23.1.A.1.28 firmware was certified for Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Compact yesterday and now the same firmware has also been certified for Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 Compact and Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact. At present Xperia Z3 series in on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update.

23.1.A.1.28 firmware moves the current build from 23.1.A.0.xxx to 23.1.A.1.xx. It seems to be a major bug fixing update, whether Android 5.0.2 or Android 5.1 Lollipop, it can’t be said for the time being.

Sony has rolled a new app updated today i.e. PlayStation Video app 13.2.A.1.2 version which now replaces Video Unlimited app. Sony PlayStation Video app is limited to only few regions for the time being.

Sony Videos app has been updated to the newer 9.1.A.0.8 version from the older 9.0.A.0.20 version (this old version brought name “Videos” to “Movies” app). Videos 9.1.A.0.8 app update brings improved layout of menu view and devices in drawer menu.

Videos 9.1.A.0.8 app also brings improved application stability and usual bug fixing and performance enhancement. Update is rolling as OTA (from update center, now present in What’s New App in Lollipop firmware), size 13 MB.

Earlier today we saw 23.1.A.0.740 firmware rolling for Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z2 carrier handsets in Europe and now a new 23.1.A.1.28 firmware has been certified for Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablet. 23.1.A.1.28 firmware moves the current build from 23.1.A.0.xxx to 23.1.A.1.xx.

23.1.A.1.28 firmware is certified for Xperia Z2 D6503 and Xperia Z2 Tablet SGP521 only for the time being. It seems to be a major bug fixing update (Android 5.0.2) hopefully. Let’s see if it rolls for global variants for Xperia Z2 series or not.

23.1.A.0.740 firmware which was certified on PTCRB a few days back for Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z2 is now rolling officially on carrier handsets. 23.1.A.0.740 Lollipop firmware is confirmed rolling for carrier “Orange” for the time being in European region only.

23.1.A.0.740 firmware is not expected to hit the global variants of Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z2 series. Earlier Sony rolled 23.1.A.0.726 firmware rolled (Android 5.0.2 update) globally for both handsets.

Xperia M2 18.3.1.A.1.9, M2 Dual 18.3.1.B.1.10 firmware certified

Xperia M2 and Xperia M2 Dual have got new firmware certified at PTCRB after a long time. 18.3.1.A.1.9 firmware is certified for Xperia M2 and 18.3.1.B.1.10 firmware is certified for Xperia M2 Dual. Looking at the firmware build, both firmware seems to be Android 4.4.4 KitKat, minor bug fixing update only.

Sony has not disclosed its plan for rolling Android Lollipop update for Xperia M2 and Xperia M2 Dual yet, so far Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update is available only for Xperia Z1 series, Z Ultra, Z2 & Z3 series and for Xperia T2 Ultra and Xperia C3, it was released a few days back only.

Sony releases Xperia SWPA Theme officially

Sony World Photography Awards winners were announced yesterday by Sony on their blog and today to celebrate the event they have released Xperia SWPA Theme officially on Play Store. Xperia SWPA Theme is compatible with Xperia handsets running Android 4.4+.

Though Xperia SWPA theme looks nice on Android 5.0 Lollipop running Xperia handsets but theme needs more polishing to make it even better. The Color of status bar and the settings bar don’t match.

As you can see in the screenshots, Xperia SWPA theme uses white navigations icons so if you are calling someone the whole navigation bar becomes white and nothing is visible (a bug, certainly).

Sony has now put its Walkman app on Play Store (8.5.A.3.3 version) whereas Xperia Music app beta version is available for download which will replace Sony Walkman app in future. Today Sony Xperia Music app has been updated to newer 9.0.0.A.2.0beta version over older 9.0.0.A.1.2beta version.

Xperia Music 9.0.0.A.2.0beta app update brings new full player, play queue option added in menu drawer, new context menu icon, widget stays in the notification after pause (swipe to dismiss in Android 5.0 Lollipop).

Xperia Z4 Compact SO-04G coming to NTT DoCoMo

It has only been a few days for Xperia Z4 to mark its appearance in Japan officially and now rumors for Xperia Z4 Compact has started floating around. Yesterday some new Xperia models i.e. Sony E5803, Sony E5633, Sony E6683, Sony E6833 got certified at Indonesian Postel site, two of them have been assumed as Xperia Z4 Compact and Xperia Z4 Ultra.

