A week back Sony rolled android 4.3 15.4.A.0.23 firmware update for Xperia M officially and now the dual SIM variant Xperia M Dual has also been updated to android 4.3 15.5.A.0.18 firmware. Previously we saw 15.5.A.0.16 firmware getting certified on PTCRB for Xperia M dual while a higher build for android 4.3 has been officially rolled now.

15.5.A.0.18 firmware update is available over PC Companion and SUS for the time being. 15.5.A.0.18 firmware is confirmed in regions like Brazil and other regions of Europe. To update your Xperia M Dual, connect it to PC Companion and look for 15.5.A.0.18 firmware update notification as proceed as per on screen instructions. Present android version on Xperia M Dual C2004, C2005 is android 4.2.2. It is a hefty 770 MB+ update.

Sony has officially launched Xperia Z2 in Taiwan and China, 4G LTE model now available on China Mobile carrier. In other parts of the world Xperia Z2 has not been launched till now while pre-orders started in early March but not anymore available on Sony Mobile Online stores across Europe. Hands on pics of Xperia Z2 China Mobile 4G / China Unicom version have come up and some design changes are noticed as compared to global version of Xperia Z2.

Specs of both global version of Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 China Mobile 4G / China Unicom version is same while some of the hardware design change has been done in the Xperia Z2 China Mobile 4G / China Unicom version, let see in detail. You will see even the white color has a contrast difference in both models.

Xperia L 15.3.A.1.16 firmware update rolling on Orange carrier in Europe

A few days back we spotted Xperia L 15.3.A.1.16 firmware getting posted on Sony’s open source archive page and now Xperia L 15.3.A.1.16 firmware has started hitting Orange carrier users across Europe. 15.3.A.1.16 firmware is already confirmed on Orange carrier in France, Spain and Slovak Republic. 15.3.A.1.16 firmware is not spotted on regular variants of Xperia L yet anywhere.

15.3.A.1.16 firmware is an update over previous 15.3.A.1.14 firmware and still keeps Xperia L on android 4.2.2 version. Sony has officially updated low end Xperia M to android 4.3 and Xperia L is still stuck on android 4.2.2. Sony has not mentioned Xperia L name yet for KitKat update but we do expect Sony will roll directly android 4.4.2 KitKat update on Xperia L skipping android 4.3 just like the case seen with Xperia SP.

As per one user Xperia L 15.3.A.1.16 firmware update is of 697 MB in size and is merely a bug fixing update over previous version. An interesting feature is added in the update that now the operator’s name is displayed in the status bar of the Xperia L.

Sony CP-W5 portable wireless charger announced in Singapore for Qi compatible devices

Sony has officially announced its first portable wireless charger for Qi-compatible devices in Singapore exclusively. Sony CP-W5 portable wireless charger can charge any Qi technology enabled device and other devices with the help of USB connector. If you are charging your device via wireless option than output will be 1.0A while if connected via USB port output will be 1.5A which is a standard rating which we get though AC Adapters also.

Sony CP-W5 portable wireless charger packs 5000 mAh rechargeable Li-ion battery inside it which can be easily charged 1000 times. It has Sony’s Hybrid-Gel Technology which will enable it to retain 90% of its capacity at 1000 charges. At present it is only available in white color and will be on sale April 2014 onwards in Singapore while its availability in other regions of world is still unknown.

What we guess is as seen with other Qi chargers for Xperia devices, there may also be a special Qi enabled back phone case from Sony which will have charging plate embedded inside it and after putting case on phone and placing it on Sony CP-W5 portable wireless charger you can charge your phone. As mentioned by Sony both wireless charging and USB charging can’t be done at same time.

Xperia Z2 disassembly guide – Dismantling teardown pics

Sony Xperia Z2 the latest buzz among Xperia devices has been dismantled and got its first teardown treatment today. Xperia Z2 features 5.2″ 1080p screen display, Snapdragon 801 SoC, 3 GB RAM, Adreno 330 GPU, 8.2mm thick and 163 grams in weight. Just like other Xperia flagships Xperia Z2 features IP55 and IP58 water and dust resistance feature with non removable 3200 mAh battery.

Xperia Z2 has been officially launched in Taiwan a few days back; 4G LTE version of China Mobile carrier has been dismantled by folks at Cnmo Mobile CN exclusively. Let’s see what Xperia Z2 holds inside it in terms of hardware parts and the area of placement of various parts.

