1 was released a lot ago from XDA recognized developer “krabappel2548″. You can check it out, it’s a stable ROM now.

Check below for Unofficial CyanogenMod 11 Android 4.4 KitKat Build ROM for various devices. Installing such ROMs require you to unlock the bootloader of phone. Unofficial CyanogenMod 11 KitKat 4.4 ROM for Xperia Z1 from FreeXperia Team

Xperia Z1 users are still waiting for official 4.3 update from Sony as it is officially due in December as per Sony’s statement on this, users can still get a taste of Android 4.4 KitKat (Not the Chocolate) via some unofficial sources. Yes FreeXperia Team has released an unofficial CyanogenMod 11 KitKat 4.4 Build for Xperia Z1 exclusively.

We posted a while ago about the first AOSP 4.4 “Revolution ROM” for Xperia Z1 from from XDA recognized developer “krabappel2548″, now its time for CyanogenMod 11 ROM, not official though. Many brilliant minds behind the FreeXperiaProject (FXP) team, came up with unofficial CM11 build on the XDA community for Xperia Z1.

As you must be knowing that Xperia Z1 users are facing issues when unlocking bootloader, the same goes with this one as well. It won’t be fixed until Sony comes up with a firmware update fixing this issue. For flashing, check the link below officially from FXP team.

Flashing Instructions and Downloading Package from FXP Team

The CAMERA IS NOT WORKING because bootloader issue persists. And it is a pre-requisite for flashing any CM ROMS. So keep in mind if you are to unlock your device:

  • Do keep a backup of the DRM keys before unlocking the bootloader.
  • If you flash the ROM or rather even unlock the Bootloader you might loose the loose the camera functionality.

Above mentioned ROM is still in testing, so if you are not sure to flash it, don’t do it now; wait for a stable release or an official one from CyanogenMod Team soon ( may be ). All credits to FXP team for their hardwork 🙂

Sony CONFIRMED Android 4.4 KitKat for Xperia Z, ZL, Z Ultra, Z1, Tablet Z – No ETA – Xperia ZR, SP, C Not mentioned

Most awaited news from Sony Mobile has just came up about android 4.4 KitKat update on Xperia devices, it is now CONFIRMED that Android 4.4 KitKat for Xperia Z, ZL, Z Ultra, Z1, Tablet Z will come very soon thought it is not expected this year obviously due to scheduling of android 4.3 update in December.

Sony Mobile as announced on their official blog that Xperia Z, ZL, Z Ultra, Z1, Tablet Z will be getting android 4.4 KitKat updates in future though no ETA has be given yet. Strange to see that Xperia ZR has not been named yet, may be they will do in future or they won’t it still remains a mystery.

So in a short note we are confirming this as per mentioned by Sony Mobile statement.

We’re also happy to tell you about the first raft of Xperia products that we’ll make Android 4.4 Kit Kat available for – they are: Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia Tablet Z, Xperia Z Ultra and Xperia Z1*.

What is Strange here ?

Nothing mentioned for Xperia ZR, C, and SP.

As Sony says that Xperia Z, ZL, Z Ultra, Z1, Tablet Z  are the first batch of devices getting android 4.4 KitKat update so it means we may see Xperia ZR, Xperia SP, Xperia C soon joining the list.

When should we expect it to come ?

As in December Sony is rolling out android 4.3 update for Xperia Z, ZL, Z Ultra, Tablet Z, Z1, ZR and Xperia SP, T, TX and V so we may see android 4.4 KitKat update next year in January 2014.

Other Devices which can get android 4.4 KitKat update ?

Other device which have very strong chances of getting android 4.4 KitKat update is Xperia T, TX and Xperia V.

No Android 4.4 KitKat update for :-

No updates for Xperia S, SL, Acro S, Ion, P, J, L, Tipo, Miro confirmed.

Android 4.4 KitKat AOSP ROM Coming soon for Sony Xperia Z1

While many Xperia users waiting in line for the android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for their devices officially by SONY, the XDA community strives to provide latest android build to almost every android device out there in the market. Same is the case with Sony Xperia Z1.
As the device launched with Android 4.2.2 , users are since then waiting for 4.3 update and now they are hoping that Sony might skip the 4.3 update in favor of 4.4 for Xperia Z1. Yesterday we saw Android 4.4 KitKat AOSP KRT16M Stable ROM on Xperia Z “Yuga” by XDA member pabx. Android 4.4 KitKat AOSP RevolutionROM for Xperia Z1 Released – Install it

As its well known that Sony Xperia Z1 suffers from a very major issue on the software side, i.e. the bootloader on it cannot be unlocked without breaking the camera functionality. If a users wants to unlock the bootloader, he needs to sacrifice the capabilities of the camera on a CAMERAPHONE. If a users tries to unlock the bootloader without backing up the DRM keys of the phone (its a sort of originality/device-specific signature), he might never get to use exclusive features for Xperia devices like X-Reality engine and all. So one should keep a backup of the DRM keys (or TA partition) safe with him/HER.