Today an alleged screenshot from NTT DoCoMo’s summer lineup document revealed that Xperia Z4 Compact might be coming to Japan soon with model number SO-04G.

As seen from the screenshot, Xperia Z4 has been assigned SO-03G/SOV31 model number for NTT DoCoMo model.

A moment ago we posted that Android 5.0.2 Lollipop 19.3.A.0.470 firmware was spotted rolling on Xperia T2 Ultra, well now the same 19.3.A.0.470 firmware has hit Xperia C3 single SIM variant D2533 also (confirmed as Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update).

Xperia C3 19.3.A.0.470 firmware update is confirmed so far only in Taiwan. Update is still seeding, we will soon see it rolling globally hopefully. Nothing spotted on Dual SIM varinat yet.

Xperia Z4 aka Sony E6533 marked its appearance yesterday and today a few more Sony Xperia models spotted at Indonesian Postel. Sony E5803, Sony E5633, Sony E6683, Sony E6833 got certified today at Indonesian Postel site.

Sony E5803 goes in sync with Xperia Z3 Compact (Sony D5803/Sony D5833) whereas Sony E6683 goes in sync with Xperia Z Ultra (Sony C6833). This could mean that we might be looking at Xperia Z4 Compact or Xperia Z4 Ultra or some other completely different Xperia series.

Earlier Sony rolled Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update on Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z2 series in the form of 23.1.A.0.690 firmware, which was pulled later and 23.1.A.0.726 firmware was released globally.

23.1.A.0.740 firmware is certified for Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 Compact, Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablet. It is not yet certified for Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact. It is a bug fixing update, as the present Android 5.0.2 23.1.A.0.726 build is having issues like severe battery drain, heating issues and some minor bugs.

First look at Xperia Z4 – Hands on Videos

Sony Xperia Z4 finally marked its appearance today in Japan after several rumors floating in. Looking at Xperia Z4, one can say it is a combo of Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z2 in terms of design. A minor upgrade over Xperia Z3, though calling it a next flagship device seems unrealistic.

Xperia Z4 features Snapdragon 810 64 bit Octa core processor (2 GHz) with 3 GB RAM, 32 GB internal storage (with micro SD card support). It features 20.7 MP camera 25mm wide-angle, 1 / 2.3 inch size sensor (ISO 12800). It features 5.1 MP front camera (25mm wide-angle). Xperia Z4 weighs 144 grams and is 6.9mm thin with 5.2″ FHD Display (1920 x 1080 resolution, no 2K) packed in an aluminum frame with glass back. Xperia Z4 features 2930 mAh battery.

Xperia Z4 hands on pics officially

Earlier today Sony launched Xperia Z4 in Japan exclusively. Xperia Z4 features Snapdragon 810 64 bit Octa core processor (2 GHz) with 3 GB RAM, 32 GB internal storage (with micro SD card support). It features 20.7 MP camera 25mm wide-angle, 1 / 2.3 inch size sensor (ISO 12800). It features 5.1 MP front camera (25mm wide-angle).

Xperia Z4 weighs 144 grams and is 6.9mm thin with 5.2″ FHD Display (1920 x 1080 resolution, no 2K) packed in an aluminum frame with glass back. Xperia Z4 features 2930 mAh battery.

Xperia Z4 marked its appearance today in Japan exclusively. Xperia Z4 features Snapdragon 810 64 bit Octa core processor (2 GHz) with 3 GB RAM, 32 GB internal storage (with micro SD card support). Both Xperia Z4 and Xperia features 5.2″ FHD Display. Xperia Z4 features speakers design like Xperia Z2. Back panel of both devices looks same.

Xperia Z4 features capless micro-USB port at the bottom side with a lanyard hole while there is no port at the bottom side of Xperia Z3.

Sony has officially launched the successor of Xperia Z3 i.e. Xperia Z4 in Japan today exclusively in white, black, copper and aqua green color. Xperia Z4 weighs 144 grams and is 6.9mm thin with 5.2″ FHD Display (1920 x 1080 resolution, no 2K) packed in an aluminum frame with glass back.

Unexpectedly Xperia Z4 features 2930 mAh battery (which is less as compared to Xperia Z3 & Xperia Z2). Xperia Z4 comes with Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box (5.0.2). Now it seems all leaks linking to Xperia Z3 Neo were of Xperia Z4 actually, yes because Sony E6553 is Xperia Z4’s model number. Xperia Z4 looks no wonder phone over Xperia Z3.