Do not try the below Xperia Z2 disassembly guide on your own, it will void your warranty; only for professional experts.

To start with Xperia Z2 disassembly guide, thin sheet of iron pray bar is used to counter the glue first the middle part of bottom back panel than at edges.

After poking the glue at all sides back panel of Xperia Z2 is removed starting from the sides gently.

Finally back panel of Xperia Z2 is removed. Back side of battery and Xperia Z2 motherboard is spotted. Yellow tap is spotted around all sides of battery.

Back glass panel of Xperia Z2 looks very thin in thickness.

Below you can see metal covering holding Xperia Z2 motherboard from outside.

Sony transducer is present at bottom of battery.

Now with the help of right screw driver, loose all screws to open the battery covering and motherboard outer covering.

17.1.A.2.49 firmware certified for Xperia Z2, Xperia Z2 Tablet

A new 17.1.A.2.49 firmware has been spotted for Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablet on PTCRB which is as we all know is android 4.4.2 KitKat update. Recently we have seen so many firmwares getting certified for Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablet which clearly indicates Sony is polishing the firmware for retail release of both devices globally.

17.1.A.2.49 firmware is certified for Xperia Z2 D6503 and D6502 and for Xperia Z2 Tablet SGP521 and SGP541 on PTCRB. Previously we have seen 17.1.A.2.36 firmware, 17.1.A.1.2 firmware, 17.1.A.0.504 firmware and 17.1.A.0.391 firmware getting certified on PTCRB.

Firmware ftfs for many firmwares have been leaked and developers have already ported Xperia Z2 apps from it for other Xperia devices.

Root Xperia T2 Ultra Dual and Install CWM Recovery 6.0.4.6 on 19.0.D.0.253 firmware

Sony has officially launched Xperia T2 Ultra Dual in many regions and the first 19.0.D.0.253 firmware update has also hit it a few days back. Being a new device development for Xperia T2 Ultra Dual has just been started and before getting launch at global level, Xperia T2 Ultra has been rooted on the latest 19.0.D.0.253 firmware and ClockworkMod recovery ( CWM based ) has been installed on the handset exclusively.

XDA dev DooMLoRD has successfully achieved root on Xperia T2 Ultra Dual and managed to install CWM based recovery on an unlocked bootloader handset. To begin with the process make sure you have unlocked the bootloader on your Xperia T2 Ultra Dual, to unlock bootloader check the official steps from Sony here. Keep in mind unlocking bootloader of your device will void your warranty. Backup your TA partition before unlocking bootloader else you will loose DRM keys; CAMERA working after unlocking bootloader.

Xperia C 16.0.B.2.13 firmware Android 4.2.2 update – Battery Bug Fixed

A long time back in Jan 2014 Sony rolled the very first firmware update for Xperia C in form of 16.0.B.2.6 firmware and now Sony has rolled a new 16.0.B.2.13 firmware update for Xperia C which keeps Xperia C on same android 4.2.2 version, minor big fixing update only which changes build from 16.0.B.2.6 to 16.0.B.2.13.

16.0.B.2.13 firmware update has been confirmed over PC Companion and SUS while an O.TA notification for 16.0.B.2.13 firmware is not seen yet. To update to 16.0.B.2.13 firmware, connect your Xperia C to PC Companion and look for a notification as shown below, then proceed as per on screen instructions.

Sony has officially launched Xperia T2 Ultra Dual in India at price Rs. 25990 ( $425, £256, €305 ) and will be soon available in other regions world too. Sony is planning to launch only one variant of Xperia T2 Ultra i.e either single SIM or Dual SIM in most of the regions around the world.

Earlier we saw retail packaging of Xperia T2 Ultra XM50h getting leaked which clearly displayed the box contents it is holding and how the device looks in real. Xperia SP 12.1.A.1.192 firmware update coming today, SFR France says

Xperia SP 12.1.A.1.192 firmware which was spotted on PTCRB at Feb end has been approved and confirmed by SFR carrier in France and roll out of the same starts today dated 21 March, 2014. Sony rolled android 4.3 12.1.A.0.266 firmware update on Xperia SP after a long delay and getting number of firmware certified for the same android version but Xperia SP users are still not satisfied with the build as it has many bugs associated with it.

Earlier today SFR France mentioned that android 4.3 has been finalized for Xperia M and now they have posted another good news, as per SFR carrier in France, 12.1.A.1.192 firmware update can come anytime today and will bring more improvement in performance and stability, overall smooth graphical experience and update to Sony Media apps viz. Walkman, Album, Movies.