We are yet to receive an official word on it soon by Sony, which may be arriving very soon.

Sony announcing android 4.4 KitKat and android 4.3 plans next week – Which Xperia phones will get ?

Thanks to krabappel2548, XDA Developer has come up with a great news for Sony Xperia Z1 users this festive season, especially those who wants updates faster than anyone. He told to his fellow members on XDA that he has compiled the Android 4.4 KitKat from the source build. Initially he faced many problems with compiling the ROM. Later he said that the ROM is being compiled, but the screen is not functional, but later he managed to fix that even.

He Said:

“AOSP 4.4 booting up with display functional

A lot of stuff is still broken, but I’m working on it. I’ll keep you guys updated”

[ UPDATE ] Just now XDA dev krabappel confirmed that, audio, BlueTooth, Video not working rest all stuff is working smooth…

So all in all its a great news for Sony Xperia Z1 users, as the man about whom we talked above is on fire and is soon going to come up with some test builds.

Install Android 4.4 KitKat AOSP KRT16M Stable ROM on Xperia Z “Yuga”

While every Xperia smartphone user is waiting for the official wording from Sony Mobile on their plans for android 4.3 and android 4.4 KitKat update, as per Sony Mobile tweet they will let users know later this week but in the meantime XDA developer pabx has managed to boot up android 4.4 KitKat AOSP KRT16M ROM on Xperia Z “Yuga” which as per many users wordings, is a stable ROM.

It’ good too see android 4.4 AOSP development has begun for Xperia devices even before the launch of android 4.4 officially on them. It’s a great ROM as per users if you don’t want to wait for CyanogenMod ROM.

Android 4.4 KitKat AOSP KRT16M Stable ROM for Xperia Z

If you are planning to install this ROM on your Xperia Z, you must know that this ROM is purely based on android 4.4 KitKat AOSP and is needed to be flashed with fastboot. Let’s see what this ROM contains. Kernel is 3.4.67.

Working features :- As per version 3.1 of the android 4.4 KitKat AOSP KRT16M ROM on Xperia Z; Wi-Fi, audio, Camera / video recording, callings / SMS feature, GPS, NFC are working fine including other features too.

Known Bugs :- Some users after testing claims that syncing calendar with Google may not work on fresh installation of android 4.4 KitKat AOSP KRT16M ROM on Xperia Z, after a series of rebooting it works fine and while selecting mobile network manually and unwanted dialog box pops up, press home button to get rid of it.

Sony announcing android 4.4 KitKat and android 4.3 plans next week – Which Xperia phones will get ?

Android 4.4 KitKat is official now, one of the major update for android operating system. With the previous release of android 4.3 jelly bean, Sony officially announced that whole Xperia Z family will get android 4.3 jelly bean including Xperia Z1, Z Ultra, Z, ZL, ZR, Tablet Z and Xperia SP, while some phones will be directly updated to android 4.3 jelly bean from android 4.12 ( names has not been disclosed yet ).

With Android 4.4 in front line, next most important question is which Xperia handsets will get android 4.4 KitKat update and when ? Some official wording has come from Sony on this now.

Above tweet clearly says that Xperia users will get a solid info on the android 4.4 KitKat and android 4.3 update for them. Hopefully Sony will tell the approx. timing of rolling update and the phones getting it.

Android 4.4 includes “Project Svelte ” which is an effort by Google to run android 4.4 KitKat even on low memory devices with 512 MB RAM, so can we also expect it on low end Xperia handsets.

Which Xperia Phones will get Major Android 4.4 KitKat Update ?

Just a big news came fronm SVP, Android, Chrome & Apps, Google “Sundar Pichai”, confirmed that “Android 4.4 KitKat update” will soon follow the existing android 4.3 Jelly Bean update 🙂

Sundar Pichait tweeted saying “We now have over 1 Billion Android activations and hope this guy in front of the building  keeps that momentum going“.

Question arises in mind, Which Xperia Phones will get this major Android 4.4 KitKat Update ? Sony has already officially announced their plans to roll out android 4.3 on Xperia Z, ZL, ZR, Z Ultra, Tablet Z and Xperia SP, they also hinted some Xperia phone will get android 4.3 directly from android 4.1, hopefully it was for Xperia S, SL, Acro S and Ion. ( May be Xperia aslo ).

As it seems Sony is neglecting their 2011 handsets now for the android update 4.3, in that case it’s quite obvious curiosity in every Xperia user that which Xperia phones will get this  Major Android 4.4 KitKat Update ?

No release date from officials have been made on ETA of next  Major Android 4.4 KitKat Update, but it will come soon before Android 5.0.
