this FTF firmware its like a file that you can get via pc companion or OTA version? so it means this is a normal firmware that you don’t need a Root and your warranty cannot be lost? i mean its safe to use this?

    • Anurag Kumar February 12, 2014 at 8:26 am - Reply

Yes safe to use, warranty is not lost, no root needed.
You can simply flash it if you don’t want to wait for PCCompaniom update.

    – New Sony user interface with new home screen look and feel
    – Sony’s Smart Social Camera and downloadable camera apps
    – Updated Sony Media apps – “WALKMAN”, Album and Movies apps

    – Improved Wi-Fi (Really the range is awesome)
    – Touch problem is gone (When placed horizontally)
    – WALKMAN problem is gone (No BASS problem after notification)
    – RAM increase
    – Very butter smooth interface with awesome themes
    – Increased Music Volume; Clarity
    – Take screenshot option is changed from long pressing power button to holding the power and volume down key simultaneously. And the quality is pretty low compared to previous screenshot version.
    – When increasing/decreasing volume, only a black bar is visible which should be fixed by sony..
    – Lock screen customization options are provided
    – “my Xperia” (Remote lock/Erase contents) is available now at Settings -> Xperia
    – New clock UI

    Hi everyone,
I’ve just had a bad experience with a recently bought Xperia SP (5303).

It came with and old FW version (237 I think), and 2 or 3 days later came up the warning message to update the FW version with SONY Connect to the new . 266 version.

After the update, the Xperia booted and them start working normally. At night, I turned off my phone (I usually do that when I go to sleep), and for my surprise, the next morning when I turned the device on, there came some error messages like “System interface stopped” and whenever I hit “ok”, the message pops up again on the screen.
I managed to reset the mobile to the factory standards, but the error messages are still there.

I tried to contact the local support (Brazil), but I’ll manage to reach them only next Friday.
    Remotely, no one could help.

Does anyone has ever gone through this problem?

    Regards

Please point me to where I can download the old 4.1.2 build! The 4.3 build is useless. Apps are crashing and it is extremely slow.
I will downgrade as soon as I find the file.

    Hi Anurag,

I am downloading the flash files provided by xperiaguide and will be flashing them.

Is it fine to flash and if i Flash will it possible to get future updates like normal update procedure???

Hope I flash correctly and dont brick:)

    • Anurag Kumar February 18, 2014 at 7:01 pm - Reply

Well we don’t hold any responsibility if your device is bricked due to any of the mentioned step in tutorial, though it is safe but if you end up doing something wrong from your side it’s your fault.

You will get future updates if you flash. Warranty is not lost.

thanks bro about to flash will update as done

  66. Tanmay February 19, 2014 at 8:25 am - Reply

I just flashed with the FTF provided by Bandhan Ganesh. I used the generic India FTF.

Flashing done in few minutes and my xperia got updated with 4.3

No bugs experinced phone works fine.

    Wifi : Still same
Black box on pressing volume rocker with downloaded theme
I was never bothered of camera as I have a sony camera for it.
Touch is very sensitive and smooth

Rest if I got any bug or special thing I will update.

Thanks to Anurag, Xperiaguide Team and Bandhan Ganesh

Lastly flash then wait for OTA on SUS or PCC just follow the guide.

Will be flashing now onwards and will root the day Sony ends sp support or takes back Android Kitkat from us

    🙂

WiFi Range has Increased! Sony has a done Good Job for that!
Earlier, my Range was very short, but now its showing Good Signal Strength even in those areas where it never used to catch even a poor strength!

The Black Box will be removed when you’ll Apply the Default Xperia Theme and Reboot!

The Bugs experienced by me are

      1. Play Store taking lots of time for downloading.
      2. LED Lights not pulsate in Sync with Music Beats at full volume.
      3. No BE2 in Album, Haven’t checked if it works for Movie or not!
4.A Black Box appears instead of Music Volume Bar when using any other theme.
5.Battery Drainage is fast even when STAMINA mode is ON!!

and the annoying thing after the update is it only shows 20 Most Used Apps instead of the Earlier Sequential Order made on App Menu accordance to Usage.

        Hi,

Could you please do a favour? Could you check if this update supports BLE? Try installing this app — https:// play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ti.android.ble.sensortag&hl=en
If it is compatible with your device and installs properly then please let me know here.

I wanted to confirm the BLE compliance for this update on Xperia SP before I buy. My main aim to buy this phone is to have a BLE compliant device.

        Thanks a ton.

Xperia SP owners who are running Android 4.3 have a new update for the Album Application (Album 5.4.A.0.20). Don’t what is the purpose of update, but I can tell that the Bravia Engine 2 issue in album app is still not fixed in this update.

Is it sensible if i updated to 12.1.A.0.266 in a country where it has officially not been released then shortly thereafter get an update of the former 12.1.A.0.201……is it going to add any value or instead it is going to downgrade my phone back to its former miserable state?