12.1.A.1.192 firmware update has not been spotted yet rolling on any user’s handset so far but as soon as it comes we will let you know.

A few days back Sony rolled android 4.4.2 KiKat update for Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1 Compact and Xperia Z Ultra along with it’s schedule plan for rolling KitKat for Xperia Z, ZL, ZR , Tablet Z, T2 Ultra, E1, M2. Unfortunately Sony has not mentioned Xperia SP, C, L, V, T, TX in the KitKat update getting device list yet.

Xperia Z2 Deluxe Edition coming to China on 27 March for 5499 yuan – Sony 2014 Spring Conference, Beijing

Sony Mobile listed Xperia Z2 for pre-orders across its European online stores and then removed the pre-orders while launch of Xperia Z2 is still awaited in other regions of world while good news has come up for Xperia users in China. Sony Mobile is holding a “Spring Press Conference in Beijing on 27 March 2014” where they will be launching Xperia Z2, Xperia M2 along with couple of new accessories spotted at MWC 2014.

Sony Mobile is sending press invites for the same event on 27 March, begins at 10 AM in Beijing. It is believed that Xperia Z2 will be priced at 4999 Yuan i.e. $803 in China along with new Xperia Z2 Deluxe Edition which will come with a pack of accessories including Sony Magnetic Charging Dock DK36, STM10 stereo microphone, MDR-NC31EM digital noise cancelling headphones along with SCR10 stand and case. Xperia Z2 Deluxe Edition is expected to priced at 5499 Yuan i.e $884 and only 1000 handsets will be sold with this offer.

If you see logically Xperia Z2 Deluxe Edition price is great as compared to price of all accessories coming with it. Xperia Z2 is expected to be shipped in mid-April in China while pre-order will start after launch.

Xperia M Android 4.3 15.4.A.0.21 firmware approved by SFR carrier in France

Good news for Xperia M users, previously certified mysterious 15.4.A.0.21 firmware on PTCRB for Xperia M C1905 and C1904 is now confirmed to be Android 4.3 update. SFR carrier in France has confirmed approval of android 4.3 15.4.A.0.21 firmware for Xperia M and soon it will start rolling via PC Companion or OTA though no specific date is mentioned yet.

15.4.A.0.21 firmware was certified for Xperia M on PTCRB a month back along with new 15.5.A.0.16 firmware which was certified for Xperia M dual which at present is on Android 4.2.2 version while Xperia M is on android 4.1.2. SFR carrier has also listed an official changelog of Xperia M Android 4.3 15.4.A.0.21 firmware update. SFR carrier has also mentioned the customization version as C1905_15.4.A.0.21_SFR-FR_1275-3031_R5C.

Sony ties up with Vueling to bring wearable boarding pass on SmartWatch 2

A few days back Sony confirmed that Garmin Xperia Edition will be coming to SmartWatch 2 which will offer a new innovative way of navigation which includes onboard maps, lane guidance, speed warnings, traffic, social media integration etc. Just now Sony Mobile has confirmed with a blog post that they Sony is bringing world’s first wearable boarding pass with Vueling on Sony SmartWatch2.

Now forget your boarding card, just wear SmartWatch 2 and all information regarding flight and boarding pass will be carried on your wrist without any hustle, it’s just simple. A 2D bar code figure will be used to carry the desired boarding information. Sony has hinted that a new app from Sony and Vueling will come to Google Play Store at the end of March which will be used to get the boarding pass info on your SmartWatch 2.

Concept of wearable boarding pass is cool; if someone looses his boarding card all info is carried on his wrist with an extra level of security. Below you can see a snapshot of how Sony and Vueling app will look like.

Sony Voice balloon photo app allows you to put text on the photo in form of balloons by recognizing the voice of the users around the camera. You can edit the words spoken, put them in three different style options and can really give words to your beautiful pic captured. Let’s see how it works.

Sony Mobile has started rolling Android 4.4.2 KitKat update officially for Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z1 Compact as stated on their blog. Sony has released its schedule for Android 4.4.2 KitKat rollout for other devices also, Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia Tablet Z and Xperia ZR will be getting KitKat in mid Q2 2014 while Xperia E1, Xperia M2 and Xperia T2 Ultra and T2 Ultra Dual will also get KitKat but no release date mentioned yet.
