Set conversation wallpaper in SMS on Android 4.3 in Xperia Z1, Z Ultra

Sony recently rolled Android 4.3 14.2.A.0.290 firmware on Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z Ultra and many new features introduced like “Xperia Themes” and Sony Smart Camera app on Xperia Z Ultra. Till now it has the smoothest UI in the firmware rolled by Sony. We listed “one hand keyboard” settings but missed one hidden features of keyboard app in Android 4.3 14.2.A.0.290 firmware on Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z Ultra.

Sony has added an extra feature in keyboard app to set conversation wallpaper in SMS, well let’s see how you can set the wallpaper. Good thing is that you can set different wallpaper for different contacts now unlike “Whatsapp” where you can set same wallpaper for every contact.

Set conversation wallpaper in SMS on Android 4.3

Open Messaging app.
Open any message in your inbox.
Tap on menu settings, click on “set conversation wallpaper”.

Choose wallpaper and set it.

Do check your Android 4.3 on Xperia Z1 and Z Ultra, you may see some more hidden stuffs in it. We are still exploring it and if you find any interesting stuff just drop your comments below.

Hi! I just got my Xperia Z1s (just the T-Mobile variant of the Z1) and this is bugging the hell out of me! My old phone was a Galaxy S3 and there I would change the “sms background” and it would change for all my contacts. I don’t want to set an individual background for EVERY SINGLE CONTACT but I don’t want the boring plain white it comes with. Is there any way to change my texting background ONCE for everyone, same picture without a battery draining app? Help is appreciated. Thanks

Hi! How did you make your contact info display? My photo is not appearing but I have a saved photo on my contact. I am referring to my own photo. My contact’s photo has no problem. Thanks!

  Try to change the pic and restart your phone, may be some technical error only.

  that’s very bad, I guess it’s firmware bug….try factory reset your phone after making a backup.

thing that sucks is that it’s only while the conversation is going if u delete the txt it goes away

are there themes that you can actually pick a sms wallpaper and have it stay?

  no you can’t only text box color changes when you apply the themes.

How do I take off the background to the normal default colour? I can’t get it back. I have a Sony xperia xa but I’m guessing it works the same.
